And Nancy is still considered a hottie by some “very nice, charming, dreamy” man she met in some bar!

At some point that dichotomy will sink into Frank’s awareness! 8^ )

Wait a minute … Luann is 36 years old by our time frame (March 17, 1985). Ignoring the Luannverse calculation of time passing, and noting that as the strip began, Luann was just shy of her teen years, she should have seen Frank 35 years ago.

Weird family. Luann? Your dad is NOT a hottie. He is a nerd who has a hottie wife. Your mom ages well and your dad doesn’t. Your mom is still vivacious enough to attract men and she is enjoying the attention, but you KNOW she still loves your dad. She just wants his attention – the kind he gave 20 years ago. This ails many older marriages where the young marriage transitioned the focus to the children for the next 20-25 years. Now your brother is married and you are in college. Now your parents are trying to find their way back to each other again. At least, your mom is.

In short, Daddy WAS a hottie. He lost his hotness. He’s after-hot. Minimum hot. Lukewarm hot.

The logic isn’t very sound. Very Rich old guys attract “hotties” as well. Does that make them hotties? Nope! How old is Frank supposed to be? 50?? Was he only hot when he was 15? Was he a dud by 25? Yikes!

‘35 years ago’? Did his missus say 35? Why then that makes Frank to b 50..ish n Nancy too..What’s really really odd is that 1. none of their scions are in their thirties, n2. Frank n Nance sure took a long time to get to the act of procreating.

So Frank is 60? That’s giving him from birth to 25 to look decent enough to attract a wife, and then after that he went downhill. Must have been disappointing for Nancy, who would naturally hope his looks might last into his 40’s. Most men age far better than women.

Today, Luann said exactly the right thing. ;-) She’s sometimes a flake and sometimes oblivious and sometimes tries way too hard — but sometimes she gets it exactly right.

so are we not going to see this dreamy guy because the arc is more about Frank and Nancy (not Nancy and the dreamy guy)? It would be nice if he made an appearance (sometime). If Nancy is human she will not come down off her cloud that quickly.

35 years ago? I always thought Frank was maybe 50 in the current Luannverse which would have made him 15 . But judging from Nancys smarmy remark Frank has gotta be like 55 or 56 which would have made him 20 or 21 which is more believable than a 15yo being a hottie.Course you can have your 20yo Frank. Ill take the current version. Mature Frank imo is a hottie . Luann and Nancy lose points bigtime for both being smarmy twits.

Seems like this is going to be a light, one-week arc to give Tiffany time to prepare an elegant dinner, and Gunther to sew a couple of pirate outfits.

My condolences to all of you who thought Nancy was devastated and upset with Frank, and thought he should sleep on the couch, or that she should leave him, once and for all. It seems that she was not the least upset with him, and he seems to have gotten over all the ‘drama’.

Nice save, Luann. I get the horror of the afterthought, but you helped your dad feel better and save his pride.

Remember, “Opposites” attract, but “Likes” stay married! My wife and I have a number of similarities, but our backgrounds could hardly be more different. We’ve worked through differences, and will continue to do so. This keeps bringing us back the the happy place where we are working together. (30+ years, so far)

By the way, it seems to me that it was revealed a while back that Frank is quite a bit older than Nancy. She’s probably no more than about 45, but Frank could easily be well into his mid 50’s. I also think that Nancy is (and this may be my age showing) more attractive than any of the 20-something year old females in this strip (Toni is clearly older than Luann’s peers but even she is a bit young for my taste).

So, did Tara just stay the night once and leave town? Did she take over her cousin’s house? Is she still living at the Degroots’? For a plotline that was supposedly so important it sure got forgotten pretty quickly. Homelessness is a situation that kinda demands a bit of closure, and “you can stay here for the night” is not it.

Nancy is exaggerating the time. Moving on.

As a male, in a room full of divorced cougars, I get invited to lunch frequently.

My kids have the same reaction when we mention how hot we were ‘back then’. And we still think so after all these years. Good role model for a long marriage, I say!
