Looks like Lu, Bern & Tiff spent hours peeking and it appears to be getting dark outside. If that’s the end, this was a non-productive arc.

Wonderful first panel. Beautiful colours, beautiful sunset and reflection on the water. The mansion looks even more beautiful, as if it came out of a 1950s film. There is a sweet melancholy in the air. Tiffany and Bernice have the same disappointed expression, the only one who seems to look for something positive is Luann. I’m happy about that, because Luann has showed a tendency towards depression. I hope that even with this melancholy, the three will be able to have fun in the pool and that Tiffany will invite them to come and see her again, both to talk and to swim.

Well, what do you expect? Looks like the sun is setting! You girls are SOOOO stupid!

Tiffany’s tongue-in-cheek final comment was the best (most humorous) line in the whole series. Lust with a laugh.

Look at the bright side: At least you got to spend some time with a couple of old friends.

A couple of IMO, “takeaways” here:

1) Stef never had anything to worry about when it came to Kip staying at Tiff’s.

2) Kip appears to be a perfect gentleman.

3) Kip seems to be more interested in Tiff’s pool than Tiff.

4) That new high tech security system Poppa Farrell had installed seems to be a bust, as it apparently failed to notify Pop that there’s some strange guy swimming in his pool.

Looks like it’s up to Bets and Gun to save what left of Summer, next arc.

Unless We get inflicted with a (UGH) “Shannon Story.”

PS: Check the water ladies. Kip may lurking underwater like a crocodile.

Classes begin on the 21st at the Cal. State Universities so they should be moving back into the dorms next week. Kip should already be back in the dorm since the football team should be having two a day practices. Will they still be 19 year old sophomores? Must be after 8 since the sun is setting.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, doncha’ know. Whatever… time for Tuff❤️Tiff and Sexy❤️Luann to pack up those string thong bikinis and micro mini little black cocktail dresses and hippity hop hop hop on Tuff❤️Tiff’s Shoog Daddy Daddy’s Windstar II and jet blue off to wherever Dearest Ann❤️Eiffel has set up her lair, oops.. shop Stalking the Wild Shoog Daddy, right smart pert near, boy howdy. Everybody called it. It was two days worth of story stretched over a week. It’s not easy to produce one strip a day every day but it’s getting lame when nothing moves.

thus endeth the lesson.

So instead of minutes (as we thought), Tiffany kept Luann and Bernice in her room talking about Kip for HOURS. No swimming, no party, no drinks, no eats.

Well, first impression is that I was wrong about Kip leaving. But – think of the possibilities. In real life he might be at the bottom of the pool, drowned. But this is a family comic strip. Second, he might have decided to make a beer run. Haven’t seen too much alcohol usage in this strip. Third, he might have known the girls were watching and decided to go get a couple of his best buds so the numbers were balanced. There might still be a pool party, but I doubt it. I never predict what happens in this strip.

Maybe the arc ends here. Maybe Nil shows up and lights Bernie’s fire, and Jack shows up and the other two compete for him. Best bet – none of the above happens.

So much for that party.

Move along folks … nothing to see here.

Looking at titles of various Luann books, such as “Dating Disasters,” “Love + Hormones Highschool” etc, I get the feeling that THIS is what Luann is always about. They want to fall in love, but they just aren’t ready.

Oh, it’s an “epic” pool party alright..

Well, that happened.

The always talk about guys reliving their glory days of high school, well Tiffany has definitely joined that group.

Those young women forgot a basic childhood rule. When you hear the ice cream truck – you get out there!

snide 1 liners on each’s part (sarcasm, food, guys) but these three have forged a bond (that wasn’t there previously) and even grown a bit, especially Tiff whose goal used to be to be to flaunt herself and get everyone else’s man. Now she’s learned that she won’t have friends (which are more important) that way. Too bad none of them see the beautiful sunset and the smooth water (that they could get into). But we do, or at least a few of us.

Was Kip ever invited to the pool party? He was in a way the guest of honor! If invited, didn’t he wonder where the other guests were or if he got the date wrong? Maybe he didn’t care or notice. Weird. Don’t ask too many questions, reader, that’s cartoon logic for you.

Bernice with a suntan? Never happen

They waited to long, talked for hours and what they got was nothing, yeah, where’s the food !, I’m hungry.

Don’t worry, nobody learned anything from the experience. Talk about a wasted summer.

Lovely art and colorizing. I was wrong. Looks like no one is there. Shouldn’t Kip be there to protect Tiff? After all, that was the reason he’s there. Hmmm

Someone needs to check the bottom of the pool and make sure Kip isn’t lying there.

And there they are, Luann and Bernice headed to the pool in the same clothing they arrived in. So the Duggar-Gear™ that B is wearing really IS her swimwear? And Luann really intended to jump into the pool in her workout clothes?

Problem solved, for now. Time to rustle up some food for your guest, Tiff.

Love the play on words! But I hope the girls swim anyway and have a good time by themselves. It’d be great to see Luann and Bernice bond with Tiffany. Who cares if Kip the empty-headed Speedo boy shows up or not? Maybe Jack, Nil, and Ox will come by!

I take that back; I do NOT want to see Nil in swimwear! ;)

Yep, we all saw it coming, eh?

No one seems to mention that the two girls are technically chaperones in case Steph either shows up or demands proof/truth that Tiff has never gone down to the pool by herself.

There wasn’t much cat food left on the porch just now. So the raccoon decided to eat what little there was and then get a drink of water and now he is gone.

(I know this is not as exciting as the life of my beloved Luann and my beloved Tiffany and my beloved Bernice but — hey it just now happened.)

It’s about the pacing. This was a 3-4 day arc at best.

About the color in the first panel: when Greg make a drawing with such a prominent focal point—the three ladies in silhouette—this kind of color gradient works well. The elongated layout allows more room for multiple hues than does a more square panel. This kind of color splash should not be overused, though. The only other strip I do this more than occasionally is Prickly City. Sometimes PC uses a single panel with minimal drawing so I try to make the look more interesting.
