I get the feeling Stef only thinks she knows what was going on because she can only assume every other girl Kip talks to would behave exactly as she would.
I am afraid I am with Stef on this one. Going after another girl’s boyfriend, especially when that girl is your roommate and presumably your friend is not cool. Tiffany needs to stop chasing other girl’s boyfriends. She did this with Luann and now she is doing it again with Stef. We readers are supposed to side with Tiffany this time because Stef is so awful, but frankly this is just the same old, same old for Tiffany.
Almost from their introduction, it has been painfully obvious that Kip and Stef were a poor match, that there was some mutual attraction between Kip and Tiff. However, it is being drawn out over much too long a time. Stef’s character has been given no redeeming qualities, and is easily the most annoying one in the strip (even Shannon has been rendered more sympathetic). It is time for G&K to stop milking this storyarc purgatory. Resolve it, already, please.
Oooh. Kip and Tiff are being reasonable. Stef is not; Gasoline just got dumped onto the fire. A-one and a-two…
“See these eyes so green.
I can stare for a thousand years.
Colder than the moon
It’s been so long
Feel my blood enraged.
It’s just the fear of losing you.
Don’t you know my name?
And you’ve been so long.
And I’ve been putting out fire.
With gasoline"
— ‘Putting Out Fire’, David Bowie. The main title for Cat People, a very strange movie in which those who are reasonable end up having Serious Problems.
Tiff has changed from a horrible, spiteful witch, to a lovable, kind person. Wonders never cease. I suppose Ann Eiffel leaving had a positive effect on her.
Kip is the college quarterback who just won the game with two seconds left. He has to have girls in his face no matter where he goes, and Stef should be well aware of it. Tiffany should take the high road and wait until Kip and Stef breakup.
Not impressed with Tiffany’s actions at all. She pulled a catty move by deliberately seeking out Kip in front of Steffanie. And Kip, he put all of this in motion when he told Tiffany she was beautiful and if not for Steffanie he would be interested in her. That’s cheating. I can only hope that this development will lead to Steffanie requesting transfer to a different dorm.
Stef proves once again that she’s really insecure and doesn’t trust Kip at all. For now she’s keeping calm, but I don’t know if she could become violent or decide to get revenge on Tiffany in some sneaky way. The good thing is that Tiffany doesn’t fear her at all and Kip seems to be on her side.
Kip has been criticizing Steff for a long time and has expressed admiration for Tiffany. Steff treats Kip like a plaything /property and has no real respect for herself, him or anyone else. Yes, Tiff likes him. But although he isn’t totally sold on Steff, he’s not ready to break off the relationship. Tiff knows this. I’m taking this as a friend complimenting a friend, the QB on a great win, until I see differently.
Maybe if Kip and Tiff hook up, he’ll get her on a physical fitness program and get all that excess fat off of her. Then she can give Stef a REAL run for her money. Good that this is just fantasy. I don’t see a player like Kip dumping a hot cheerleader for a fat chick in real life. Trying to be “PC” only goes so far.
As unlikable as Stef is, her paranoia is 100% justified. “I want Kip for myself” has been Tiffany’s defining personality trait for about 4 years now. It’s the reason she let Kip stay at her house the previous summer, as it’s implied that it’s the only reason she continues to have Stef as a roommate. Stef is terrible, but she’s not wrong.
You guys who are saying Tiff would be manipulative and jealous like she was in high school if she were to have Kip as a boyfriend….she never had a boyfriend, period. She put on a big act of self-importance as the daughter of a wealthy single dad. On the inside, she was insecure. Many of you forgot that when they first met, (Tiff and Kip), they were interested in each other and were on the verge of a potential date when Stef came along and interrupted the whole thing. We went uh-oh. He’s got a girlfriend. In that moment, Kip forgot he had a girlfriend. And hey, gf/bf is not a binding relationship. Tiff is free to try to get him drop Stef and Kip is free to do the same. The line is drawn at engagement.
Tiffany is, IMHO, most definitely not trying to steal Kip. She’s attracted to him yes, attracted to a star college quarterback, having been a cheerleader herself, in high school. Evans, , have let her grow up and respect Steph and Kip have a relationship. How sexist is it to criticize a female forbeing friendly and complimentary toward, gasp!! a dude!! There is still room for a misdirection play here and Kip and Tiff being together, but as much as some may want, I highly doubt it.
Gotta admit Stef has a point. If Tiff wanted to be friendly, she should have started earlier by acknowledging Steffs Arabian Double Layout or something before adding, i"I really just wanted to congratulate Kip too. You’re a great team".
Observation: Tiffany is no longer the “villain” in this strip. That would now be Stef. I am all right with this. Just as Brad has finally grown up it now appears that so has Tiffany. Just my two cents. :-)
When you consider how Stef treats everyone else, she deserves this.
Stef expects everyone to see her as the center of the entire universe. She gets to borrow whatever she wants, and everyone else has to just let her get away with it. She really has no respect for anyone but herself. Kip is not her boyfriend, but a possession. He’s a sex toy that only she can play with. Heaven help him if he makes friends, especially with other women.
Sure, this looks like Tiff is making moves on Kip, but hasn’t Stef been disrespecting Tiff all this time? If this doesn’t knock Stef down a notch, what will?
When Kip complimented Tiff, and gave her the “if I wasn’t seeing Steff” line, Tiff saw a hint of opportunity. She knows Kip isn’t happy in this relationship, and maybe could be convinced out of it. The thing is, is Kip such a catch? Clearly he’s using Steff for physical recreation – he’s not enamored with her. Who wants a user? He isn’t strong enough to break up with a nasty, controlling gf – who wants a doormat? I don’t get it.

Well. THAT was predictable.
And Tiff telling off Stef has bee. long overdue.
But it’ really doesn’t matter if Kip now breaks up with Stef over this.
The very fact that “Kippie-Po” DARED agree with Tiffany, is more than enough for Stef to declare WAR.
And not just Stef lashing out on Tiff, but Dez and Bets too, the way she did when Stef thought she lost her stupid ring.
Tiff, Bets and Dez should move out of that dorm (And into the Manse) and leave Stef alone and possibly boyfriend-less.
Let’s see how she likes it..
