Well, there’s a big surprise!! I called it and so did lots and lots of other people here. We rock! ;) lol

So now we’ll see just how dilapidated this lodge is. It doesn’t look really good from the outside.

So will they all be spending Christmas at this tiny cabin or will they decide to head back home?

Will they be able to leave or be stuck until spring?

Yeah, they did this to themselves.

Uh-oh. They did not take the word of Frank’s boss that it is a cabin and not a room in a lodge.

That was expected.

We all called it. I don’t think anyone thought it would be above a one star place. Brrr, it sure looks like a cold cabin, but that is what we expected. Where’s the outhouse?

What’s wrong with it? There’s something very nice about spending Christmas in a tiny cabin with those you love.

Listen closely. Do you hear banjo music? Or is it the theme from The Twilight Zone?

And there is one twin bed and 2 straight back chairs. Good times……

Anyone here played Simpsons tapped out recently? The similarities.

Some of the best times I’ve ever had have been under similar circumstances. One such place was a tiny cabin, much like this one, in the Himalaya. It was primitive, but warm and comfortable.

Luann will be sending out a SOS to Les and Gunther to come save them.

Do all four of them expect to squeeze into that shoe box? Isn’t that carrying “family togetherness” a bit too far??

This reminds me of the movie Dr. Zhivago when Dr. Z. and Lara (played by the magnificent Julie Christie) were snowed in during a harsh Russian winter. Bleak, cold, snowy, and remote, not a Starbucks to be seen. Darn Russian Revolution messed up everything.

whoever called it a lodge needs their head examined. its a cabin.

Gads the ‘Zeus Lodge’ sign is nearly half as big as th cabin.

Reminds me of the novel and the movie, “The Shack”. What an uplifting and vivid story.

Ok, gang, we once agreed that it would be the “lodge experience” OR “the trip".

Go back and read this strip. First ignoring the GPS, they mistake the cabin (a.k.a. Lodge) for the “gatehouse” ; and start looking for the “Lodge”. The SIGN on the far side may be for us as they drive off into a storm … still looking.

Well, there’s four of them in the lodge does not look big enough for two bunk beds.

Looks like a dream lodge to me!

Hopefully there’s a big woodpile. The outhouse experience is going to be a cold one.

As they drive deeper into the woods and get stuck. This could get dangerous! Someone ventured that they would find a nice mansion down the road – maybe the security system will alert a cute Ranger for Luann and he can make them all comfortable down at the station while he fills out the trespassing paperwork.

What a let down. Who wants to stay in an old and cold rundown cabin? Turn around and go find a nice inn to stay in.

Years ago, we decided to rent a cabin at a State Park for a week in the fall. We didn’t research too well (pre internet) but we were think like a ski chalet. Big fireplace comfy furniture. What we got was a one room cabin. No bathroom, no fireplace, no running water, no electricity. Just a bed, a picnic table and a propane stove to cook on. And we had the greatest time. Going on hikes, playing cards, cooking food outside, campfire at night. More fun than at a ski chalet

Yep. just as I called it – a run down shack.

I had a feeling that this was going to happen.

I’m wondering if there is a really nice lodge just up the road and this first one is just the entrance to the main one. I hope so for them.

The name “Zeus Lodge” is a joke. Zeus is the legendary god of weather, particularly BAD weather. They’re going to be stuck there for a while.

Let me guess. Frank picked this place? If he doesn’t understand how to use GPS, he’s likely never heard of Google either.

Lodge in this case is a rustic cabin, and, not a resort. As Ivex said, we’ll see how “rustic” it is inside. I have a feeling if it’s too “rustic” Luann and Nancy will have them returning home in the morning.

I can hardly wait to see the “rustic” interior. Hope there is dry fire wood inside.

Cozy! Maybe Zeus Cabin is more appropriate. ;-))

We went snowmobiling and stopped for the night at a friend’s summer camp. We thought it would be okay for the night, but it wasn’t very pleasant. We found it hilarious, a week later. Now it is just a good story of what not to do.

I’ll bet it’s very homey and comfortable INSIDE! (once they get a fire going, and light the kerosene lamps)!

Is there anyone who didn’t predict this?

one year we rented a lakeside cabin for a family Thanksgiving, on snowy night at 10pm, we arrived, went down the steps, and noticed lights and sound coming from inside…upon knocking, we discovered another family already ensconced, one of the family forgot to tell the other that it was not avaiable… we ended up waking theproperty manager, who had to get out of bed, meet us down at the town office and find us another site…we ended up with a 3 level condo on a golf course, one of the best trips ever!

After they find the “lodge” I picture the DeGroots spending a week suddenly motivated into making repairs. They fix it all up and end up buying DeGroot Camp.

The only issue I have is the HUGE YELLOW SIGN on the front, as if it’s a restaurant or something.

Is it just me, or is the lodge on the side of the car opposite the way Luann was pointing?

Yep, a hovel, just like I predicted in the first day of this story.

That’s the “lodge” that the VP lets his employees use….the real lodge for him and his country club friends is 5 miles away on a resort style lake with a golf course

It’s aptly named Zeus Lodge when there were just a few Greek gods around and he couldn’t afford to build a palace on Mount Olympus yet.

The basement under the lodge has an indoor pool, bowling alley, game room & theater. Now that would be funny!

Didn’t anyone think to ask for photos of interior/exterior and possibly a selfie of the owner in and around the cabin; ask if hot and cold running water, inside toilet, gas or electric appliances?

I just hope they brought food; the word Lodge implies at least some basic amenities (which that place may not have); surely Frank’s colleague would have given him information about what to bring and what to expect. Next week they go back to the “guard house” and find the truth.

I haven’t been following this ‘toon for years, like some folks here, but I can’t remember any other time when all of us were saying the same thing…

Maybe Zeus’s Lodge is huge, and that is just the outhouse.

A beautiful rustic cabin. I’m sure Frank will be happy about it. But dunno what Nancy, Luann and Brad will think. Or Joe played a really bad joke on Frank, or him totally misunderstood what kind of place it was. But maybe the place holds some surprises. Beautiful landscapes, interesting neighbors, a nice fireplace. Everything will become a great memory. Plus, Luann will end up with a fun story to wrote.

The simpsons tapped out has it similar right now. Family is at the cabin based on grandpa’s will.

There’s room for them or their stuff. Not both.

All too predictably, “Zeus Lodge” is a shack (or, as Lulu put it, “the guardhouse!”). Now what?
