If you connect the dots on Bernice’s dress in order, it makes a picture of Jack exercising in a polka-dotted leotard.

It’s probably a setup for Bernice to fall for.

It is the Ghost of Christmas Present, and he gave Luann her present last night.

Bernice apparently isn’t the only one who talks in her sleep.

We’re not really going to pretend there’s any “adult fun” going on, are we? I’m calling it now: it’s just a Wacky Misunderstanding™ that in no way involves sexuality or anything that this strip’s reader base would ever find objectionable for a teenager to be doing. I mean I’d be glad to be proven wrong, but based on the Evans’s track record I’m fairly confident in my prediction.

Frankly, since We’ve had rug yanked out from Us far too many times lately by G&K, I ain’t buying that it’s some guy sneaking out of Luann’s window. Namely some guy We don’t Know, Jack or even Quill. Although if it’s Quill, Kauri will be ecstatic.

Nope. The power has been out. Therefore the clocks are now wrong. And Luann just woke up in the middle of an erotic dream. Either that or she’s putting a doggie coat on Puddles before letting him out.

On the other hand, the last time Luann was involved with bedroom windows, she was sneaking out of Gunther’s bedroom window at the Gulag.

One of two, either she is a very light sleeper or those walls are too thin!

It would be a dirty trick for GnK to pretend tomorrow that these voices did not come from Luann’s room. Second and third bedrooms (almost) never abut the Master Bedroom. So it’s unreasonable to think that these voices are Frank and Nancy’s.

“Here’s your coat.” So coat was removed.

“Go*back out* the window.” So someone is there that came in through the window.

“We don’t want to wake up Bernice.” Either they didn’t want to disturb Bernice’s beauty rest or that they did not want to alert her through awakening to what was going on in Luann’s room.

There is no indication that Luann did not retire at the same time as the rest of the family.

Presuming Luann is one person the the bedroom who else may be there? The only males in the Lu/Bern DeGroot story arc are Jack and Ben. One could speculate Brad or Frank but why the window exit for those two.

I’ll be watching GnK to see if they pull some off the wall explanation.

Luann and Quill never made it to New York City for Spring Break. I wonder how it would have been handled.

Who was it? BJ or Tyge? Who said G&K love to have it “both ways.”

That they can constantly tease us that hanky panky is going on.

Perhaps the raciest scene we had was Luann in Gunther’s room – the only other time a window escape was in order.

I would guess Brad and Toni slept over because Shannon messed up their house during the night. Luann slept on the couch, and Toni is leaving for her shift. Either that or Gunther is a double dipper, naw, definitely not that.

I’ll go out on a limb and predict Bernice peeking through the blinds in 3…2…

Pretty sure it’s simply a case of Luann having her own racy dream. The question is who the guy would be since she hasn’t really shown an interest in anybody recently.

Pru had to leave New York, for some reason, and has no money, for some reason, and could not let Frank and Nancy know, for some reason.

My guess is |Tara from the community college. Makes more sense than Jack, Nil, Quill or other characters Luann knows. Tara probably got in through the window for some comical reason or simply needed to finish a term paper for Zebo’s class and she needed Luann’s laptop because of the power outage, or she lost her apartment key and was in the neighborhood, or they are doing some sort of crazy art project where they have to get up before dawn etc…… Could be wrong, maybe G&K crush Bernice’s dreams of Jack but I doubt it…..

Bernice = pranked?

Occam’s Razor might apply here; the simplest explanation is logically the most likely. Could be someone who spent the night in Luann’s room, whom she doesn’t want anyone knowing, particularly Bernice, raising the question, who is it? I have some ideas but will wait to see what the arc brings to se if what is implied is the right path.

Time for a prolonged misunderstanding!

The whole set up SOUNDS “interesting.” But given Greg’s policy, I’d be flabbergasted if the innuendo of what Bernice is hearing came even close.

the bump against the wall was (maybe) on purpose to make sure Bernice was awake.

No matter what the Evanses would like us to believe I don’t think it is a man in Luann’s room. A girl then. It is someone who came to sleep (and just sleep), entered through the window and is leaving through the window, so not an official guest. I would go for Tara. She has been in enough troubles before to be credible as having no place to stay and Luann not wanting to try and ask her parents to house her. Dez has a room, Tiff a house, Delta is gone and if she were back would have come to say hi to Bernice. Pru has been staying long enough at the Degroot’s house that if she were in town and needed accommodation she could just ask officially and be offered the sofa. It’s not gonna be Ann Eiffel, and Bets could stay with Gunther, but she has her own place anyway.

So my bet is on Tara.

My guess is that it’s Jack, dropping off some surprise or other for Bernice with Luann conniving in the Jernice shipping.

And if so, my follow up guess is that this will lead to a Three’s Company Misunderstanding®, in which Bernice will become unnecessarily jealous of the nonexistent Juann ship.

I so hope that second part is wrong.

Is Bernice a TA again? Or has Toot’s moved in with LuAnn too?

Bluntly speaking, it was far easier for the author to write about adventures in High School and the first year or so in college before adulthood hopefully starts to take hold.

Now Frank and Nancy would seem to be more modern minded, especially with Brad and Toni going at it before marriage and moving in together. Why would they treat Luann any differently post turning 18? It seems silly Luann is “sneaking” someone in and out of her room in the middle of the night without all the signs of the window screen and trampled bushes outside her window. Somewhat a farce.

Going back to my original thought, the author needs to really sit down and plot out for the next year all the plot lines and get his house in order instead of the obvious random and meandering story lines post the great Tiffany / Ann / Tom plot line. It’s starting to get tiresome.

I’m sure it’s Luann setting an early alarm to break Puddles (either because her day starts early or Puddles is getting older and can’t hold it in for hours and hours), putting his coat on because it’s cold, and putting him on a long lead so she can lift him out the window to do his business without her having to get dressed & go outside.

It’s too late for that!

I read most of the comments and none of them give a good explanation of what Bernice heard. Luann is not the type to prank someone like this – - that is too mean. Luann says “Ugh, time for you to go already?”She is sad they have to leave. I don’t believe that she would have a man in bed at night while her parents are home.

It’s an early morning call for Puddles to take care of his business! Why would Luann set the alarm clock and risk the probability of Frank and Nancy hearing the beep sound?

Well, well, well….what sort of shenanigans are going on in Luann’s room?

Anyone else somewhat creeped out by Bernice’s beady little eyes? Not totally creeped out, just a smidge?

No real idea of what is going on… but the suggestion of course is that someone is in Luann’s room… perhaps…. a “boyfriend”.

But, the most likely reality for the story is that there is some sort of misunderstanding. But of what nature?

a) IF this arc is still continuing the power outage … then I am going to suggest that it is most likely Brad…. who has come over (while forgetting his key) in the middle of the night to collect something that he needs. Instead of waking up the whole household, he… like a lot of brothers would do…. presumes he would have less impact and problems crawling in through his sister’s window…. and it follows in the tradition of acts by annoying brothers over the generations.

b) IF this arc is NOT continuing the power outage … then I suggest that Luann is Skyping with someone on-line on her computer and she is either helping or guiding that person to get into/out of THEIR house through a window. I guess this scenario could also be possible even in the power outage if Luann’s conversation is occurring over their phones by video chat or FaceTime or some such thing.

That said…. IF by some very unlikely flight of fancy Greg has decided to have Luann have some sort of “boyfriend” material enter and escape through her window…. I think Greg has probably set-up one of the most surprising (jarring) segues for such an event ever. I doubt he would make such an ABRUPT change….. it would occur more gradually.

My, my. This could be interesting, as long as Bernie’s part is kept in the background and to a minimum. Unfortunately, it is more often her inclination to overplay her rôle and try to steal the scene….

Can’t be the TV is on and the dialogue is coming from that because Bernice is named. Jack would be interesting. Maybe he was out running but couldn’t get home with the power out and was closest to Luann’s.

As long as that’s not Aaron Hill, I’m good.
