Wow! The let’s-put-down-Luann movement within the Luannaverse continues on Sunday. What’s GnK up to?

Seems odd for Nancy to be so shallow. I don’t think Frank meant gossip when he asked her how was work.

New glasses??? Well, there’s no way Mom’s gonna top that!

Dishing dirt to the dishwasher?

At first glance, I thought “With all this gossip, is there any real WORK being done at the Fuse?” The answer is “Yes, there is.” Nancy is interacting quite well with customers, many of whom appear to be old friends. That means tons of repeat business. It clear. Nancy SHOULD have been working at the Fuse on day one. Now, if she’ll just hire Bernice as an employee, things will get REALLY interesting.Especially if Jack shows up. Speaking of hiring, what are the chances a handsome male waiter will be hired in the not too distant future? Maybe one that sings to the customers as “entertainment.” All kinds of things could happen. I still miss Pru, though.

Oh. With the apparent level of “socializing” going on at the Fuse, not to mention the dog park last week, so much for incorporating that aspect of the current pandemic into the Strip. ;)

Ha! Nancy’s gossip is way juicier than Luann’s

Why does luann look like she’s responding to nancy’s gossip like a robot?

I find myself missing the messy room jokes.

So what we learned this week? One is that Bernice believes she has outgrown Luann and wants to trade her for a pet or maybe a boyfriend. We learn that without even knowing where they were going or what they were doing Bernice filled a backpack with a half-dozen or more text books “in case she got bored.” We see her reading the moment they got to the park indicating that Bernice had no intention of talking to Luann or participating in whatever fun thing Luann had in mind. We’ve learned that the smart, charming Luann of the Quill years has been replaced by a zombie puppet that dances to the tune of the Luann-hater-in-chief (AKA Karen) She was made to do things that even Shannon would not do. We learn that Jack shows up at dog parks without a dog, apparently in hopes of picking up women. We also learn that he’s grown tired of Luann and hopes to also trade her in for a new pet or girlfriend.

What does this presage for next week? A smart writer would switch to another plot so it doesn’t seem like Bernice rushed over to the shelter to pick up Jack. Since there has been no evidence that a smart writer is writing this strip there will be another week of Bernice ignoring Luann, and then the week after that, still more stuff about Bernice snubbing Luann. Maybe it’s time for Bets and whoever to go to another costume convention. I hope it’s Star Wars once because Bets in that metal bikini would be a sight to behold.

The neighbor who knows everybody’s business was among the first to discover how COVID-19 feels. I’m still waiting for my turn.

I won’t use the word “genius” — that’s someone like Norman Einstein, as a famous football player once said — but it’s a tribute to Greg Evans’ excellence that we’re talking about his characters as if they were real. Greg, I know you must be reading these comments. Even if you choose not to respond, know that you have faithful readers who look forward to whatever direction(s) your narrative(s) take(s).

OK can I Just ask – Why doesn’t he just retire? Luanne is obviously not a character he likes anymore. He just keeps making her more and more stupid and lacking. I think I am going to stop reading this because what used to be amusing and sometimes inspiring to me is now just sad.

When did someone named John Smith actually do something?

Hopefully, Luann is holding a textbook and using her laptop in panel #1 to complete her studies. Needs to finish Pitts College, find a job that will pay for her to move out and flourish like her brother, Bradley Degroot.

Poor Luann. She lost the title of Gossip Queen at her home. With the huge difference that when is her mother to tells them, this is no longer gossip, but useful information about old friends. Nancy is relly fine wearing the K2 bartender suit♡.

What? Is… is this how a woman of Luann’s age would react? When I was a teenager I remember my parents ‘gossiping’ and didn’t know who they were talking about so ignored them.

Someone hasn’t grown up

It looks like Luann is making a desperate ploy for attention.

Luann is not the best one to go for gossip or current events.

They have Luann dazed and blurting out stuff like she has Tourette’s syndrome. Why is she interrupting their conversation? Nobody asked her what news she’s heard lately. They have her acting so weird these days it’s almost getting entertaining, or sad if she has a brain aneurysm. In the real world people would be concerned about this drastic change in behavior but its a comic strip so we’ll just see where it’s all going..

In the words of old detective Charlie Chan, “Confucius say: when artist finds himself locked in a corner, it would be advisable to draw an exit sign and door.”

Nancy knows best. Being so patently jealous of your Mom does not look good on you, Luann….

The Fuse must be a swinging place if Nancy gets that much bar talk in one night. Beats h3ll out of Luann’s fave “social media.”

This statement feels like a statement on the value of face-to-face communication vis-à-vis the new social media. Life events vs, trivia.

This reminds me of one of my great-aunts.

And once more we’re shown that Luann is immature and foolish.

Never underestimate the ability of two women to out gossip one another.

Frank probably has no idea who any of these people are. Nor does he care.

Luann is the Lucy Ricardo, Charlie Brown, Wiley Coyote character in this strip. Nothing ever goes right for Lu.

This really backs up my statement last week that despite her best efforts Luann is actually a pretty boring person. This is hot gossip to her? New glasses and a camping trip? Not to mention that her attempts to one-up Nancy are something a six-year-old would do.

Greg and Karen really seem to dislike their main character lately.

Late comment from Luannfan1212. My first thought when I saw the Sunday panel was that again Luann seems to be in a negative position relative to the other major characters in her life in Luannverse, toward what end I have no idea. At times like these I will just wait and see.

Monday: Bernice visits the animal shelter and has her heart stolen. But by whom??!!!

My niece, during a Thanksgiving gathering, got onto one of her younger cousin’s plastic vehicle toys, pushed herself around the kitchen, and announced what a cute little child she was. Yeah, now my niece is like a year younger than Luann and no longer feels like need to one-up anyone in her family, not even her parents. How strange that the dialogue in “Luann” constantly fails to pass the Turing test, and how strange that the writers want to depict their main character as kind of an idiot. Not that any of the other characters are relatable. That’s what keeps me coming back, yo, it’s fascinating! Anyway, look how many people these guys know! Maybe the readers should see them? Naaahh…
