Cool, a new pet.

Oh, look, the girls have a little stow-away… I mean visitor in the car. (How much worse can the girls have now? Hopefully not a dead car battery.)

So, are they going to be driven from the car by the ground squirrel? OMG, the “suspense”.

And they even gained one squirrel.

This arc just got even more squirrely than it was before.

At this rate, the squirrel has become the star of the strip!

Actually, during a thunderstorm, if one can’t be inside of a building, the next safest place to be IS inside of a car. It has nothing to do with being a “wuss”.

Let me see how this will go. The squirrel will scare them out of the car which Bernice will accidentally lock them out of and then they get soaking wet and are discovered the next day by a passing park ranger who will turn out to be Quill working his summer job since he failed in his New York acting career due to looting from the blackout.

We have a FOURTH passenger! 1…2…3… and…EEEKKKK, the girls jump out of the car into the thunderstorm!

They could make this really exciting by having them camping close to a wash, and a flash flood coming down…

Good thing they didn’t have a dog in there with them. SQUIRREL! KABOOM!

I suspect the next scene will be girls screaming as they run back out into the rain.

Even worse yet!! Someone has stolen the steering wheel!!

Did anyone notice the squirrel?

Nice drawing in this arc, but, thumbs down on the camping disaster. Time to return to the big question: will Bets and the Gun cross the line?

I was gonna say ‘Let me guess, they ran outta gas’ but it looks like a Tommy Boy scenario hehheh

Okay, that last panel made me chuckle in anticipation. Little guy just wanted out of the rain too; let’s see how they handle him.

This can’t be turning out this well; it has to be "The “Calm Before The Storm”; yes, pun intended

I see this going another way. They get all the way back to town before discovering the squirrel and end up making a dorm mascot out of him.

I’m a bit concerned about their luggage ( and more stuff we can’t see?) that’s left outside of the car.

I liked this story arc but it IS getting a bit squirrely!

Is all their stuff in or outside the car?

Friday night should show them in an all night restaurant. “Three hamburgers and one pecan pie for our guest.”

We’re about to see just how much Dez loves nature when she sees a squirrel next to her. Let’s take a vote, who says she:

1. Freaks out, screams and bolts from the car into the rain.

2. Tries to pick up the squirrel and pet it, thinking it’s just adorable and trying to keep dry.

Bernice is about to have her throat ripped out by a squirrel.

Not all squirrels, raccoons, etc carry rabies.

Oh no … THE SQUIRREL IS INSIDE THE END OF THE WORK !!! A trapped squirrel can be a pain. He can become mad, violent … or he liked the funny faces of Luann and he decides to follow them …? Him/her can become Dez’s future friends…

This will seem funny when they look back at it… maybe.

The squirrel that ate the vittles back for more. Now that it’s been “fed”, it wants to be a pet.

Let’s hope they didn’t camp out in a dry wash.

Next, as they leave the campsite, they run out of gas. And, either there’s no cell reception, or, Luann’s auto club membership expired>

Woah. They did not check out their vehicle very well when the first squirrel attack happened did they?!?!

I would imagine after the several hours that has transpired, the squirrel has very likely urinated over a variety of things…. so the vehicle should be rather unpleasant smelling as well (squirrel urine is similarly potent to that of most rodent urine).

So now the trio will likely need to get soaked…. and will probably have to open all the doors and hatchback to get the squirrel to vamoose…. so the car’s interior will likely get drenched too.

It will not be a pleasant drive home…. even IF the vehicle starts!

Bernice can pronounce the “k” sound at the end of “pack” but not the one at the beginning of “car”?

I really like the way Greg joined two of the panels—“don’t paniK-BOOM!” Very artistic. Very creative. The middle drawing is especially nice. The comic has been very beautiful, the past three days especially.

We’ll see if the car floats away with them in it if they parked in a dry riverbed.

It’s a squirrel. They’re not trapped in the car with a rattle snake or a mountain lion. If the squirrel wants “out” just open a window. Better yet, open a bag of chips and feed him.

I was wondering the other day whether they would find critters among their gear when they returned. Looks like they won’t have to wait.

Years from now, they will look back and laugh at this. They will be like, “remember that camping trip.” “The boys car broke down and never made it, the girls forgot to strap down the camping gear on top of the car, and then it started to rain thunder and lightening.”

“Excuse me ladies but you seem to be out of snacks for me and the rest of us squirrels back here.”

I find this who thing funny and endearing. How else do you learn from life. Reminds me of some of my camping trips and i was an adult by then!!!!!

Hello Mr Squirrel!

I’m surprised I didn’t lock themselves out of the car. But I’m pretty sure they’ve lost the keys!

I looked at the third panel and finally realized where the girls are. College girl Luann DeGroot and her friends went on an innocent camping trip, but now they’ve stumbled down an unfamiliar path into…The Lampoon Zone.

I have been impressed by the art in this arc. I can’t describe why but from the facial expressions to the body positioning, I have found it all very enjoyable.

Maybe there is more than a squirrel in the car… Maybe there is a skunk as well – that would make things interesting.

We’re safe, cozy and dry, all four of us! At least the stowaway isn’t a bobcat!

When I went to Bandera in Texas the lightning was close as was the storm. Ever heard the hiss from lightning frying the air around it? I did and that was the only time in my life. It is hilly there not flat like that Altiplano. Also got to see a clot of harvesters, harmless arachnids in a huge ball.

And, they are bringing the Wilderness Home with them.

I think this is just a passing storm, typical of desert/mountain terrain. Hopefully tomorrow they will emerge (10 min later) to fragrant air (and the squirrel released).

Wait until they discover that squirrel’s entire family is in there already. Considering that they left the car doors wide open for most of the day, the battery has probably gone dead. And sooner or later, they’ll have to get out to retrieve the rest of their luggage. Still…making memories! Have you noticed? Even though they’ve been on their devices half the time, they’ve not actually CALLED anybody. What’s up with that?

I have been talking about the beauty of the strip this week and last. Sheriff Mordecai did breathtakingly beautiful coloring. The sunset on 7-13 was spectacular. The beautiful scenery—the meteors—the lightning—the rain—ALL wonderful!
