It’s been a month?? WTH?!? My how time flies in the Luanniverse!
After a month, Tiff’s wrist should be a lot better.. if not fully healed. Interesting that Dez would come on over but not Bets. Looks like Gunther is sick of having Tiff living there. This will definitely come to a head..
.
So is Tiff taking advantage of the guys, and pretending her wrist still hurts.. or is she on the level?
Sigh. Two froggin’ months of Tiff’s dorm drama, then Luann barely gets a month with an arc that barely went anywhere, and now we’re back to Tiff’s drama. I think I’ll skip the rest of this week and see where we are next week.
Tiffany is probably faking it because she doesn’t want to go back to the dorm, and she is afraid to go back to the mansion. She seems to have no one but her absent father. She has no place to go.
OK. It has been a month. Tiff, one would think that you broke you spine and are a quadriplegic the way you are milking this – it is just a sprained wrist. I am not sure who deserves the “Golden Holstein Award” for milking this more, Tiff or Les.
.
Oh, and Les, if she hasn’t given it up in a month, it ain’t gonna happen.
Gunther has finally pointed out the problem. As I thought the Tiffany’s situation gave him doubts, rightly! I’m happy to see Dez visit Tiffany, if anyone has any hope of reasoning with her, that’s Dez, probably Bets and Tiffany don’t talk to each other anymore because she lives too close to Gunther. So Go Dez! resolve this disaster and bring back Tiffany to the college!
Someone called this yesterday. Tiffany “milking” her “injury” for all its worth.
And I figured someone would be coming over and I did mention Dez among “others.” And those “others” are liable to show up before this arc is over.
Let’s see. Besides lads, including Ox, Luann and Dez know Tiff is at the Gulag, for at least a MONTH yet. And if Dez knows, that means that Bets, Stef, Hair, Viper and Kip know. The entire Hall A Gang may soonshow up before this over.
What amazes Me is that the apparently, NONE of the adults like Tom Farrell, Al, and Irma know. And if Al and Irma do know, that makes their melt-down over Bets staying over last year that much more hypocritical.
Tiff is staying because she misses the manse’s ex-servants waiting on her hand and foot. Treatment she’s now getting at the Gulag for FREE. If her dad knew what happened he might be compelled to hire those servants back.
OTOH, Dez and Bets might have dealt with noxious dorm-mate Stef, to the point that she’s no longer a “problem” and Tiff moving back to the dorm is now an option.
PS: I’m glad Dez is there. She’ll be needed to _referee when Bets shows up.
It’s been a month, and Gray hasn’t told anyone to get married? Gunther still hasn’t been forced to get a job? Gray, you’re slipping. Do you not even know about this? What would Momther say?
I really envy people whose lives are so stress-free and absent complications from the daily grind and who, evidently, navigate untouched through the wake of the flotsam and jetsam of the political and societal madness that surrounds us every day that their biggest upset is saved for dissecting the lives of comic strip characters.
And in an utterly SHOCKING turn of events for the Luannverse, GUNTHER is the only character man enough to take notice of what’s happening and be ready to stand up to it!!! WOW! Do my comic-reading eyes deceive me?! I must be dreaming!!!
The only thing certain about that window; by now half a million squirrels have gotten in & colonized the house. Any cereal on top the fridge is long gone.
So are we supposed to believe that Tiffany can’t hear this conversation? Okaaay…. but will Dez tell her what the shouting is all about? How could she resist? Maybe Dez can control her penchant for playing earth mother and actually help Tiffany admit her reason for staying with the boys (besides the obvious desire for servants). I agree with other commenters here regarding the massive hypocrisy this story has created. Gunther’s parents threw a fit about Bets living there and Tiffany has been there a month without even a whisper. Are they on a cruise? On a bike tour through the Alps? Either way it is just a massive story line, character derailment, which has gotten to be really commonplace in this comic. Greg should invest in a memory machine, his readers remember the story lines better than he does.
I will always defend GnK but the latest plot twists are a bit troubling. You make very prescient points, and I might add what does it mean that Bets and Gunther have not been at the Gulag together for a month. I have faith though, expect a crazy misdirection play that is informative and infuriating for some at the same time. It’s not Wednesday yet. Bets could be on a summer program for example which is somewhere else. So, hold on.
I do not believe Tiff’s malingering stems from selfishness or from missing her supposed servants at the Manse.
It’s strange, but servants have never been shown at the Manse to my knowledge. They have been alluded very rarely; almost never. Service personnel certainly never helped Tiff with any of the antics she has been involved in; like storage.
For all intents and purposes the Manse is meant to be a large, empty, lonely and loveless place for Tiff. This is to enhance her portrayal as the poor-little-rich-girl trope. Her behaviors have been consistent with this portrayal since the beginning. She has become somewhat less abrasive but just as needy over the years and has overtly expressed this need to Gunther.
I’m kind of shocked that the usually slow pace fast-forwarded abruptly. Luann only JUST found out about the injury a couple of strips ago. Something you’d think that she’d find out the next day. I’m kind of disappointed that the whole home invasion thing just acted as a plot beat to play off a whole, “If you give a mouse a cookie” narrative.
I remember Bernice and Luann going to the little resale shop. That could have gotten pretty kinky, but did not. So, for me, that was the highlight 0f the 2022 arcs and the rest, including this one, have all been forgettable.
What I find interesting——not amusing but interesting———-is when Luann made one mildly sarcastic comment to Tiff about how hard she was working, about 95% of the readers here started with the Luann hate. Luann was “horrible, hateful, mean, nasty, b*tchy, snarky,” and was doing her best to get poor Tiff “fired.” (And someone’s going to have to explain that last one to me, cause I didn’t see Luann do or say anything that would get Tiff fired.)
And now these same readers are saying worse things about Tiffany than Luann ever said. I wonder if they’re calling themselves the same names they called Luann? ;D :D
Several discordant, incongruous things happening. Has it really been a month, or just felt like it to Gunther? Yesterday he was happy to make her a cheese sandwich, today he’s up in arms about her still being there. Why is Dez bringing flowers now, instead of a month ago which would have been normal? Did Tiff drop out of college? Has someone taken her place in the dorm? Shouldn’t Tiff be out of that sling by now or is she, as many have said, milking the situation? Obviously, Les is “milking the situation” as he obviously has a super crush on Tiff. Tiff is in her happy place with three boys around her fulfilling her wants and needs.
First thoughts….. what is Gunther”s problem? He’s not helping the issue. It took a month for Dez or any of Tiff’s friends to visit? ( unless they visited while Luann was writing her book!) As I said before, Tiff needs to make a decision about getting over her fear and going back to the mansion, or moving back to the quad. Either way, she needs to get on with her life and get out of their’s. Maybe Dez has words of wisdom, if the boys ever stop arguing.
The old play and movie “The Man Who Came to Dinner” is coming to mind, only in this case it’s a woman. Basically, a VIP guy gets injured while visiting a family and insists on recuperating at their home, and on being waited on hand and foot—and even when he has recovered, he pretends he’s still injured.
I did not have time to read other comments today. One month makes no sense to me. Has she not talked to her dad? Is the window fixed? So many unanswered questions. oh my
Maybe Dez is there to take Tiffany away and back home, whichever place she chooses for home. Sorry if I am repeating what someone else said. I didn’t read every comment that was written since I read them this morning.
“Sensed something in the air”. That is a remarkable description of what you ACTUALLY HEARD when you were STANDING RIGHT THERE. Get off it Dez. Quit constantly pretending that you have transcendental awareness to the universe and try communicating with real language. She really is the most stupid, annoying character in this comic. I don’t like her at all. Self righteous, self important, puts herself above others with her supposed “abilities", and now she seems to have EARS THAT DON’T WORK (or don’t connect what she hears to her brain). BS BS BS!!
