When my step-grandmother moved into my father/stepmother’s house, she was given my bed and I was given the king-size, two-person bed from the guest room (I would get the sofa in my apartment when my brother and his wife come to visit).
Gunther? You REALLY need to get that job that a certain (a-hem) “poster” here, suggested yesterday. You may also want to consider dropping out of college and working full time for the rest of your life, so you can afford a nice two bedroom apartment. You’ll need the extra bedroom for Irma.
Because if Al ain’t on the up and up, as per Ann Eiffel’s revelation that the two of them once ran cons together, then you and your mom will not only soon end up homeless, but will have given away just about everything you OWN.
And when that day comes, I’ll wager your mom will STILL be “Tee-Heeing” all the way.
Please, Please can’t wait to the wedding and Los Vegas and hilarity ensuing. Why wouldn’t Irma and Al be entitled to love with each other? Everyone does not have to be a young couple to be valid, and extremely in love. I hope Gunther eventually learns how to do that himself.
Having grown up without a father, Gunther is uncomfortable for it’s his mother’s sudden sexuality and the bed is associated with that so he gave it a pass.
Wasn’t the guest house already furnished? And somehow I can’t see Les being OK with his home being stocked with old furniture previously owned by a middle aged woman.
Irma says her and Mr. Gray are going to be sharing a king sized bed …. I would have thought Al would prefer the sleeping arrangement depicted in countless movies and tv shows, … twin beds separated by two bedside tables …..
These panels show how masterful an artist Greg Evans is; the detail of the furniture, how it’s set in the frame, how the characters seem to point across the room to it, how it’s centered, really is a treat to the comic reader’s eyes. See, now you see why I am Luannfan#1
For many people starting out, donated furnishings that you know were taken care of and that don’t hide hidden surprises are gladly accepted. If Irma got rid of items before asking her son if he could use them or wanted them, how many would be commenting on how thoughtless she was?
I truly cringe at the way Irma so freely and animatedly proclaims to Gunther the various little nuggets of her current/future sexual activities ‘ole Al. I would have thought a) that Irma would understand Gunther’s discomfort about hearing about such things, and b) that Irma is so “gushing” about the topic.
Now, do not get me wrong. It is quite funny (in a cringy way). And, I am sure that is why it is part of Greg’s effort here. And I am not saying that saying that Irma and Al should in any manner be dour in their “proclivities”…. I am glad that Irma is enthused (and perhaps we will see Al show similar enthusiasm (perhaps raising one of his eyebrows a millimeter or two would like be his “ecstatic” reaction).
Onto the furniture….. no matter how much you may feel you are in need of a couch….. Gunther….. PLEASE you have to change your mind and turn down the offer of that Victorian-esque monstrosity. The table and chairs…. yeah, that will be “ok”. And, for the bed…. I don’t know….. it is a rather plain wrought iron bed…. and stripped of all the frilly crap it could be fitted into a “guy” style bed. And, think of this… it is at least a full sized bed…. not the twin you had. If at some point, Gunther, you were to venture into “proclivities” of your own with a female….. it would be a lot better than a twin.
I have a LOT of comments in my favorites, but this is BY FAR the one with the most comments. Like, four times over. What makes this one so comment-stimulating? And SO many different opinions. Wow. FWIW, not all the plot-lines here are going to be juicy, attention-grabbing ones. Sometimes they are just the normal-run-of-the-mill ones. Take it in stride, people.

Gunthy’s mom, the bride-to-be Irma, is getting the over-protectiveness out of her system, I hope. But, even so, Gunny must resist being manipulated in his already-onerous house-sharing arrangement with Leslie the User….
how’s this: Gunther helps Leslie out of a jam by using his trusty sewing machine to stitch up / repair a jacket or pants for him before an important “big date”, only discovering after that the date is with Tiffany.

There are some things that Gunther doesn’t need to share with Leslie.

At this rate, Al will need to make the guest house bigger just to hold all the furniture moved from the main house.

OK, has Greg completely advocated plot creation to Betsy and Karen, and now he’s simply the artist? It’s really gotten soapy.

I bet Led already has the house furnished. The couch is ugly, even if it is an antique. Gunthie needs to learn to say NO sometimes.
