This sounds like they are heading out to join Brenda Starr at the Old Comics Home. Wonder if the web page will just go back to the beginning of the series – Like For Better or Worse – and repeat everything – or if there will be new episodes. Looks like regular readers are going to miss the wedding!
sadly, the death of newspapers, (And journalism in general) had to lead to the death of all things newspaperish, like the comics. Pity, but I am sure the iPhone generation will hardly notice.
Hi, everyone, this is Carla from On a Claire Day. Yes, this is our last day of the strip. We can’t say enough what it’s meant to us to have you reading this strip every day. We’ve done it for eight years now, and with all that’s happened with the newspaper business (going away, basically!) we’ve had to bring this to an end. But, if you have a smart phone, you can view the archived strips on Comikka.com. We hope to keep the story going, but for now it’ll be the archived ones. Also, please keep in touch with us directly at fans@comikka.com. We would love to hear from you. THANK YOU AND WE WILL MISS YOU!!!!!!
Thank you much, Ms. Ventresca – marvelous comics for so many reasons. By the way, in my comment, I made an error: it’s “comikka.net”; just want to change that. I’ll look forward to looking at the archived ones and hope that at some point in near future, to see your wonderful drawings again soon.
I love On a Claire Day! I especially love the dog and cats’ antics. I don’t have a smartphone, so how do I read it when new strips appear online? Where do I go?
Best wishes & many thanks for a great story! One of my favorite dailies of all times. Real and intelligent with humor and not mean-spirited nor sappy. I hope Claire & Paul have a beautiful life together!
Well, you DID give us warning. I hope to continue checking in with the classics (not Brenda Star or Mary Worth-not to my liking ever) but more like Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbs, Cul de Sac, Fat Cats . . . and others who just decided to retire or . . .
I will never be tired of finding the ridiculous and sublime in everything around me (and commenting on my own adventures and foibles such as they are especially if I think someone might be slightly shocked.
I have no smart phone (still use my land line mostly and a cell that I just buy packages of minutes -about $50/year).
I used to be on the cutting edge of gadgets when I had a good salary in engineering and I may eventually get a smart phone (or comikka.com might show up on a normal PC if I’m lucky – have not tried yet).
OK- I can see the original strips I remember (from when Claire first started her apartment – does NOT seem long ago). The site only shows 1 panel at a time (and borders change, so I can’t always click exactly the same place) but it’s not bad (and 1 panel would be fine on a tiny phone screen).
I don’t think I ever saw this strip in a newspaper, but thank GoComics for carrying On A Clair Day. Will follow you to comikka and where ever you land! Thanks for a great comic strip!!
Aww I’m really sad to see you guys go. This was a very sweet and entertaining comic. Good luck with your futures kids and I hope to see you on the flip side.
Oh no! This is my Favorite comic of all times. What can we as fans to help you to continue the adventures? Crowd sourcing etc. It would be a shame to see Claire’s adventures end. Let us know what you need. There are many of us that may be able to assist you in finding what you need.
I tired to access commika on my iphone but I couldn’t access the comics. I hope Claire continues on Comics.com. It is a great strip and was always interesting and on point. I’ll miss it. Please let us know it will continue here.
Whoa, I only found this strip a few months ago. Glad Carla commented. While I totally understand about the newspaper business, the end seems so abrupt.
I hope this strip can eventually continue online, and Carla/Henry can get paid for it.
Best wishes, Carla & Henry; I will miss you. Thank you so much for the great entertainment over the years. ( I’ll try comikka on my laptop——no smartphone.) You really have a GREAT comic! Thanks for all your work that I’ve enjoyed for so long.
Noooooooo….don’t go!!! I want to see how Claire handles wedding preparations and then hoping she would have a baby!!!! It would be hilarious!! So sad, but wishing Carla & Henry the best!
I’m so sad to see this strip go! I’m about the same age and in similar life situations as Claire and it’s been wonderful reading about things I deal with presented with such humor and wisdom. Thank you for the past 8 years! When I found the strip about 6 years ago, I actually went back and read all the archived strips on goComics so I would be all caught up. I really have loved reading this every day and I’ll definitely miss it. Hopefully, I’ll see Claire and Paul pop back up on my daily goComics list someday.
I really enjoyed this strip. I only found it about 2010; I really wish I’d found it sooner. I’m going to miss Claire and the dogs and Lulu of course. This is a very sad day.
Aw,man! Not another one leaving! Did NOT see this coming! We won’t even get to see Gianni and Lily’s relationship blossom! Bummer that this is ending. I was really looking forward to seeing the build-up to the wedding. Oh,well, thanks for giving us such a sweet comic all these years. I’ll (sniff) miss you! :(
Bummer. I was looking forward to the wedding, the italian soap opera downstairs, the friends, etc. Never read it on newspaper always on go comics, and even before on comics.com. comika.net does not work on a pc or a mac properly. sad, sad day.
Hello, again, On a Claire Day readers! The official end to the strip was Saturday, June 14. Hopefully they will be continuing the archived strips here on GoComics. You can also find them on Comikka.com on a smart phone. Our email is fans@comikka.com if you’d like to keep in touch with us. (We would love to hear from you!) Thank you again for all the well wishes. We hope to be back again soon with more Claire & Paul, or perhaps a new story altogether. Thank you and we’ll miss you!!!!!!!
It’s incredibly sad to see this ended. Looking back at this comic, there are sweet moments, funny moments and a generally positive outlook. Really love the artstyle because its simplicity is very elegant and cute.
According to Wikipedia, there is supposed to be an animated feature from this comic. Are there still plans for that, or is it cancelled silently? I would like to see how an animated Claire (and friends) feature plays out.
Well now I’m really upset. I had been reading the old Claires at Comikka.com. It had been a couple of days since I had the time. Tonight when I went there, I got this message:
This site is for mobile devices.
