I am very glad that our Heroes and Heroens are celebrating the New Year happily.Happy New Year to all the ORB and those who are new to BCN.

Yes, everyone is definitely dressed for the New Year’s Eve party. Of course, we’re far too busy in the Grumbling Room with our own New Year’s Eve party to even notice this one. In any case, we certainly never watch soap opera twaddle, New Year’s Eve parties or not! It would be interesting to note (if we did watch) that That Guy Brad, while dressed up, is NOT in costume, while Snowball IS wearing a crown (paper maybe, as in, from a cracker?). It is hard to tell if Dr. Mittens is wearing a costume or not, but he is not wearing any headgear. Perhaps the flunkies didn’t get the memo? If I were the type to notice fashion, which I normally am not, I would note that Princess’ gown and headpiece go perfectly with her coat pattern. However, I am much too busy to even look at, much less critique, soap opera party fashion.

And, whose idea was it to include confetti amid a group of cats? That has disaster written all over it! I might even dare to say that this party is doom . . . well, I’m not watching, in any case.

The tables are creaking here in the Grumbling Room. We probably even have enough to share with the non-grumblers. There’s a fair chance that some have already been sneaking in and partaking, as we have been too intent on watching . . . er, NOT watching, I mean . . . this broadcast to notice. Today, we don’t care, the New Year’s feast is open to all!

I had assumed the telekinetic kittehs were triplets. Now they look like, from oldest, pale red, orange, and green.

My favorite BCN moment of 2024 was on 2024/06/2, my birthday, though Georgia had to go and spoil it by having Sophie fall out that beautiful window the next day.

My favorite moment of the real world 2024 was finally getting to view a total solar eclipse—something I had dreamed of since I was a child listening to my dad describe one he had seen when he was a boy.

Past midnight in Brisbane, so it’s now 2025 here. Another New Year. Or so they’d have us believe. Anyway. I wish you all less doom than you expect.

Did Captain Nimble shave off his mustache? And where is Lord Crabbington? I assume the pigeon au pair is entertaining the young Nimbles.

Update: (5pm) Arrived at son & DIL’s place about a half hour ago & have been THOROUGHLY greeted by my 2 Grandpuppies. Jazzy has grown into a fine young lady, & Oliver is a peppy young fellow who’s in the chewing stage…for some unknown reason, he saw the small (2×3″) bulge of my glucose meter in my leggings pocket & tried to bite THAT! Silly boy… ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Paraphrasing “Fiddler on the Roof” “There’s a new addition at our home!” On Sunday we installed a new washer/dryer combo. My old washer needed new springs for the tub, but it was so hard to get in and out of the closet that I wasn’t going to replace the springs and put everything back just for a few months until something else went wrong. Getting the washer out involved removing the door trim, then getting taking the dryer out before removing the washer. That’s too much work.

Now I can put dirty clothes inside, press a few buttons, and come back later to clean dry clothes. And since it’s a front loader, I can use it from my wheelchair without having to miss that pesky sock in the bottom of the washer. And no having to lift heavy wet clothes. And it’s quiet. And Update is absolutely fascinated by it.
