You know, it’s hard to feel sympathetic towards Gunther when he won’t listen to his own best advice.
Last week he was very clear to Tiffany that her idea of tricking Bets to come into her house where Gunther would be hiding was a bad idea. It was a bad idea and yet here we are. Has Gunther ever learned the meaning of “no?
Today is Proof that Bets has been ignoring Gunther’s calls and texts and NOBODY else’s.
That should be the FINAL straw that broke the camel’s back. UNFORTUNATELY, it won’t be.
Tiffany’s idea might not be so stupid after all, PROVIDED Gunther stays hidden in Tiffany’s mansion (if he’s there) and listens intently.
He might get an earful.
It’s a long-shot but Bets might give Tiff a reason why she cut off all contact with Gunther. Bets might even tell the awful truth about her relationship with Gunther. Maybe that his sole function in this so-called “relationship” was tailor and movie prop.
I think We’re going to get some truth this week.
That truth painful as it may be, might set Gunther free.
And this time around it may be Bets getting the Farrell mansion door slammed in her face.
Three weeks have already gone by and Bets is still pissed about the “restaurant” experience? Gunther, you’re not missing a thing. You really are better off without that control freak.
I don’t know about anybody else, but if I found myself tricked into a situation where I was confronted by someone I had been deliberately avoiding …. It would probably not end up flinging myself into that person’s arms.
Well this seems a little contrived. First Bets shows up at a place that doomed super-hyped relationship with Gun! Considering her out of control behavior at the TTFT and Weenie World, she seems uncharacteristically reserved, if not calm. This while confronting her new “nemesis.” There is a struggle for power in these two females. A tug of war.
Why (How?) did Bets accept Tiff’s invite is she was incognito? We presume Gunther in inside, cowering. Man Up, Gun! Bets gives no indication that this row is about anything other than a personal insult to her and monetary damage. Not a very redeeming presentation for social media doyen and cosplay superstar! Gman, it’s been quite a ride but your a masochist if you stay.
Yep. That’s our Bets. She is unreasonable and difficult and demanding. Now, is Gunther inside? Or is Tiff alone wanting to have a girl talk? Guess we will find out tomorrow or the day after.
Uh, she invited Bets to come in. That IS welcoming! What the heck does she want, to stand on the doorstep until Tiffany brings a check? Just come in and see your doofus ex-boyfriend and get this over with. That’s going to be a silly conversation; I can’t wait!
Tiffany, Bets is a lot smarter than you think. She apparently knows you didn’t invite her there to give an apology and refund. She knows you have an ulterior motive, that’s why she wants the $$$ and the “i’m sorry” first. Then she has no reason TO come in.Tiff, you need to accept what gunther already has; if bets wants to talk to him, she’ll do it on her terms.
It’s good to see Bets again. I’m glad the story has moved right on to the apology phase. Whether this leads to a reconciliation between Bets and Gun is still up in the air.
And it looks like I am going to be the first to praise Tiffany for offering to make an apology.
Stick to your guns Bets! She looks fed up with Tiffany’s bs and I don’t blame her. When she sees Gunther is part of this childish plot she’ll be done with him too.
I’m actually quite shocked that Bets hasn’t already demanded a refund. She doesn’t seem the type to let it slide…wasn’t there a great deal of discussion (among the readers) at the time of the dinner as to whether or not Bets had actually paid in advance? Because she certainly stormed out without paying.
I guess I will address the “weeks” thing. In the TV show Spartacus, the titular character and his best friend, Varro, are captives inside a training camp for gladiators. Varro’s wife Aurelia comes for a visit and he says something that angers her. She leaves and doesn’t answer respond to his messages for some period of time. Spartacus tells him “Our women punish us for our stupidity”. Eventually she comes back to him, and even becomes a worker inside the facility. Because she loves her man.
I’m not here to defend or castigate Bets for not speaking to Gunther. Just saying that there are different ways to interpret her actions.
Bets… always so beautiful and proud ♡. I know, she can be: annoying, bossy, jealous. But I’m so happy to see her again. Will they start fighting until Gunther comes out to get them to stop or will Tiffany makes her (forced) apologies to Bets for Gunther’s sake? I hope for the second, but the first is also a rather interesting possibility.
Bets is not the victim here! She has come of her own selfish greed. She was never a friend to Tiffany and no boyfriend to Gunther to begin with. She should apologize to both Tiff and Gunther and make her shallow way out of there to live her fake self righteous life elsewhere. How nasty can Bets be? Tiffany is more of a caring friend to Gunther than Bets. No relationship romantic or just friends can survive the inconsiderate cruel emotional unavailability Bets dishes out. When will Gunther learn his emotions mean nothing more than a headliner to broken psycho attention- hound Bets!
I’m thinking this is the redemption tour of Bets. G and K can’t have their only person of color continue to be unlikable, it’s just not PC in this era. Maybe we’ll finally get her back story.
Looking like the Good, the Bad, and the Indifferent right now (cue music from Sergio Leone classic movie). The Good, Gunther isn’t in sight but like Clint Eastwood I’m sure he’ll pop thru a door at the right moment. The Bad (or so it appears), Bets is making it seem it’s all about herself and money;could Eli Wallach do this role any better? The Indifferent Tiffany has done the good thing to lure Bets over but is going sideways about the apology right now. Will she make the sacrifice and give the apology (which it appears she already gave on the phone to Bets) verbally? Is there a grave labelled Unknown for one of them….
Ugh, Bets again. This absolutely insufferable character should never have happened, or at least the red flag relationship should NOT have dragged on this long.
Bets isn’t obligated to come into Tiffany’s house. She came to get what was promised – a refund and an apology, not more of Tiffany’s BS. Obviously Gunther caved and is waiting inside. If I were Bets I would set about burning that bridge to the ground. There is nothing worse than knowing you’re being manipulated, and having it done by Gunther is adding insult to injury. Did she not explicitly tell him that their relationship had to be private? Yes, she did. The constant interference from his many female friends is not what she wants in a boyfriend and this little plot should be the last straw. This is getting boring and Gunther is a clingy whiny loser. But in the Luann world everyone has to kiss and make up so get on with it already. It’s too bad Bets is destined to be stuck with him.
a lot of posturing and defensiveness on display. Bets acts as if she’s coming to pick up a take-out order. She’s being suspicious and defensive and could at least go in and sit down. But Tiff could have picked some neutral ground to make amends like the school cafeteria or even a classroom. Instead she’s trying to put on another show and do it her own way which is what got her in trouble in the 1st place.
At the very least , we have verification that Bets did pay Tiffany (although that was not worth all the time arguing last week)I’m wondering if Tiffany talked Gunther into this scheme & he is waiting inside ORIs Tiffany acting rogue against Gunther’s wishes because she thinks she knows irrational women better? (BTW she does)Unless Bets gives us some explanation for her actions, I am thinking Gunther is better off without her.
Bets is not friends with Tiffany after the romantic dinner. Bets is combative today while Tiffany is trying to be nice. What happens after Bets is in the house and she sees Gunther? Will Bets try to escape? Will Tiffany and Gunther block the door so Bets can’t escape? Will they touch her body to restrain her? I wonder how far this will go.
I like Bets and hope she remains in the strip, as I have made known, but that said trying to be unbiased, not projecting is difficult, but this is my take: Bets is not going to make it easy for Tiffany to grow and apologize and refund, but I predict, hilarity will ensue and Tiff will, feeling better. Gunther is in the house, so that is the main event. This will be where Bets will need to show development. I so wanna be able to tell the Bets haters I told you so, but it’s up to Gnk here. Give Gun b break, give him his loving, if pushy (he needs it) back. There are a lot of Gun/Bets fans in the Luannverse world.
I hope Bets at least gives Gunther some answers about why she ran away and why she has ghosted him for weeks. He deserves that from her. Maybe Tiffany will help with the discussion, be a mediator between Bets and Gunther.
Is Gunther already hiding in the house, or will he show up in a few minutes and claim he didn’t know Bets was there? Tiffany needs to get Bets in the house first and calmed down a little.
Perhaps Gunther will finally learn that Bets is the worst possible woman for a girlfriend. She needs to be gone from the strip. Maybe she could make Aaron Hill’s life miserable.
This is just seems so out of character. If Bets wanted a refund, Bets would have already said she wanted one. Bets doesn’t appear to be passive about what she wants. So to have Bets just sit back for weeks for a refund seems so off. And while I do like Bets overall, I can’t stand her during this event. Bets has shown she isn’t a friend to anyone. A girlfriend just doesn’t ghost her boyfriend for weeks on end until you feel like talking. A friend doesn’t stand at the doorway demanding a refund or an apology before entering a house. That just means that you are petty and childish. Tiffany please, just please. Say you are absolutely right Bets, here is your refund and I am sorry. Then just close the door and let her leave. She wants to be alone and sour, let her. Neither you Tiffany or Gunther deserve any attitude like this from someone who is your “friend”.
Up to this point, I had been giving Bets a lot of “benefit of the doubt” in terms of her ditching Gunther following the “Love” comment. I was kind of presuming that she was feeling very insecure about the use of “love” in the relationship and that it caught her by surprise and she just did not know how to respond.
But, in this, the next time WE see Bets…. I am now thinking that the folks who have been quite negative about Bets may be exactly correct. She is here at Tiff’s and is trying to exert control over the situation instead of trying to work through this situation with Tiffany. Bets also does not seem to have much if any appearance of regret about what transpired between her and Gunther. Now, in reality since she is interacting with Tiffany, there may be no reason for her to show any feelings about the situation with Gunther here….. BUT to me, if she was actually at all flustered and hurt or unsure about what had transpired with Gunther…. she would not be acting so abrupt, and rather forcefully in whatever the situation was…. she would be more quiet and introspective.
So, today’s panels have me not really being fond of Bets (again, previously I had been hoping even with the ditching of Gunther, she was just unsure how to respond). Now it does appear to me that Bets just dumped Gunther, and appears to be moving on to whatever she next chooses…. without regard for Gunther… or anyone for that matter.
Bets is still mad at Tiffany about the dinner. That is why she is so rude to Tiffany today. I think Bets will be surprised If/When Gunther shows up. Bets think Gunther is still in the WW parking lot where she left him.
I hope Gunther isn’t inside. If he is, I hope he shows some of the same spine he showed when he told Luann off for trying to pry into his business. Unfortunately I doubt that will happen.
I for one am tired of seeing Gunther as the strip’s jellyfish/doormat, but that’s probably how G&K will have him act. If Bets wants an apology, she should see Gunther. He will undoubtedly crawl, and grovel, and apologize repeatedly, in between kissing her feet and begging her for another chance.
“Oh yes, Bets dear, I’m SO sorry you don’t have enough class to appreciate lovely dinner I provided for you and Gunther! Gunther seemed to like it just fine, but well”…….(Tiff laughs a little)….."So here’s your money, and, OH! I have a message from Gunther. He says don’t call him, he’ll call you———if he can find the time.
Door closes, and SCENE!
Maybe not hilarious, but I think it would be amusing at least.
I don’t think Bets is being rude at all. All she wants is her money and the apology that she was requested to come and receive. Just because somebody apologizes doesn’t necessarily mean everything goes back to how it was before. Maybe Bets has just decided not to be involved with Tiffany anymore. Maybe she just doesn’t feel like that have that much in common (besides Gunther). I don’t know why people are calling her rude for not wanting to go inside. Maybe she doesn’t want to see the contrived spectacle that Tiffany and Gunther have concocted. She just wants to get it over with and there’s no reason why Tiffany can’t hand her the money and say “I’m sorry” on the front porch. In fact, if Tiffany were really sorry she would have taken the money to Bets instead of making her come to the mansion, but that would spoil her little plot now wouldn’t it. She showed up, what more does she have to do to get her money back? Cartwheels on the lawn?

Close the door, Tiff. In fact, slam it.

Tiff’s apology to Bets:
“Oh yes, Bets dear, I’m SO sorry you don’t have enough class to appreciate lovely dinner I provided for you and Gunther! Gunther seemed to like it just fine, but well”…….(Tiff laughs a little)….."So here’s your money, and, OH! I have a message from Gunther. He says don’t call him, he’ll call you———if he can find the time.
Door closes, and SCENE!
Maybe not hilarious, but I think it would be amusing at least.

Yeah—-Not feeling it for Bets. I want to like her, but I just don’t. I think Gunther deserves a LOT better than Bets.

Without Gun, who is going to sew Bets cosplay costumes?

That should be “entrez,” but since it sounds exactly like “entrer” when spoken it’s probably not Tiffany’s fault.

I don’t see why you can’t accept an apology inside instead of on the porch.

Bets is a jerk. Imagine if she went to high school with the Luann crew.

I need someone to explain why they think Bets is wrong to demand a refund and an apology. No emotionalism, I request a fact-based response.

Bets is being pretty rude here, but that her usual mode.

I neither like nor trust Bets, she doesn’t deserve to have someone as nice as Gunther.

If somebody is going to apologize, they’re going to come to you to do it
