Now that Ann’s been given her comeuppance, she’s about to get her thrown outtance (and good riddance) by Nancy…

Ah, two good pieces of information! Tom is a very good attorney (unless Ann is lying), and he’s not her fiancé yet, yay! I always thought he was some kind of high-level businessman.

I just looked it up, to be sure. You can’t kick someone out over their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, etc. You can kick them out for rudeness. To make her case, Ann would have to prove she was discriminated against. The best she could do would be to prove she was disabled by not having a heart, but I don’t think it would fly in court.

Also, she’s bluffing. Would Tom Farrell sue the place employing his daughter? Unless she’s testing her power over him…hmmm.

Anne is such a bad, bad girl…Anyone ever watch Barbara Stanwick In “Double Indemnity” ?…then you know what I mean…and introducing Fred McMurray as Tom Farrel .

Oh, I hope she gets what’s coming to her!

Almost Fiancé? The witch has been lying to Tiffany all along!

Ann has history with T.J., with Leslie, with Tiffany, with Ox (and others)… perhaps it is time to finally corral her for good and find a new villain.

Generally it seems that these characters all end up having strengths and weaknesses. It is hard to imagine what Ann’s good points might be.

Redeeming Ann would be quite a story arc.

Ann has finally met her match! Nancy will one out with grace and poise, and foil Ann’s attempt to sabotage and undermine The Fuse. Does she know who the financial backer is?

Tom is an attorney!?!?!?

Give it to her Nancy.

At least we know that Tom and the Evil One aren’t married yet. And might never be, since Ann called him an ‘almost fiance’…

There needs to be more escalation! Somebody throw a punch! 8^ )

Yesterday was better. Tonight Ann kinda pulled Nancy down to her level. However I enjoyed “almost fiancé.”

Maybe Tom will dump her for somebody younger. Tiffany could introduce Dad to her roommate….

she may think she’s gonna marry Tiffany’s father but honestly do ya think he is that stupid? i can never be with anyone that mean to people. if they deserved it that’s one thing but Nancy or Ox doesn’t deserve it. i would not be surprise to find out if she only even went there just to see Tiffany at work and my guess threw it in her face that she’s now working.

hence why she ended up crying, the more she talks it seems like Tiffany’s tears were more of rage you would think. to bad this is a comic strip Anne deserved to be cussed out and you can only say certain things in a comic strip sadly

I’m liking this arc. Maybe EvilAnnie will finally get her comeuppance.

Now, we can HOPE this is where Ann is no longer able to pull the wool over Tom’s eyes, and he cuts her loose with corroborating proof of her abuse to Tiffany (and others)

I am beyond thrilled. After Nancy’s hand-wringing last week when Tiffany had her meltdown, I was afraid she might cave.

How funny would it be if Frank & Nancy were Tom’s clients? They would have needed a lawyer to draw up the paperwork to get licences and permits for opening the Fuse?

“Not yet, but I am balling up my fists to address the issue directly.”

Attorney? In my many years working in the big city, I noticed that only teachers and attorneys found it necessary to introduce themselves and include their professions.

She’ll need a cleaver from the kitchen to treat Ann properly.

Between yesterday and today, WHY I’m I getting the impression that Ann is working up to asking for a job at the fuse as a manager?

I was going to give it to Nancy. But the “almost fiancé announcement,” the bombshell that Tom’s a lawyer, and the fact that the battle has moved from the table to the bar makes me want to call this round a “Draw.”

Ann’s angling here. Looking for a lawsuit and Positioning herself for a knockout blow. If Tom IS having money problems (Something I doubt) what better way to earn some dough than suing the Fuse?

I take it back. Ann doesn’t want a job at the Fuse. She wants the Fuse!

Too bad The Fuse doesn’t have video cameras so they could show Tom the way she treats the staff. Tom must be like the referees in professional wrestling. They never see what the bad guys are doing. Tom needs his eyes opened.

Ann, if your “almost” fiance sues are you gonna fork up a retainer. If he can’t cover the billing hours his bottom line will suffer. Plus he probably has partners to deal with.

Oh, Nancy- you invite Ann to leave the premise and Ann is negotiating her departure with a double entendre -a menacing reference to an attorney who is available for a costly lawsuit or for a price, the menacing reference would go alway. A logic that children use to gain leverage over a parent, but Nancy is going break that “leverage”

I have a problem with this arc. Ann has been seen at The Fuse for the third or fourth time and not a single time has TJ seen her? And Ox? He served her. And he didn’t recognize her? Come on GnK. You can do better than that. Stop pretending nobody at The Fuse knew Ann from their previous jobs at Weenie World. And Tiffany knew about Ann at Weenie World also and she hasn’t talked to Ox and TJ about it? And Ann has been there and nobody knows she is Les’ mother and Al Gray’s sister. Sloppy writing and massive lapses.

I still expect something to come from Ann’s selling the counterfeit Souffle merchandise. Tiffany had the evidence. Les talked her out of it after receiving advice from Al. Then he gave it to Ann in exchange for loan forgiveness.

Now, I keep multiple copies of everything so that I have proof of what I submitted. Doing that might not occur to Les or Tiffany, but it would not surprise me that Al has a copy squirreled away somewhere. And he will produce it when it suits him to do so.

Which might happen very soon, with Ann causing trouble in the venue that Al manages.

Yeah I’m gonna go ahead and call her Karen.

Lawyers are not impressive. Threats are not their style. It gets them in trouble if they do it, and their clients are often in trouble because they acted up and made what could be considered threats. Kicks outta this comic strip. Aloha.

Does she really want to take it that far and risk all about her being revealed in a courtroom?

I’m hoping somebody is getting a good video of this whole thing so Tom can see her true colors. I mean, isn’t somebody always taking a video of bad behavior these days?

I like Nancy’s request for Ann to leave. Polite and absolutely legal. Refusing to depart the premises is trespass and she can be prosecuted for it. That’s in real life, though. I wonder how it will play out in the comics. :D

And if Frank and Nancy are as hard up for money as this arc first implied, this could be the end of the Fuse.

Remember, it’s not the merits of the case, or even if the case ever gets to court.

It’s the cost of “lawyering up” that puts most of us out of business.

And from the looks of it, as I said the other day, if Nancy throws Ann out – even though she deserves it – it still looks like curtains for the Fuse.

Last time I saw a confrontation like this, Tokyo ended up getting stomped.

Ooh I am loving this! Ann goes running to Tom with a sob story, Tom does some digging into the case like a good attorney would and finds out how Ann has been treating everyone, including his own daughter, and Ann is out on her rear!

I don"t think that treating her as she deserves to be treated is legal.

Time for the big girls to get it on…actually Eiffel is a child, and Nancy is all woman.

Excuse me? Nothing has been done that would hold up in court. Nancy is well within her rights to kick Ann out, nothing Ann or Tiff’s dad can do about it, and Tiff’s dad would tell Ann so if he knew. There is also proof that Ann has been antagonistic without cause to other employees. She’s got nothing.

Get her Nancy!! Oh yeah, “Nancy won’t go Mama Bear,” Say it with the rest of us now, you were wrong.

If he’s your almost fiance then he has no real intention of marrying you.

Nancy still has no idea that Ann is dating Tiffany’s dad. It would be wise if some of Nancy’s family and co-workers would tell Nancy all they know about Ann. We know that Tiffany, Ox, TJ and maybe Les are in the building right now. Why don’t any of them come out and talk to Nancy?

The readers and commenters have often criticized G&K for leaving unsolved endings in their arcs, even some after two weeks. Starting to appear that Nancy will discover how Tiffany, TJ (who I think still has to make an appearance), and Brad and Les have connections to Ann.

GO NANCY, GO NANCY, GO, GO, GO! Spectacular! Dunno if this will be the beginning of a long, terrible war in which Ann will try with all her means to close The Fuse. But I like this!

I would like to see Ann wearing some kind of sauce in this scene.

Here’s a little plot-twist for you; Eiffel ends up renting Nancy’s empty room.

For some reason I am not sure Tom is a lawyer. It is just the kind of empty threat that Ann would make up. “Everybody is afraid of being sued” kind of mentality. I would not be surprised if Nancy DID have an inkling of who Ann is. Nancy is a mom and fairly perceptive. I don’t think all the shenanigans Ann has been pulling are totally unknown. Maybe not specifics, but I can’t image, with all of the people in the Fuse who have interacted with Ann that some of her toxicity would not have made it to Nancy’s ears. I would not be surprised if, when Ann first came in, Nancy didn’t know who she was, but after seeing how things were going, put two and two together and figured it out. Just my two cents.

being asked to leave is not going to stand up as a law suit. as people already pointed out places can refuse service and annie doesn’t want that to comeo ut in public-a parade of employees and former employees swearing under oath how unpleasant she is.

as for ‘improve’ I don’t remember anyone asking her before she spouted off. “If you don’t like it, feel free to leave.” she’s already been told that. “don’t come back” is next on the line.

The staff have to be watching this confrontation from a distance. After Ann leaves they will all applaud Nancy. It’s a shame that Frank and Luann missed her performance

Lots of exposition going on here. It’s being done the old-fashioned way; via dialogue.

Tom may be brought to bear, but it IS his daughter’s workplace, and if he were to inquire among the staff, they all have their own Annie Awful stories to tell. Ann is in the process of sealing her own doom…and Nancy’s not done with her yet.

Well this is more like it! Nancy is in battle mode and letting Ann have it. And I find it VERY revealing that Tom is an “almost fiancé” and not a REAL one yet. After all this time Ann hasn’t been able to seal the deal. She not exactly in the catbird seat——-yet.

Too bad someone can’t catch Ann being this mean and video it. Lawyers love evidence and that would be undeniable evidence as to her character and especially if it was regarding her treatment of Tiffany.

Whatever happened to that couple that TJ pointed Nancy towards on May 8? Hope somebody is taking care of them.

Where is Al in all of this? Isn’t he supposed to be a manager/ business partner to the DeGroots?

Isn’t Mr Gray (Grey?) part owner and Ann’s brother? Somehow I don’t think he will appreciate the direction that Ann is taking this confrontation.

I’m an attorney. Ann is not a member of a protected class so her lawsuit would be tossed very quickly. In fact, in order to sue she’d have to commit perjury by claiming she was kicked out for an unlawful reason. Any business worth it’s salt would have security cameras and they would show that Ann was kicked out for her behavior and not her race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation etc. No reasonable attorney would take Ann’s case because there would be no evidence to support her case. The Degroots’ lawyer wouldn’t even have to put in a weeks worth of work to get this tossed on summary judgment.

The most likely thing to happen is that this story line goes until Saturday, and will be dropped , gone, and forgotten on Monday.

Having been a practicing attorney (Airmen called out people like me who mention it, but so sue me -:) threatening to have your lawyer “almost fiancé” threaten to sue someone is not the kind of threat one might think. Any bona fide lawyer has too much to do to file frivolous lawsuits, and judges can be very unforgiving on those, because they clog up court calendars, so I don’t put much store in Ann’s ploy. Besides Nancy is backed up by three people who have beaten Ann in one way or another, Ox, her bitter son Les, and her fellow, but reformed grifter type, TJ. But Nancy will handle this herself. Nancy is a grown woman, not intimidated by a a poor excuse for a succubus like Ann, so the denouncement is left to the furtive imagination of Greg and his own Karen. , Nancy is the heart of this strip, a BIG, tough and tender heart. Ann has not run into that.

Someone stood up to Ann. Kudos for her!! About time someone had the gonads to do that. A bully usually backs off when someone calls their bluff.

I seem to remember that her “Almost Fiance” is somehow involved in the FUSE also, or am I wrong about that?

What does Ann think she’s doing? Does she really want to risk going to court over not being waited on by Tiffany?

If that happens, no matter how many crocodile tears she pours on the courtroom floor, Ann will risk all her dirty secrets becoming world news. Imagine how that would affect Tom Farrell. He’s going to look stupid for always sticking by her, the firm could fire him and he could face jail time for being a possible accomplice. He’s going to wish he had listened to Tiffany when he had all those chances.

Pohka and some others pointed out that Tiff and Tom both indicated that Tom was a “businessman,” not an attorney. So either Awful Annie’s lying, Tiff has no idea what her daddy does or it’s just another Luanniverse anachronism. Probably lying.

This ploy is just a repeat of her arc at Weenie World. Awful Annie is one of the most consistent characters in Greg’s stable; perhaps the most!

Time to call the cops.

When did they move to the bar?

’m betting Ann loses it and hits Nancy, in front of witnesses. Nancy calmly turns, calls the police, and presses charges for Assault & Battery. The police as a matter of routine run a check for Wants & Warrants. The police find there are multiple warrants for Ann’s arrest for the various scams she has run. Tom takes her cases Pro Bono until he runs Discovery on the cases and finds they are air tight against her, that Tif has been telling the truth about Ann, Tom and Tif reconcile, and Tom starts paying for Tif’s life style and education. Ann goes to prison.

I see the police showing up on Saturday to remove an unruly customer.

“Not yet… but I’m getting close.”

A restaurant owner may reserve the right to refuse service to any customer they believe is behaving in an unacceptable manner.

That includes being rude and/or disruptive, and disrespecting/abusing the staff.

“Then leave”…LOL

Regarding Ann’s comment about improving the place, I have wondered about the economics of the fuse for a while. It does seem to be in trouble financially (or at least not very profitable), and their hasn’t been any focus on or solution presented to scale it up/“improve” the business. The efforts seem to have been on cutting costs, but not offering more (again, improving). Not usually signs of a stable buisness. A business plan and some consensus on future goles could help with that. It may be time for Ann to leave, but it may also be time for the fuse to close.

Also, comments like Nancy’s “then leave” are why many buisness offer and encourage subscription plans. The company has your money regardless of their staffs behavior – they know their staff can be rude as any customer. The only reason Ann comes across as entitled (Karen) in this is she hasn’t paid yet. Otherwise, yes, she is entitled to a certain level of service, or her money back.

I don’t like her. No redeeming qualities at all and I guess that’s the point. We’re not supposed to like her.

I also feel like Les and Tif are inevitably going to be drawn into this confrontation. Hopefully not but highly likely I think.

I don’t care about the legality (having come from a long line of outlaws), so a recording of this exchange would be invaluable — not for blackmail, but for enlightenment.

This is a VERY satisfying story arc. About time a real adult got in Eiffel’s face! (Nothing against Luanne and her crew, but there’s a world of difference between an 18-year-old and a 40-year-old!)

There are 2 more days left in this week’s story. Will someone be involved besides Ann and Nancy? Who would Ann least like to see right now? Al, TJ, Toni, or somebody else?

I was hoping for more fireworks. But Nancy is doing well!

Surely, there are better cows out there; I SO glad somebody is finally speaking to her as she should be spoken to.

Oh boy, Nancy better start connecting the dots, remembering that “Ann the Thief” scammed all those patrons in HER establishment with her “nighty” lingerie show some time back. Luann, Tiffany and Les better chime in quick to clue her in and give Ann the “treatment” she deserves.

She is such a good villain. Her and dirk should get together.

I miss brad and Toni

This scene might be the precursor to the reveal of the illegal lingerie party. If Anne tries to sue, all this will come out and that will be the end of the relationship with the “almost” fiance. Tiffany should still have documentation of that party along with Les. Oh boy!!!

Ann seems more out of sorts and less clever than usual. Possibly Ann knows Tiffany is flunking school and Tiffany knows Ann knows it – therefore Tiff won’t go to Ann’s table. Ann may have planned a major confrontation with Tiffany to force her to move in with Ann & Tom.

To all Ann haters – Note comments are approaching 500 today. When you have Batman, you need the Joker.

When Ann said:“I’m trying to help you improve this place,” Nancy should have replied: “Oh really? Because I don’t recall asking for your help. The other customers seem satisfied, but if you’re not, I suggest you patronize another establishment.”

And, if Ann continued to be loud and belligerent. then Nancy could have politely told her she was creating a disturbance and she has to leave. NOW!

Here’s my take on future strips:

Anne will find out someway about Tiff’s grades and convince her dad to cut her completely off from any money. Sooner or later I can see Tiff moving in with the Degroots

I LOVE that Nancy sees Ann for what she is. I am so ready for Ann to lose it, have it captured on everyones phone so Tom finally sees what Tiff has been telling him.

I am SOOOO loving this! I think every reader is dearly hoping for Anne’s downfall. Do NOT mess with a mama-bear, and Nancy is in full-on Mama-Bear mode! Well, close, anyway.

I think it would be a hoot if Tom told Ann that The DeGroots are clients of his so it would be a conflict of interest for him to represent her so she should not try to bring a lawsuit. He should also tell her it’s a lawsuit she could not and would not win.

I think after all this time Ann has finally found the wrong set of feet to step on, and her early warning system is in the “off” position.

Anne has been bullying young adults and children up to now. It’s different when she confronts an adult, particularly a mom who has dealt with recalcitrant children….
