“Spoopy is an internet slang term used to describe something that is “spooky” but in a comical or cute way, such as a puppy in a ghost costume or a goofy Halloween video. It is based on a viral picture of a Halloween decoration that misspelled spooky as spoopy."
I love every single detail in this one—even the ones I haven’t discovered yet. Of course, Tillie is my absolute favorite along with new favorites Kitty Moonface and Angel Pucky! Thank you Georgia. This one’s a print it out and stick it on the fridge keeper!
Now we know why Baba always keeps a broom handy. It’s her mulit-purpose tool—cleaning tool, mouse disperser and transportation. And of course Beatrix is her apprentice!
Sunday Funday!!!! The Mega-Orb gives so much, I’d like to give back to the Orb, but of course, I can’t do it alone. Since soon we will no longer need a spoiler zone, I think if we had a designated spot each week for folks to share something fun, great news, a funny story, a joke, anything. This is not to prescribe that this is the only place or time to do it, if you have great news or something to share at anytime, by all means DO so!
Just like the spoiler zone, whoever thinks of it first on a Sunday should start it, even if you don’t have something to share!!!
Wonderfully done, Georgia. I wish I knew how to print it off, I would love to frame it and put it on my kitchen wall!
Off topic, after 5 years of emptiness, the apartment above ours is rented out. I believe it’s to a friend of the landlord. Just have to figure out if it’s the mother, the daughter (late teens or early twenties) or both. She/they seem friendly. I’ll have to bake some banana bread and take it upstairs as a welcoming gift.
This has to be one of the most supportive comment communities ever. That being said, I’m asking for thoughts and prayers today because my Grandma has just entered hospice after being diagnosed with extremely aggressive, rare cancer. Thanks everyone for any thoughts and or prayers.
Halloween, or Hallow’s Eve, or All Hallow’s Eve, is in the Old Religion (pre-Christian, Celtic-Germanic), the festival of Samhain. This is supposed to be the night when the spirit realm and the realm of the living were closest, a night to remember and perhaps meet those who have “passed over” into the spirit realm. It was not necessarily a night of fear and dread, but of reunion and sometimes reconciliation. I think Georgia has captured that perfectly in this strip.
How does the extremely talented and creative Ms. Georgia Dunn come up with such beautifully detailed, love-filled and spirit-lifting masterpieces every single day? So grateful she shares her considerable gifts with the world.
On a related note, here’s a previously-recorded behind-the-scenes look at one of her extras getting ready for this scary sweet night. With a tiny ladybug binky no less!
Y’know, I understand why the story of Millie and Tillie can’t be adapted to the current strip. But, Ms. Dunn, you really should consider turning it into a book.
Love this strip. Love Georgia’s imagination..dont know how she does this day after day, book after book. Keep up this great work. Cant wait for the 2020 calendar and the new books. You are a treasure

From Hair: Aquarius
When the Moon shines full just like a cat,
And the howling wind blows cold without an end,
The ghosts come out and do their dance
With all their living friends!

This is evening of the Dance of the Ghosts and Friends,
Dance of the Ghosts and Friends,
The Ghosts and Friends!
The Ghosts and Friends!
…….
This is no time for the Doom and the Gloom
Kitties flying on their brooms!
Going out, let’s all be spoopy!
Find the Great Pumpkin with Linus and Snoopy!
…….
The Ghosts and Friends!

Couldn’t resist: King Harvest’s Dancing in the Moonlight
We go out on Halloween night
When the Cat Moon is big and bright,
It’s a supernatural delight,
Everybody dancing in the moonlight!
…….
Meeting all our ghost friends out tonight,
Watching Baba’s magic broom take flight,
The night is cool, the moon is bright,
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight!
…….
Dancing in the moonlight!
Everybody’s feeling outta sight!
Ghosts and live dance together for one night!

In the cool of the evening
When Lupin’s gettin’ kind of spoopy
Babba Mouse call Beatrix up and ask her If she would like to go with her on a broom ride
First she says no,
She’s got some plans for the night
And then she stops, and says,
All right
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky Tillie cat like you
You always keep me guessin’
I never seem to know where you are floatin’
And if another ghost looks at you
It’s for sure his little eye will be a-winkin
Elvis howls confused, cause he doesn’t know where the Golden Mouse stands
And then she stops, andand stares at himd
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky Tillie cat like you
Tillie!
If you decide someday to stop this little haunt that you’ve been playin’
I’m gonna open my heart, not gonna lock it up tight
Just like a ghost, you’ve been a-hauntin’ my house
So I’ll dance with you
On Halloween!
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky Tillie cat like you
Tillie!
Tillie!
Oh-whoa, all right,
I said Tillie!
Yeah, yeah
I said Tillie!

It’s early, yet, but perhaps I should put this here.
Loreena McKennit, “All Souls’ Night”
“Bonfires dot the rolling hillsides
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
Moving to the pagan sound
Somewhere in a hidden memory
Images float before my eyes
Of fragrant nights of straw and of bonfires
Dancing till the next sunrise
I can see the lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All Souls Night
Figures of cornstalks bend in the shadows
Held up tall as the flames leap high
The Green Knight holds the holly bush
To mark where the old year passes by
I can see the lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All Souls Night
Bonfires dot the rolling hillsides
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
Moving to the pagan sound
Standing on the bridge that crosses
The river that goes out to the sea
The wind is full of a thousand voices
They pass by the bridge and me
I can see the lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All Souls Night
I can see the lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All Souls Night"
