“Baton Thomas.” “Three Old Crock High.” “I stand in line!” This is like seeing the danger signs in the world’s slowest, dumbest horror movie. I plan to giggle when Creepy Les slithers in.
George C. Scott, “Hardcore”: “Turn it off. Turn it off! TURN IT OFF!!!”
Mark Hamill, “The Empire Strikes Back”: “No. No, that’s not true! THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!!!!”
J.J. O’Malley, reading today’s strip: "No, not the Komix Korner again! Not Batton Thomas, creator of the nationally syndicated comic strip “Three O’Clock High” and yet another Batiuk avatar! Not a heretofore unknown second strip to increase the resemblance! And NOT ‘I stand in line’! THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!!! TURN IT OFF!!!"
Gaaah! Not this kooky komix korner again. And what this Batiuk’s self promotion? Why’d ya needs to modify name when you yourself is inserting yourself in your own komix? You afraid of suing yourself of using your own name in your own comix?
I miss Funky. I grew up with him. He was older than me when I started reading, then I was older. We finished at the same age. I’d like to see how his retirement is going.
Funny how all of the characters that wear glasses always have the magical kind that don’t have the little bar connecting the two lenses to hold them up. But of course the Batton character is meticulously drawn and he gets one.
Garbage like this is Proof that Funky Winkerbean was forcibly retired by the syndicate. It is obvious that Batiuk only cares about Funky Winkerbean and has decisively turned Crankshaft into his beloved, yet justifiably cancelled, property.
He has ruined Crankshaft because he’s too stubborn and foolish to realize he had a good gag-a-day strip and I won’t be shocked if this trash is cancelled by the syndicates as well.
Serious question: Can someone please explain to me – without the usual personal attacks- why this strip attracts so many vicious trolls? And even more curiously why they bother to both read and comment on a strip they profess too loathe?

Alfred Hitchcock did cameos in his movies but he never made himself a focal point.

“Shut the front door.” “I stand in line.” Two Batiukisms in one comic.

So the cartoonist with a most punchable face based his mopey Pete character on his own looks.

Glad to see he is getting support even though he is starting a new strip…..unlike someone who is constantly mentioned here!
