It’s not that I mind seeing Brad and Toni and the kid again, but… I wonder how long we’ll have to wait to find out how Jack and Luann’s evening ended? Or for that matter, whether we’ll ever find out?

Relieved that Sunday’s ‘toon was just a one-time thing. As much as I like seeing Luann, it’s disappointing to keep reading the same old comments in the posts about each guy who appears only once as being her next love interest.

Finally a Brad and Toni arc I hope this goes for a month

Why are they building Shannon a room? Did I miss a storyline where Shannon was moving in with Brad and Toni?

Ha. I like this. An actual funny-pun. Finally, we know that the room still isn’t finished! I can see that TJ has been removed from the room building. A very wise decision, guys.

Actually, Brad’s looking a little soft around the middle. It seems to me that he was looking a bit more studly before the wedding.

when he said “stud finder” I knew it was going to end that way. (yuk yuk yuk!) Toni is so “mad for Bwad” he’s so lucky to have the prettiest wife in the whole cartoon. Happy marital bliss, you two.

Not much thought is given to the art in setting up this gag. It looks like Brad is using a level in panel 1, but what he’s checking is a mystery. Meanwhile Toni is free handing the straightest line in Pittsville.

Sudden shift! All that studly and nailing stuff, I wonder if the room they are building for Shannon could turn into a nursery. It’s like Meghan Markle watch with Toni and Brad (not Bwad, sigh Shannon is getting older).

Well here we are with another cliffhanger. Did Tara get home safely? Did Jack and Luann putter around or a round? Where did Tiffany go off to in a snit after leaving Hotel Gulag? Worry and fret seems to be our lot. :o(

Ah, yes, tool and building supply jokes. Next, Toni explains why male and female connectors are called that, and what a “pipe nipple” is.

I see, Sarahas learned to say “Brad” instead of “Bwad”.

Shannon is right.

I don’t understand any of this. Isn’t Brad the nailer? He had the hammer and uses nails right? and studs, I didn’t see any horses, so why would they need a stud finder?

Ooooh, that was delightfully bad and just a little bit naughty….an excellent combination for a Monday the day after daylights savings.

Cute focus today. I like that the renovation is proceeding. I like that Shannon is present. I am hopeful for an entertaining week!

A few other thoughts:

1. I tend to think that Greg is trying to keep Shannon hovering on that edge of being both really nice and being a bit of a brat. He purposefully has Shannon sounding a bit demanding today with the words “Aren’t you done building my room yet ?” when he could have just as easily in today’s comic had Shannon say “Is my room ready?” or a variety of other permutations that would not have the more demanding/cynical edge of the " yet " comment. These other choices would have had no impact on the humor of the comic. So, I firmly believe Greg is wanting us to view Shannon as both nice & a little bratty. A lot of folks here in the past have gotten completely up-in-arms anytime anyone called Shannon a “brat”. But, to me…. I truly believe Greg wants us to view her as both nice and a bit bratty.

2. While I thought the “stud finder” joke was very cute and funny…. I do hope that Greg is not limiting Brad & Toni to only the innuendo joke punchlines. Innuendo jokes have been quite a heavy focus for the humor between them for a lot of years now. I hope Greg expand their role to have a wider range of humor beyond just the sexual innuendo style.

3. I wonder if the room will be completed in this arc?

That’s a very old joke – I remember making it the first time I heard of the device (which was being used by a couple of gay men who were renovating their basement).

Thank the gods Shannon didn’t call him BWAD. Enough of that pseudo-cutesy speech impediment she uses to get attention.

I am so glad to see Brad and Toni again, and to finally have the question of whether or not Shannon’s new room had been completed yet answered. It is entirely possible that the completion of the room may well be the precursor for Brad and Toni adopting Shannon.

So are they ever going to address the fact that this modification is being done without Frank’s knowledge or permission (something he explicitly warned them never to do again), or has that whole plot development just been forgotten?

I just dont get it. They end up taking care of this annoying brat more than the deadbeat father does.Love is love but building a room for her is way too much. She is not their child. The father is simply taking advantage of a spineless sister and brother in law.

I can see the obvious plot coming up where the dad finally runs out on his kid and Toni and Brad decide to adopt her. When that happens, I’ll probably lay off reading the cliched stories that follow.

Wow, I completely forgot about this story arc. I just checked the archive. The last strip in this arc was on June 30th.

Finally some of the comment posters are happy. Sexual innuendos are acceptable to them as long as everybody is married.

Innuendos? Acceptable to “them”, like you are some purist standing back and observing us barbarians with raised eyebrows? Just messing with you, but I’d really like to see Frank and Nancy going at it, or Jack and Luann steaming up the windows in his truck.

A really good one actually Will trigger on the Backbone.

Can Shannon begin to be nicer, softer, less demanding? THe influence of Brad and Toni’s love should be having some effect.

I noticed that Shannon now calls Brad “Brad” rather than “Bwad”. It appears this change occurred after 6/19. Maybe she is growing up a little bit?

So, Shannon is now going to live with Brad and Toni?

Just checking in to see if this strip still has the power to disgust me. It does. And Shannon doesn’t need her own room. If she can’t handle sleeping in a sleeping bag on the couch, then she’s not worth the trouble of hosting in the first place. If Brad and Toni somehow manage to adopt this demon seed (they won’t), this strip will be even worse.

And Brad’s neither a stud nor a nailer. He is simply a tool.

Is this a different room from the one they were building last June (thx Big Mike for the date)? Back then, TJ was going to knock out a wall and be done by dinner.
