Oh boy. They as well go home and do what they really want to do. No need to put on a show which is all on Bets. Gunther is just sitting there with a goofy grin. Bernice, you might want to poke around her backpack while she is distracted. She might have her phone pointed at her and Gunther and is posing for her fans.

Maybe she should stop being coy and passive-aggressive, and just say what she means.

What I said about yesterday’s comic, about being ready for Bernice to be written out of the strip?

I went to college over 40 years ago, and PDAs weren’t forbidden in dorm gatherings then. Nor were unauthorized gatherings in students’ rooms. If they found out we were smoking weed or doing other illegal drugs it would have been a problem (the drinking age was 18 then so that was legal.)

I can’t believe what Bernice is doing is normal or expected by a non-religious college or university in 2020. Maybe it was in Greg’s day, ad I think he’s about 5 or so years older than me. This is ridiculous, and if this is some misguided attempt to set an example for preteens or teenagers, I don’t even think that many of them read this strip.

If this wasn’t a mainstream strip, I’m sure they would have made better use for the table. ;)

It’d be amazing if this all ends with Bern being so distracted trying to break up Bets and Gunther’s extremely mild PDA that she fails to notice any of whatever’s happening at The Blackout and gets chewed out for not putting a stop to it.

I think it’s time Bernice had a love interest. Bernice with a boyfriend could have all sorts of possibilities for story writing. She’s been the policeman for way too long.

I’m not sure why it bothers her so much unless it reminds her she doesn’t have a romantic partner.

I remember when Bernice was on a bowling date with Luann, Jack and the artist guy. Bernice was very intent on making certain Luann and Jack didn’t hook up. I don’t think Bernice is jealous because she wants Gunther. I think she is jealous that her friends are capable of mature relationships and she can not. Or is unwilling to try. Bernice is only happy when she can control everything.

It would be one thing if Bernice acted this way because she really cared about the importance of studying. Unfortunately, we’ve seen enough of her character to know her actions stem from a desire to feel superior to others and to control them. She’s definitely envious of Bets and Gun’s relationship, since she doesn’t have one.

Bernice needs to get on with it, and let Bets and Gun get on with it…

All I want is to see tomorrow and Saturday to see how this particular arc ends. It is clear that Bernie is uncomfortable with the relationship of Bets and Gunther, and we know that she wanted to know if they were doing “it” as much as her BFF Luann. Plus is Tiffany coming? If she was there I think she would have been introduced already, but I think this is all Guns & Bets and Bernice’s uncomfortable, unable to control reaction to them.

The naïveté of this scene is a JOKE. No way could I imagine a 20 year old women in college behaving like Bernice

The basic theme of this week’s strip is turning out to be a) Gun (ugh!) and Bets are still joined at the hip, which we already knew, b) Bernice is rigid control freak, which we already knew, or c) whether through jealousy or discipline, Bernice cannot conduct a Study Ball successfully, which we already suspected.

The lack of any other characters with recent “issues” (i.e., Luann and Tiffany) makes this out to be a “give it a rest” sequence or some kind of “pacing” for whatever comes next. The Les and Punk sequence probably was the same.

So unless there’s a surprise, probably on Saturday, we can all just sit back, relax, and disparage Bernice, as seems to be happening. :o)

So gather your belongings head to Kip’s. And don’t forget to thank your ANNOYING “host” for a truly Dreadful, Fun-Less time at “Study Ball.”

Oh and Bets? Be Sure do douse Bernice with a bucket of water on the way out.

And Gunther? Make SURE You grab Bernice’s charred broomstick to show to Kip as proof that the Witch has been “liquidated.”

In the broad scheme of things in Pittsville, it looks like Gunther has all the power right now. The G-man, not “Gun” (ugh!), is currently being used, with Bets, to 1) change his image from “nerd/looser” to “real catch” and 2) his relationship with Bets as a basis for more story lines. One story line is on his own relationship and the question of how long he will put up with Bets invasion of privacy. Another line(s) is how his relationship with Bets is affecting other primary characters.

OK! A “Bundling Board” for the table. A 9′ × 2″ × 4″ should work.

Bernice continues to try to bail out Lake Michigan with a teaspoon.

Give it up, Bern, if you push any farther they’ll just go get a room somewhere.

Bernice should join ROTC and then go into the military she seems well suited for a regimented life.

Hey, Bernice! You’re awfully consumed with other people’s romantic lives. Often times, people like you are told they need to get… a hobby.

Those who can, do. Those who can’t will sometimes do their best to alleviate their own frustrations by attempting to circumvent the attempts of those who can.

I’m a little bit surprised that Bets dosen’t have her phone out yet, taking selfies of herself and Gunther on the couch. Yes, I know they’re at a “Study Ball” and all that. But it hasn’t stopped her before, has it?

She seems to be unnecessarily worried about them.

Bets and Gunther are both good students. If they wanted to study they could have done it at either one’s home. Bets wanted to be seen in public with her man. Things don’t count to Bets unless other people see them. She is shallow and insecure.

What if they DID lay out?

You can’t win if you try to fight young love (and/or sex), Bernice.

Come on. Bets is studying for her MRS.

Just let it go Bernice. Worse thing that happens, you ended up creating a make-out party.

I think Bernice is trying to be the dutiful RA, fostering good learning habits among her charges. Although Gunther doesn’t live in the dorm… so he’s there as a guest of Bets I’m guessing. And yeah, if you are trying to create a study atmosphere and you have a couple more interested in studying each other’s anatomy than whatever class subject they should be, it can be a little distracting. We are sensual beings. We get drawn in by it. Kind of like “moths to a flame”. From the couple’s standpoint though, I am guessing Bernice appears to be a busy body or noodge.

For me it doesn’t matter the reason Bernice personally wants to breakup the lovebirds. Their behavior is distracting, inappropriate and disrespectful.

I know some people are grooving on this, but I find it mildly nauseating. Jeez, guys, get a room or something. I’m sad to see Gunther, who has always been so level-headed, start to use another portion of his anatomy to think with. I would tell him to rise to the occasion, but I think he’s already done that.

Be thankful they’re not living in the era our grandparents were in. Those two would’ve been lynched by now (or at least one of them).

Is Bernice doing this to anyone else at the study ball? Is there anyone else at the study ball? Is Bernice isn’t behaving like a chaperone at Liberty University to all students, regardless of gender coupling. She needs to chill.

Gunther is showboating in front of Bernice by ignoring Bernice’s attempts to make everyone in the room confirm to her desired outcome. My clue, Gunther is smiling for 2 reasons: (1) PDA and (2) I am not longer a Dweeb.

hard to tell where this is going except it’s about Bernice’s discomfort with physicality in a relationship. She needs someone to sweep her off her feet; maybe she should analyze herself.
