For what it’s worth Les is doing him a favor in the long run. It’s obviously unhealthy to fixate on what an ex is up to when they’re only showing their social media curated “living my best life” image.

I’m exceedingly thankful that Les isn’t playing Cupid and telling Gunther to keep chasing after Bets when they’re clearly not on the same page.

I don’t agree with Les many times but he is right Gunther needs to move on.

One thing, eventually Gunther will have to tell Mom that Bets dumped him. Of course Irma might already know this as some believe she initiated the van road trip idea as she knew this would be the likely result. Bets could have also told Irma herself, via a short thank you over the phone for helping her find what she in life. Heck for all we know Irma and Al could be following Bets as well, doubtful but not impossible.

It really depends on the circumstances of their split. It’s either a Come back Gun and join the fun…or a torturous tease, and white women can be vindictive, i don’t think this is the case.

But I’m along for the ride, not a back seat driver.

They need to talk…or at least he does. If they don’t get back together, it’s a good lesson learned: You can like someone but not be able to be with them for the long haul. What Gunther would like is a Bets who wants to stay at school with him. What Bets would like is a Gunther who’d do whatever (not just most) of what she wants. The real-life G and B aren’t that compatible with each other’s real personalities.

I’m with Les on this one.

You know Gunther, Les is just trying to help you ungrateful piece of crap.

If Bets were having true fun, she’d be living in the moment. Her “fun” is only being validated by others. That’s shallow and so is she. You deserve so much more, Gun. I never had the feeling she ever really cared for you. I don’t think she is capable of love, other than self-love. And truth be told, I don’t think deep down she loves HERSELF because only the insecure need to be validated by others all the time.

Well done Les! Gunther will probably hate him for this, but the options were either do this or try to get them back together and Les is no Tiffany, he doesn’t believe in romance or destiny. I feel a little sad, because Bets was also friends with him (kind of) and I don’t think he would stop following her out of solidarity with his cousin. Maybe one day Bets could contact him to ask how Gunther is doing, it would be interesting to see what he would does in this case. I hope Gunther goes out now, goes back to college, sees his friends, sees Tiffany and talks with her.

I think that Gunther should at least try to contact Bets to see if they can make up with each other.

This is a pretense that Bets is actually posting from various cons. Gunny knows what happened to Bets and not being honest is his way of hiding it. Les is the only actual mature one in this bunch of self absorbed entitled misfits

Ok, so if Bets has moved on, and Luis was pulled out of the archives to do a cameo to emphasize the parallels between this break-up and the one with Rosa, then what purpose did Bets serve in the strip? Just there to demonstrate once again the type of woman that isn’t a fit for Gunther? (Although, I don’t really know what woman would be a fit, besides his mommy.) Just there as filler, and an opportunity to make money on what is really looking like a rather pointless novella? (“Read all of the details about yet another purposely-storyboarded bad matchup and subsequent failed relationship in the world of ‘Luann’! Limited edition, US-only!”.) Is Gunth going to be allowed to learn something about himself and his negative aspects and his self-imposed limitations, or is this just going to another in a very long line of “Well…. That happened” moments that G&K seem to love to put into the strip? I guess time will tell.

Today I’m in a dilemma.

What to do when BOTH of these guys are right at the same time?

On the one hand, I have to (shudder) _once again, _ admit that (GAG) Les right. (DARN You, Karen Evans!)

On the other hand, I’ve been waiting for YEARS for Gunther to declare he’s about Kill Les. (THANK You, Karen Evans!)

But sadly, Gunny _should _ have used his backpack and finished Les off back in High School while screaming THIS IS SPARTA!!! Not now when Mr.Knox is finally doing the semi decent thing and making some sense.

All kidding aside, Gunny and Oxford could learn a thing or two from Les. He doesn’t care. He treats all young women the same: As conquests. Sure, he gets rejected a lot but he keeps trying, never changing his laughable “approach.” I’ve known guys like Les. And sooner or later they end up with the sweetest gal on the block. One who thinks they can (Snort/Chuckle) “change him.”

As of now, Les still has his cat. All Gunther has yet another box of painful memories. Do you finally see where gving-in, caring and giving a darn gets ya Gunther?

I’m really looking forward to when Gunther has dinner with his “folks” and his momma Irma, (lady who betrayed him) leans over and asks her “little Gunthie” how his “little friend is doing?”

I hope for Irma’s sake that Gunny hasn’t yet learned of her “involvement,” as he reaches for a freshly sharpened steak knife.

Best thing he could have done for him! Only it’d have been better if Gunther did it for himself.

Obsessing over an ex is not a healthy thing. How is Gun going to move on if he keeps following her social media?

Also sure Bets looks like she is having the time of her life but that’s her social media image. She isn’t about to post anything that doesn’t show her having a great time.

Gunther; Les’ love life isn’t any better than yours, at this point. But, at least you have had a couple of loves.

I know the feeling, Gunther, but try to realize he’s trying to help, in his own way, and he may have a point.

So social media being social media i wonder if Gunth was “Following” Bets or actually on her friends list. The later meaning that she’s more likely to notice him dropping off.

Really if he just needed to cool down, simply unfollowing would have done the trick, or muting notifications from her. But clearly he wasn’t willing to do that, so I totally get where Les is coming from. Honestly, it’s a solid move. If she cares, it sends the message that he’s moving on or doesn’t care to see what she’s doing without him, which might cause her to reach out. More than likely she doesn’t care, in which case he’s one less number feeding her ego.

I agree with the others that he was largely a PROP for her. a way to get a few more eyeballs and access to his skill set (Costuming etc) I’d like to think she had a little more depth than that, if she does, it’s complicated by her past issues.

You don’t need Bets, Gunther. Besides, you two can do so much better than each other.

Now they do a personality change on Gunther, transitioning from whiny heart-broken mama’s boy to aggressive man who is threatening murderer. Oooh! So Scary! You better run Les!

I was hoping that Les was bringing up pictures of new girls on DatePix for Gunther. He didn’t resolve the problem at all because Gunther will just log back on to Bet’s website and continue to watch….until he gets over her, or he decides he wants her back. Les should have given him more time to wallow in his misery (since Gunther likes it so much).

Time to point out the elephant in the room.

Anyone else notice that all those notifications Gun is getting, are just what Bets sends to all her fans. There has not been even ONE private message to Guns. None.

Bets has always been about Bets. There was a short arc some time back where Bets got cold feet about commitment, then decided Guns was worth facing her fear.

Bets has clearly broken that trust. And demoted Guns to ‘follower’.

So yeah, Les was right. The only message that needs to be sent is silence.

I just realized that Gunther looks like Danny Masterson.

I love the smoke coming out of the phone at the end. I’m sure that it will be pleased with the break from “screaming” all day.

Gunther is to pussified to do anything about his relationship and she’s too narsacistic to care.

Why do they still draw Les as such a mean person. He’s more reformed now and is often shown with that cat on his lap. Give the guy his own story and show him as a bit more friendly. He’s actually trying to help Gunther.

I don’t like to predict after years of being whooped by GnK but I’ll go ahead today. Their will neither be a death match, nor will Gunther and Bets break up.. This story has several layers yet. And I admit the a returning Rosa, all set ro go to Yale, with Gunther following, and Bets in the way, would bring the story to a new level. By the way, Leslie IA really a very good friend Gunther; he is rough around the edges, but that Luannverse world had helped him become a better version of himself. He maybe right or wrong but something had to be done. I’ll hate that the BAers haters may win, but if it follows the story I’ll follow it. SOOOOOB!

Oh man… those are fighting dits…

I’ve never liked Bet’s. Hope she’s gone for good.

Bye Bets. I guess Evans must have realized that for the people not buying the book, there needed to be some sense of ending to the Bets character and that’s what we got.

Before Bets dated Gun, she briefly dated Les but left him for different reasons. Earlier on in this arc Les indicated that he had concern for her; so while Les is probably just trying to help Gun, it’s not 100% clear what his real intentions are.

Gunther needed that! Les is trying to help him see what he’s denying. Bets is doing fine. He needs to move forward, too. I always liked Bets, even though she had issues. But I never felt she and Gunther were a good long term match. She did help him out of his comfort zone and she got him to enjoy life more but she also brought a lot of stress and dissension regarding basic makeup of personalities and core values. She I also firmly believed that Irma didn’t like her and was never gonna like her. And in the long term that would be a dealbreaker for Gunther.

We knew Gunther had anger issues, but today he is threatening to kill Les! Very disturbing. And Gunther is not the type who kids around and jokes. He looks so angry in the last panel. Les has not been a good guy, but he is interesting and I’ll miss him. Poor Punk will miss him too.

Did she really move on though or is there just some drama afoot? I don’t recall Gunther ever saying she did. He did say she decided to stay on the road trip even though he gave up just because they hit a few snags, but unless there is hidden dialogue in that thing the author wants us to pay for (even though they lied and said it would be part of the free newsletter and tricked many of us to sign up for and then only published one edition of) then maybe he is being dramatic and needs to go to her.

Les has grown a lot since high school and right now has the potential to be the best, most supportive friend Gunther has. Where are Luann, Bernice, Tiff, et al when Gunther needs support? Definitely not at the gulag. And what about the parental units? As long as Gunny isn’t going to cut the apron strings, neither is Irma. Al is into control and isn’t going to relinquish it any time soon, like by accepting Bets living with Gun. Which brings us to Les. Les isn’t stupid, and he must have known that Gunther wouldn’t react well to the phone thing, but he did it anyway. He actually seems to care about Gunther despite their complicated history, and he’s showing it in a way that’s harsh but honest. I disagree with other posters who are suggesting that Les has ulterior motives, like wanting Bets for himself. I don’t think he’s that devious. He’s abrasive and sometimes even obnoxious, but I think that with Les, what you see is what you get.

Tough love, dude. I think he sincerely has Gunther’s best interest at heart. Good on ya, Les.

Why the Bets hate? Gunther made his decision to go back to school and Bets wanted to keep on traveling, that doesn’t make her a bad person, it’s just repeated behavior from Gunther to always follow the girl and then choose his comfort zone (normal routine).

If they had a fight about the blogging, and Gunther’s feelings were that Bets does it too much, then he should definitely NOT spend time looking at the bog now. Watching it on his phone all the time makes him a hypocrite. He should get it on the big screen. Then he’ll just be a fan.

Let me start by saying, for the most part, I liked Bets. Yes, her behavior was annoying at times, but nowhere near as annoying as Bernice! (Of course, Bernice is in a league of her own when it comes to annoying…) I always thought Bets and Gunther were an odd paring, but whatever!

If Bets comes back to Pitts, and gets back together with Gunther, I’m OK with it.

If Bets comes back to Pitts, and doesn’t get back together with Gunther, I’m OK with it.

If Bets doesn’t come back at all, I’m OK with it, although I will feel sorry for the people who really liked Bets (like luann1212) if their favorite character doesn’t return. Time will tell, at least we can hope G&K don’t forget the whole thing like they’ve done with other storylines.

My wife and I used to share our love for Luann. She passed away in June of this year. I’m not saying this to get condolences, it’s just that now I feel strong enough to get back into the strip…and I can tell you all that she would be pretty ticked off about the way the story line with Gunther and Bets has gone, because she loved Gunther and hated to see him hurt! I hope something better is coming his way…and she would NOT agree with Les’ actions. That should have been Gunther’s call.
