We were quite lucky that Covid-19 had relatively weak mortality—but now that the response has been politicized by anti-science fanatics, the stage has been set for a really massive death toll when the next one comes along. Even worse, it may not be an accident next time. The knowledge to cure also involves the opposite…

It is true that “RED” areas have a higher mortality rate. But they have all kinds of excuses like age to rationalize it. The thing about vaccine deaths is so bogus. Billions of shots have been administered! Now you would think the body count from them would be a wee bit noticeable!!

All of this reminds me a little of the people who yearn for the “good old days,” when you didn’t wear seat belts or bike helmets, when you drank from the garden hose… “and somehow we survived.” The problem is not the ones yearning for those days, the ones who DID survive, it’s the ones who DIDN’T survive car crashed, bike accidents, etc, things that did not get the publicity given to them in recent days.

The vaccines do not prevent you from being infected, nor do they prevent you from passing it on to others. What they do is to help you not die. Particularly if you are elderly or immune compromised.

The jab is not a vaccine and anyone can get and transmit the virus. The rest is pure propaganda. There is also a difference in dying from Covid and dying with Covid. The majority of deaths were with, since they had up 4 other problems. Age, cancer, diabetes, obesity. The left loves to play with stats.

What I always found tremendously ironic is how so many of the same people who cheered and praised Donald Trump for “Operation Warp Speed” ….. ended up refusing the same vaccines that “Operation Warp Speed” gave us on an emergency basis.

The crazy part of this is that the false logic the illustrious politician spouts did actually come up during the pandemic. Some (I hope not many) red-staters actually thought there was a Democratic conspiracy to kill them off. They loved conspiracy theories and us-versus-them belief systems so much that they believed there could be some way to target them while disbelieving that a vaccine could protect everybody.

I don’t think it is the vaccines that are making the difference anymore. Pretty much everyone has immunity now one way or the other. The difference is that in red states. people are not taking it seriously, not getting antivirals like paxlovid, (or getting it too late).

I don’t even understand how vaccines became political but it was a major mistake by trump, everyone was saying a vaccine would take years. he did what the US does best threw money at the problem and got a working vaccine developed quickly. this was a major event by a person i loath but to be fair, he got it done. but instead of waving the flag “I brought you back to normality” he made the vaccine something to despise, even as he had one himself. throwing away his one major achievment.

Did fine? How old are you? When I was a kid back in the early 60’s I had a kid in my class who had polio. Unlike many polio survivors he didn’t need an iron lung to breath for him, Only his legs were paralyzed from polio . I also had a teacher who had small pox and bore the scars on her face. Both of these diseases were stopped by vaccine. Believe me, back in the 50’s into the 60’s people were screaming for more vaccines to cure diseases that had plauged mankind for centuries. I myself got the dangerous form of measles only a year before the vaccine came out. It almost killed me. Things were definatly not better before vaccines came about.

This has been around a while. When the pandemic arrived in the United States, Democratic leaning counties had higher death rates. When COVID-19 vaccines became available, Republican leaning counties had higher death rates. NPR has an interactive graphic. It has two scatter plots. Each “dot” represents one county. Each plot has a horizontal axis showing the percentage of votes that went to Trump. The vertical axis for the left chart is vaccination rates. The vertical axis for the right is the death rate. The size of a “dot” represents the size of the county. Users can select a county using a search box.

    It’s from May, 2022.

“Pro-Trump counties continue to suffer far higher COVID death tolls”

First, I have no doubt that all of Congress is vaccinated, even the “anti-vaxxers”.

However, I had to go back and make sure that this was a Senate hearing. It’s far more likely that House chairman would not be vaccinated, and that the ranking member would be.

The Senate would be the opposite.

So, the committee chairmen, a Democrat, is unvaccinated (and concerning himself with the welfare of Republican-voters), while the ranking committee member, a Republican, is fully vaccinated and not successfully infected by Mr. Covid?

Am I the only one who sees this as either implausible* or occurring in an alternate timeline?

*(Don’t ask me about the plausibility of a Senate committee questioning a gargantuan talking anthropomorphic virus. I’m not taking questions on that matter at this time.)

I believe this is true. The last time I checked, the ten states with the highest age-adjusted COVID death rates were predominantly Red… the lowest were predominantly Blue. That said, it saddens me that public health has become politicized. Perhaps it is Darwinistic…. those who adapt (i.e., have a sound immune system or the intelligence to get vaccinated) survive.

I remember reading about entire congregations succumbing to COVID because fundamentalist “Christians” eschewed vaccines in favor of their “God-given immune system” (which can’t even stop the common cold). If the Christian population drops, where can “the right” find more Christians? Well, there’s always the supposed waves of predominantly Christian undocumented immigrants…
