School just ended and now it’s about to start up again. Boy, did summer fly by. No trip to Maui, nohot pool party shoot. Just a contest that lasted one day. Oh, and no daddy coming home. A complete wimp-out for the summer. Maybe next week’s Bernice will have more interesting musings about being a muse.
Hmm. I just had a thought. We assume Tiffany lives in San Diego, CA, from previous stripes. I believe the age of legal adulthood in CA is 18. If Tiffany is younger than 18, isn’t good old Dad guilty of Child Endangerment?
Bets, zip it. This is between Tiff and her dad and her dad owns the house and instructed for those things removed pronto. Tiff has to honor her dad’s request. Tiff is learning that by not doing research on owning or starting a business, she has lost money on Waremanse because she now has to rent a legitimate rental space. How can you help, Bets? Figure out how much she needs to raise the rental fee to those whose stuff she is holding so she could break even or even profit.
Actually, Tiff should still be able to turn a profit. Each of her clients was paying her $90. I pay $90 a month for my storage unit, and two or three of those should be able to hold all the stuff Tiff has stored.
They need a van to move to a storage facility. What is missing? Storage agreements. The majority of the stuff belongs to students. However, the pool tables is going to be a problem.
This kills not only the bet, but all profits will be gone away as well. Tiffany will probably end up losing money. The good thing is that she can count on the help of her friends. And who knows? Maybe she’ll meet some storage space experts who are willing to give her advice on how to organize and manage the job.
And it surprises me that Bets, who is supposed to be super business savvy, didn’t stop to think about the liability before. Or that none of the people who paid to store stuff there asked about how their belongings would be insured if the house burned down.
Didn’t Tiffany have them sign a contract? Or did they just pull up, give Tiffany their stuff, and then drive off with no paperwork or proof that the stuff is even theirs?
Hmm. Seems like GoComics accidentally published Saturday’s comic today (Thursday). We are missing the two days of actual interaction between Tom “Cat” Ferrell and Tiffany where some sort of parent-daughter interaction actually develops.
Oops… maybe not….. it is just Greg wrapping up a story folks found interesting…. in a rather rushed, unsatisfying fashion.
at this point, just keep the stuff there and hope all goes well, stop taking in new business. (assuming she has no long term contracts with any of her paying customers…..)
Putting the stuff in storage makes no sense. If it is an illegal business, it is still illegal, though I can’t see why it is illegal anyway, and the internet exposure of the manse is still out there. Total silliness. And no resolution of the errant father issue. “Get that stuff out of my house!” does not seem like a friendly father-daughter gesture.
This series is a perfect example of the problems with today’s leadership. They come up with ideas to make things better that sound so good, but then fail to think it through and when it goes bad, don’t understand why. From the economy to crime to climate, the loons rush to enact so called solutions without thinking it through and they actually make things worse.
Yesterday Tom Ferrell intimated that perhaps he had not paid enough attention to his daughter. Today it appears that he has directed Tiffany to “Get that stuff out of my house.” That doesn’t sound like much of a “make up” to me.
Will he return to the Tom Ferrell of Wednesday and show up at the manse to help her clear up this mess?
We now are in the secod phase of this particular arc. pr as I try to demarcate it, “this set of panels.” What happens to Bets and Tiffany, where does Gun(ther) fits into the scenario? I have an idea, but I think that misirection play must be anticipated.
they have to put their thinking caps back on (3 heads better than 1). As long as Tiff can find a space that costs less to acquire than what she is charging then she comes out on top.
Good that Tiffany’s dad is being relatively tough on this foolish venture. I didn’t want to see a smarmy Disneyesque ending where Tiffany and dad make up for all the years and everything is fine as it is.
Tomorrow we see Tiffany hiring some movers – she explains where everything has to go and gives them the address for the storage unit she has rented – then, feeling quite pleased with how she resolved her little problem, she tells her Daddy that it’s all handled and heads over to supervise and lock up the storage unit. The last panel shows her looking into an empty building.
You’d think between her business classes and having Bern shut down the manicure business she ran out of her dorm some time back that Tiff would have learned by now that you can’t legally just start up a business wherever you want with no license or insurance. Or at least that Bets would have been aware of the liabilities before now given she’s been shown to be a better business student than Tiff. What the heck are these business classes even teaching???
Another case of “tell, don’t show” at work. Perhaps it might’ve been better for the readers to witness Tiff and Tom’s reconciliation instead of just having it mentioned in passing later.
perhaps the Fuse (where I’m assuming Tiff still works) has some space and would like to get into this business. Tiff shares some of the profit with Nancy and its a win-win situation.
She’s had the stuff there for a month with no problems. She could keep it 3 more weeks until school starts. Just stop posting anything online and don’t advertise for any more business.
How is Tom going to know when Tiffany gets the stored items out? She could keep the college student’s items a couple more weeks and Tom would never know.
That’s it??? They make up? She has to remedy this situation by moving the stuff to another unit? He’s not helping her. He hasn’t learned a thing . Still putting his job ahead of his daughter. She’s still floating by herself . Unless he flies home and helps her he reinforces my opinion of him, a clueless jerk of a father.
If thieves come in to steal stored student goods, they’ll find a lot more profitable (and portable) loot in artworks and tshotskes around the manse. He could lose a truckload of treasure and the insurance company could walk away laughing.

Tiff’s dad can’t expect her to instantly get all of that stuff in storage units. She’ll need to hire movers and coordinate it all.
Bets still wants that 500 dollars! lol

Okay, so Tiff and her dad made up.
But what does that really mean? Is he going to be there for her?
Is Tom going to make sure Tiff has her own private dorm room again?
What about the Maui trip? Did it already happen off-Strip?
So many unanswered questions.
And I’m FORCED to agree with Beb.
I think we’re being cheated here sorta.

Consolidation works in her favor. What might require others to rent ten storage spaces might fit in just one.
I believe there are plants to be watered and needing light., though.

The takeaway is just like in real life: Kids do stupid things. And kids are kids until about age 25. That’s right.
That’s why many trust funds don’t give money to the younger ones till age 25. The age of reason. We’re seeing kids be kids here.
