No Tara? I guess this is going to be one of those “The boys know what they are doing in the wilderness while the girls are a comedy of wilderness ineptitude” stories.
Hmmm. . . Just like the Bernice-Delta trip where they were overjoyed not to have to put up with Luann’s drama and ended up having the most dramatic time ever.
No, Bernie. You forgot to secure the top rack. There go Dez’s mat and a sleeping bag. The challenge for Dez at camp will be meditating and sleeping without the mat. I am not sure if there will be a negotiation, a screaming fest or rock and scissor for the sleeping bag. I fear it will be a test of their friendships.
And it looks like Luann “forgot” to secure her tent and sleep bags(?) Again, I’m “SHOCKED!”
Now, how are they going dole out sleeping arrangements? Jack And Lu share one bag, while Nil and Bernice share the the other? And Dez? She Levitates over her sleeping mat outside, whilst keeping everyone awake, chanting Ooooooooooooooooooom!
Oh, and here’s the “BEST” part! Wait till Lu and Bern find out that Jack And Nil always sleep NUDE!
Hilarity, as Luann1212 says, Ensues!
PS: A very enlightened gentleman elsewhere on the ‘Net, suggested that Dez has neglected to inform Lu and Bern, that they are ACTUALLY going to a Nudist Camp. I HOPE that’s True. And while Jack And Nil would adjust quickly, it’ll be FUN watching Luann petrified with shock while Bernice performs a Chernobyl like Melt Down. ;)
A pity Tara isn’t coming, she’s clever, funny and very attractive. Still, three girls two boys and a shortage of sleeping bags is an interesting dynamic.
Are Jack and Tara a couple – it looked that way earlier? If so, he’s probably too much of a gentleman to fall for another girl, though Luann has proved in the past that she’s good at stealing other girls’ boyfriends.
Is Dez interested in boys? Will we see Bernice the prude or Bernice the party girl?
I’ll be going on a camping trip soon. Ski season in most of the places I go are pretty much well done. :(
This’ll give me an opportunity to see what not to do. Thanks, Greg. Oh, by the way, be kind to Tiffany. In the long run, she’s really carried this place.
Before I forget, a few days ago, someone here was asking where I’d gone, and someone thought I’d passed on. Still here, haven’t assumed room temperature or moved on to the next plateau yet.
I remember when something like this happened to an uncle of mine, what a laugh! How beautiful see the girls start the journey so full of enthusiasm! Even Berbice is happy!!! I hope that Nil and Jack will be able to find them and don’t end up lost, that Luann and Jack will stay a lot together, that Nil will show Bernice some Tim Burton films (maybe “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure”, “Nightmare before Christmas” and “Big Fish”) and that Tara will suddenly appear in the most unexpected moment. This will be so fun!♡♡♡
In years gone by, I built many a chain link fence. Before leaving, I would walk around it once, picking up any scraps or tools that had been dropped.Until I could make it all the way around without finding something, I went around again.
Day 2 of the camping episode: We’ve refined to attendees today. Jack and Nils have been added to the mix. Glad to see Jack back, but especially Nils. Looking forward to Nils and Bernice being thrown together again.
Once again Tara is out of the mix. Another mysterious disappearance or just too many females in the mix for this camping story? Tara hasn’t been along on a date/adventure since the Monster Trucks. Just sayin’.
The obvious set up from today is three gals, two guys. Dez has no dating history with either so she’s odd gal out. I suppose readers are to contemplate the sleeping arrangements at this point. I don’t think the gag will go there. I predict the emphasis for the rest of the week will be on the misery index and “what else can go wrong?”
I wonder if Dez has picked a “primitive” camp site? Maybe the guys will go Neander. Built bonfire. Strip to the waist. Chant. Beat drums. *Oh Wa! Ta Goo! Siam!* ;o)
Of course our dynamic trio forgets to tie down the essentials on the roof…… they truly are OFF :) Both…. the gear…. and the trio! :)
I am glad that Jack and Nil are going with them. It will be sad to not have Tara in the mix… but I can see that there are a lot of personalities to juggle for Greg already.
From what we have learned of Jack in the past…. it seems very possible that he may be a camping neophyte just like I am presuming at least Luann and Bernice are.
But…. what about Dez? Is she actually knowledgable about camping…. beyond the meditative/metaphysical aspects? Not sure.
And… what about Nil ? I think Greg could play Nil’s experience with camping two different ways….. a) being a “goth/emo” kid he could be drawn to be all city/urban focused in his experience, but he could also be b) being a “goth/emo” sort of kid who in some ways tends to be a loner… Greg may surprise us by having Nil have some background experiences of “living off the land” so-to-speak…. maybe a mild bit of “survivalist” or at least a sort of “Life Below Zero” individualism sort of experience in his past.
This has a potential to be very interesting and entertaining!
Awww……I’m so sorry to hear that Tara isn’t going. She would really have stirred things up. Plus, I’ll bet she knows a lot about camping. I doubt Luann and Jack will be sharing a sleeping bag. But, SOMEONE will have to give one up that’s for sure. Looks like the consumer is already in trouble! And was that Dez’s yoga mat also getting tossed out?
When I went camping at Mt Ranier with a school group when I was in middle school, we left the backpacks at the campsite to go explore the entrances of the abandoned copper mines on the hillside. When we returned two hours later, we found that marmots (woodchucks) had eaten through all of the canvas backpacks to get to the all the food not in tin cans. And our counselors thought they had thought of everything too.
As I recall, Dez travels alot and to other countries too, in order to experience other religions and cultures. So she is the more experienced traveler who may be used to bouncing around on back roads in rural areas.
When the posse does join the trio-please do not assume genders can do things (one of the things I loved about Luann changing the tire). I recently ran into the assumption that men know how to do things with cars innately.
I did not know how to jump a car (and this one has a computer so you cannot do what they did in the pre-computer days, you can frak the computer up), so I called AAA.
The female mechanic who drove up in a huge tow truck knew way more than I did, and had us up and running in 4 minutes flat.
I never looked at it from a gender perspective until the other day when it hit me. Women have been dealing with this for centuries, Males have only been dealing with this for the last couple of decades.
This will not be a “campy” camping trip with outrageous, theatrical behavior, it will be a sleep in the rain, mud in your shorts, military survival bivouac sort of adventure.
