If you, as a 20-year-old in normal health, compare yourself to a woman in menopause just because you got horny one night (and didn’t simply get yourself off for some inexplicable reason) you have serious psychological problems and should probably see a sex therapist.
If we assume Brad is around 24, and Frank and Nancy waited a while to have children, she’s around 50. Looking very good as well. I guess that’s an average age for menopause. She sure should share some of that life wisdom with Bernice. She needs it.
Bernice has the hots for the two boys nil and jack. She wants one of them but is afraid she’ll hurt the other. Bernice, if you pick one. The other won’t get mad or jealous. He’ll congratulate the other and bow down gracefully.Just my thoughts
Seems a bit disrespectful for Bernice to be calling her Nancy instead of Mrs DeGroot but perhaps Nancy told her: “Just call me Nancy, we are all adults now”. Same thing goes for the crew at The Fuse, I can see them addressing her either way as well, depending on what she likes.
What a lucky combination! Nancy is probably the only one person Bernice could trust enough to confide about her inner conflict in being attracted to two guys. She probably trusts Nancy more than her own mother. Let’s hope Bernice will be able to gets over her awkwardness and talks with her, she’s desperately in need of advices!
Well they just keep progressing from boring nonsense to insulting stupidity in this incredibly stupid story line. First of all it is wrong for Bernice to be calling her Nancy. Mrs. Degroot, Mrs D…but not Nancy. Second they have created a three way sexual quandary that DOESN’T EXIST because JACK DOES NOT WANT TO DATE BERNICE. There is no suspense to it because there was no lead in and nothing to support it. Third, it is obnoxious to keep depicting Bernice as a girl who has a choice to make. There is no choice to make because Jack has never shown any interest in her. It would be different if both of the boys had been dating her and seeking her attention, but that is definitely not the case. And fourth it’s disgusting and insulting to women the way they are depicting one of their female characters like a dog in heat. Try showing some class Evans.
All giddiness aside. I has suspected that Bern might have another one of her talks with Nancy. It looks like Nancy has assumed the mother role that Greg had not provided her. Luann, Tiffany, Gunther and even Les had parental characters provided for them. Now we see that moving Bernice into the DeGroot’s residence may have been a brilliant move of several levels.
I hope this conversation gets a better resolution that the “Nil Kiss With Tongue” did! 8^ )
I’ve never quite believed that Bernice would confide her sexual issues to her friend’s mother who she’s known since she was a little girl. Romance, maybe, but not the physicality. I think it would feel too awkward. In the early days of the strip I used to think that Toni’s purpose after she married Brad (which I thought would happen many years before it did) was that she would have served as an older sister figure for Luann (and possibly in this case by extension Bernice). I could see more discussions of this type with a woman closer in age (and with less mother vibes) than Nancy.
Bernice is an oversexed little snob who has disowned and alienated her own mother, father and brother while seeking out a convenient replacement in the form of Nancy DeGroot. I don’t like her at all. I wish they would quit it with the Bernice stories.
Umm … Bernice, you should be calling her “Ms. Nancy” to show respect as she is your elder. I still call people “Mr./Ms. (first name here)” and I’m 65 years old. It’s the way I was raised. It doesn’t matter if the person is older or younger than me, but especially if they are older, unless they tell me otherwise. I’m guessing this strip is not set in the South.
If you ever wondered who wrote a comic strip, just look for a character drinking hot tea during a hot flash. That screams “guy wrote this.” You want to stand outside in the winter in your nightgown. Think Ellie Patterson. (One where door swings closed/locked behind her in the middle of the night) The only thing hot tea would be good for under this circumstance would be to throw at a guy asking “what’s wrong with YOU?”

Earth to Bernice you can not have hot flashes 1) You have never had sex. 2) You are not older enough to have menopause.

Oh?
So We’re now on a first name basis with your generous benefactor, Bernice?
Nevermind.
You’re about to talk to a lady that once told her daughter, in so many words, to “go after what she wants.”
If that is her advise you, take it, quit beating around the bush, and confront Mr. Jack once and for all.
And for the sake of the Luann/Jack shippers, let’s hope for a “failure to launch.”
