Legit crying because… Well, that’s not how I’ve been thinking about my fellow humans lately. Mostly I’ve been feeling like everyone sucks, we’re all just dumb, selfish monsters and we’re spiraling toward an ugly doom.
Leave it to Puck to melt my cold, Grinchian heart.
I’ve been fully vaccinated for about a month now. Based on previous experience with flu shots and warnings for pandemic shots, I was not surprised to have the side effects. But I’ll take two days of enforced sitting on the couch with my cat over the alternative! Between my mother being high risk and knowing at least two people who can’t be vaccinated for different reasons, I’m not about to let that dang virus use me as a mutation vector.
Finally got my shots scheduled for June and September. Surprised that the second jab is going to be seventeen weeks after the first, but the new guidelines are at least fourteen weeks between shots. Here’s hoping all be well and I can travel to the U.S. to visit family for Thanksgiving this year.♥
Awesome strip this morning. I hope everyone has gotten their shots already or are going to soon. Here in Florida it is now open to everyone 12 or older with the kids aged 12-17 able to get the Pfizer vaccine, although this is not available at all sites so parents need to check around when they make their appointments. Over in Lakeland Novavax trials are underway for the 12 -17 group as well so hopefully that will be approved soon as well so everyone can get the opportunity to be vaccinated:
The storage for the Pfizer vaccine means the locations are limited. Some have had to travel 50 or 60 miles. My parents, both over 70 had to travel 20 miles for the first dose and 14 for the second. They have a car. I do not. But that’s OK. The Oxford Astrozenica one is given by the General Practitioners at their surgeries. I live just across the road from mine.
Awwww, “kitty katz”!!!! My favorite song, by my favorite Davy Jones, in my adolescent-dreams band, “The Monkees”! It can still make me want to cry…even if I have gotten that dream…45 years, come this 10/16…& past the " without a penny, one to spend"…Thank you!
Yeah, after feeding cats, cleaning their litter boxes, bringing them to the vet, allowing them to cuddle us, and so on, they still find time to do the right thing for each other.
Today, I’m washing a load or three of work clothing that’s been hanging in the closet for all this time. Next month, I will be facing the world again … and I can’t say I’m ready.
Bragging on my state.. here in Vermont 75% of everyone over 12 years of age has had at least one shot, which means 65% of all Vermonters have had at least one. (We are an old aging state.) Anything to make our pets proud.
Got my second shot a month ago, and Husband got his second one two weeks before I did. We’re both good to go. And we both always wear masks when we leave home.
It does shame me to discover, though, that with the new mask protocol, I still am suspicious of those I see going around unmasked. Are they really vaccinated? Or are they just using the regs as a disguise for their anti-mask “freedom”? Didn’t realize I was such a nasty untrusting person. Gotta try harder to be better.
They are doing it for you, Puck, Elvis, Lupin, Goldie, don’t tell the little one, but cats have been known to catch the sickness. So they got these shots to keep you, themselves and their young ones safe.
What is happening in other parts of the world is a different story. like People from one country not really caring about what is happening to People in an other country, But that is a human thing beyond the experience of felines.
Sigh. I wish it was so. This just makes me think of all the willfully ignorant, stupid, self-centered, obliviots who won’t wear masks, social distance, or get vaccinated.
Sadly, this whole “got my shots” club thing is another one of those things that may seem cool to you, now but, years from now, people will be laughing at you and you’ll look like a fool for doing it.
Now if we could just get the roughly 30% of Americans who think they know better than ALLLLLL the scientists and doctors to take the shot, we’d be in great shape!
I got both shots some time ago but had passed up an even earlier opportunity because at the time I was self-isolating as the result of something else – nothing super bad, just worked out that it was a smart thing to do. I always wear a mask & keep a respectable distance (and that is an important qualifying word). And I’ll continue to do so for quite a while. Why? Because I’m not dumb enough to assume I can trust a large portion of the population to even be honest about whether they actually did get vaccinated or not. I’d rather not be part of the reason that I’m almost certain there will be a large spike in the next few weeks. People are dangerous animals.

Another proud member of the vaccinated…..of course I’m more vulnerable because of my age but it helps to be able to do my part to stop the spread.

I often do not understand the facial markings that Georgia uses. Like the sideways 3 on Puck in panel 3 – Is that a nose thing, or a mouth thing?

The Monkees: Daydream Believer
Oh, sometimes it may seem
That our hope is just a dream
So much for small kitties to take in
But then we see it’s right there,
All the people really care,
And we’ll come through fine, above the din!
…….
Cheer up, little Bea
And soon you will see,
Your friends and people
Will be fine as can be!
…….
In the night we weep
When the dark won’t let us
But through the night our hope we still employ,
And the darkness will not stay,
For there dawns a brand new day,
In the morning comes the time of joy!
…….
Cheer up, little Bea
And soon you will see,
Your friends and people
Will be fine as can be!
…….
Cheer up, little Bea
And soon you will see,
Your friends and people
Will be fine as can be!
