Instead of a trip to Maui, will we see Tom spending some quality father-daughter time in Pittsville, helping Tiff clean up the mess she’s gotten herself into?
YES!!! There it is: proof that Greg still has his marbles. Speaking through Tiff’s dad he’s showing he still has a grasp on reality. At least as far as adults go. But for young adults, I still say he is clueless about their reality in the 21st century…
Well, I confess I’m somewhat surprised. I fully expected GnK to have Dad pleased with his “little girl’s” business sense. That would have been a really weak plot.
Whether or not Tom Farrell is a good parent is not the issue. The issue is Tiffany is an adult without the sense God gave a soda cracker! Definitely a case of wasted tuition money on that one. Maybe she needs to go to the community college with Luann. Tomorrow she’ll ask if they’re still going on vacation.
Yup, Tiffany. That. HOA will shut your dad down and fine him – that is, if they find out. Maybe the city officials see you on social media doing business without proper credentials and as a non-owner of the house – your house is a public record, you know? That record is likely to show just your dad’s name. They don’t know you’re his daughter and could be a squatter for all they know. They’re likely to check for any records of legitimate business out of that house and send somebody to your house. You don’t want that. Shut your Waremanse pronto. And Bets? She is supposed to be business savvy. How did she miss that the whole thing would get Tiff in trouble? Or did she not care? Not her house. Not her problem?
Finally. Thanks Dad for reining in this nonsense! Now can she get everything back to the correct owners? And is Daddy’s warning of burglars and predators a preview of what’s to come next?
It’s nice to see Tom finally help his daughter by giving her the advice the college didn’t tell her, she didn’t remember, or she conveniently decided not to remember. I hope this makes Tom decide to spend more time with Tiffany and really take a vacation together, to discuss with her about business and life a lot.
But it still stuns me that it never occurred to Tiffany, who’s supposed to possess at least basic intelligence, that she should have asked her father before moving a ton of other people’s stuff into his house.
Hopefully the next strip will feature Dad telling Tiffany to call all of her clients, give them their money back, and tell them they have to come and take all of their stuff. She can look forward to two or three days of having to deal with some very angry people.
Well, a mansion is always a target for burglary. Whether or not it’s illegal depends on zoning and licensing laws. There may be nothing illegal about it though she might need to retroactively get a license and change insurance. The lawsuit aspect from clients is certainly an issue especially if she didn’t have them sign anything.
A good business tycoon father would recognize his daughter’s desire to succeed at something business wise. He should help her back up a few steps (yards) and coach her in a direction that will help her succeed. Question is, is Mr. Ferrell going to slow his tycooning down a bit to do it?
So many doomsayers. I think he is gonna advise her and arrange for a facility to warehouse the stuff, come up with a fee structure, and have her be part of it. Or he may invest in a storage unit facility. We pay $325 per month for a 10/30 unit. It is not climate controlled but for wath we store is not needed. The place has various sized units and has 75 of them plus room for people to park their boats and RVs. There is some retail such as boxes, moving blankets, bubble wrap, locks, packing tape, etc. Most of it is taking in the noney, and plowing or grounds upkeep.
So if Tiffany was running a legal business from her home with the proper permits and licenses, would that somehow protect her from robbers and predators? All homes have things of value it them and they don’t all get targeted by thieves. I doubt that thieves would want to carry away a bunch of storage items that are not high value.
She has created a mutually beneficial bailment which requires the bailee(Tiff) to take “reasonable” care of the property. No contract is required. A court likely would find storing property in a common unsecured area and allowing other people access to the storage area is not reasonable care.
Why do the Evans keep insisting on dumbing down Tiffany, dreaming up all of these painfully stupid plotlines for her to follow, with predictable consequences? Even when Tiffany is allowed to go up a few notches in character development, it is only to be knocked down two or three at some later point. They must really despise this character.
It’s encouraging to see the recognition that dad is doing what he should, and the expression of hope that he will do better by being with and talking with, being reasonably involved with her. She has grown enormously as a person, but her naivete (and that of Bets and Gunnie) is kind of cute, they come from Luannverse (well Bets, to her benefit has become part of it too) so reality may be a bit missing. Still waiting to aee what comes next, don’t want to hazard a guess yet.
So dad doesn’t freak out about her loading the mansion with other peoples crap, he’s more worried about legal and financial implications, oh and burglars.
First off, I was wrong about dad’s reaction. I certainly understand his point, but I thought he might applaud her desire to follow in his footsteps as a business person. regarding the “I must have missed that day” comment, business courses that I’ve taken taken talk more about big business than small business. On the other hand I remember when she had to come up with an idea for a small business so she should have gotten the basic information of what you need to do to start a business, like get licensed and insured. The thing of it is, she didn’t see herself starting a business, it started as a way to help her fellow students and make a few bucks on the side. Why did she start advertising anyway?
Well, look who he married…At least Tiffany is trying to earn an honest living. You would think that her father would at least support her, but he’s nothing but a greedy, egotistic man. Yes, Tiffany did take a business course, but she may not have been paying attention concerning running a business out of a home. There are a lot of people that do that, especially because of the pandemic. Too bad she doesn’t know any lawyers that could advise her on what to do, or maybe she thinks she can get away with it.
Tomorrow, as Bets is thumbing through one persons jewelry and Tiffany is playing on the drums, all the while pooh-poohing Daddy Farrells’ warnings, two very suspicious characters in trench coats show up needing to get some of their stuff out of storage.
And the bottom line is WHY would ANYONE choose to leave their belongings with some air head college student who lives in a big house when you could have your own storage unit and your own set of keys? Tiffany wasn’t offering that good of a deal. The whole premise of this story is stupid.

Well, what do you know? Mr. Farrell reads the comment section of this strip! LOL
Truth is, Tiff would have been aware of all those things, since she took a business course.
She may have held some items in her garage for college buddies… but she never would have taken it any farther.
.
So what is Mr Farrell going to do?
