1) Go ahead and pay for her part in that new shared dorm room.
2) And put the rest in the bank pronto!
3) Or put ALL of it in the bank and write the college a check.
Because IMHO, waving that amount money around is not smart. Sure she’s got nothing to worry about with Bern and Dez, but what about her new roommate(s) when she gets to new smaller room?
Tiffany has never lived with strangers in a dorm room before, and unless her new roommate is Bets, she’d better start using exercise caution. Tiffany will HAVE to learn the concept of “sharing,” as it applies to others. And with some "folks, " concept of “sharing” means helping themselves to whatever is not nailed down, while no one is looking. Remember, Mooney Uni “security” is a joke. It took them quite awhile to catch Tara in the act of “B&E.”
I’d be careful, if I were her. Besides, G&K probably aren’t done torturing her yet….., ;)
Haven’t bought them and eaten them myself yet, but I have found at my grocery store at which I’m employed having on its chip shelves chips made from insects. Insects are a good source of protein after all.
For God’s sake I hope Tiff knows to run to the bank with that kinda cash. We don’t wanna see the ex rich girl leave $3,700 on her dresser while she goes to put on makeup. I’m not worried about Dez or Bern stealing – but their door is probably open quite a bit.
Hold on to that cash because dorm room is not cheap. Add it to your paychecks from work and you should just barely be able to pay for a room. ASU’s room per semester is $7,337.00 and board is $4,872 so that’s over $12K per semester. Considering that the setting for this comic is somewhere in Southern California, that probably goes double. Lots of students skip the board to save money and live on Ramen and cereal. The astronomical prices are one of reasons why people go to community college. Another is to avoid big school loans and lifelong repayment on these loans. I assume Bernice and Dez are student-loan kids and Tiffany was not but now she might have to be because she is not going to make $24,000 per semester from her waitressing job. After the first semester with a taste of an expensive dorm bill, Tiffany is likely to be forced to apply for school loan if she wants a college degree. However, since she only wants to own a business, she likely doesn’t need a degree. Just a business loan with a business plan. Be sure to take that class this semester while you’re still at Moony. You might be forced to drop out next semester.
No Panda dung tea for me either. And I agree with the sentiment that she should make a bank deposit right away. I wonder if she will get use to a smaller room with room mates. As an only child, it was rooming with others that was tough for me although I made the adjustment in the end ( I hope).
Tiffany it’s incredible. if it wasn’t for her speech, Ed wouldn’t have given her $ 50 for all the furniture. I like the way she’s accept the change is doing well. Dez will cuddle her like a mother, with peculiar taste in foods, but with a lot of love.
I don’t understand why she can’t call up her father and nicely explain her financial situation… is he such a demon? And $3700 will not last that long. What’s she going to do when that’s gone? Sell her fat body?
Tiffany living like a normal person! Merdi!! So many (there I go scanning the comments first again) project reality in this, such as putting the money in the bank, but in this instance I agree. Put most in a savings account, the rest in a checking account, get a debit card, instead of the credit one, and be very careful with it. Debit cards used carefully and properly can be both useful and good budget tools. Have to be careful though because it’s your electronic cash. I await developments, and I hope Bets and Gunther come into the arc soon—please—to help her, but see Luannverse is coming to the rescue. I don’t think Tiffany is being tortured as some say, rather I think she is learning to face life on life’s terms, with a little help. If that is torture, well join the club. One thing too: she did a good job in getting so much money for used furniture. I think that is a really good return, and think about it, dad probably paid for it anyway. She is learning.
There are a lot of things Nature provides and it’s good people make use of them. However I would not partake of some of those things, such as panda poo tea, unless I were in a survival situation. Thankfully I’m just too lazy to ever find myself in one.
Well she could have done better. But since she was on a timeline and had to move quickly I’d say she did ok. But what will she do moving forward? PS if she drinks enough of that tea and eats only those crisps she’s sure to lose the rest of that extra weight. Just kidding y’all. I know that’s not healthy etc.
The Untold Story of Ann Eiffel and Tom Farrell, Part 4
In due course Tommy Farrell prepped at Deerfield. A year later Natalie was enrolled at Miss Porter’s. Though Deerfield, Massachusetts was not that far from Farmington, Connecticut, the two did not see each other much except when Natalie’s Grandmother had them down to Chappaqua for long weekends. That changed however when Tommy matriculated at Dartmouth and arrived in Hanover behind the wheel of a new Shelby roadster.
I am liking this sensible approach that Tiffany is taking. I think the amount of cash she received from the junk dealer is fair and appropriate too.
Could this really be a turn-around story for Tiffany?!? Or is it a red herring…. and…… BAM…. soon there will be some other devastation befall her?
It sounds like she (according to Bernice) has a double occupancy room lined up….. so that will be interesting to meet her room mate. Even though it would be fun to have her room with Dez and Bernice…… she will actually be doing this in the short term….. I think there will be many more story opportunities with a new room mate…. ESPECIALLY if it is a new character.
Tiff should’ve created a partnership with Cheap Ed. He wants to increase the value of his sales and she needs money. She’ll help him appraise stuff and he can put it on consignment. They split the money.
One arc I don’t want to see: Tiff puts her $3,700 on a table and goes into the bathroom to put on makeup. The door to the hallway is open and we see Tara walking by and looking in…
deep fried insects… bleah… I consider myself as one who would eat just about anything (especially in the plant kingdom) but I would have tough time w/ insects. Now, if they were ground into a flour or meal and mixed into cracker dough then I wouldn’t know and would likely be OK with it.
I’ve been offline since the 1st; power supply on my pooter shorted out, and it took awhile before I could get a new one installed. So I backtracked to all the Luanns I missed! Only to do it again: Wednesday I’m flying to Atlanta to see my kids and grandkids. Maybe someday I can afford to move there…

Okay.
So Tiffany now has a big wad of dough.
I would very STRONGLY suggest that she:1) Go ahead and pay for her part in that new shared dorm room.

People who have More Money Than Brains will buy Anything and swear they enjoy it if it costs enough.
For instance, Panda Poo Tea: $35,000 per pound.
Makes that Cat Poo Coffee seem downright Cheap at only $300 per Pound.
