Which version was he singing in the last panel there? Carter Family? Woody Guthrie? Pete Seegar? I know The Kingston Trio version best and am guessing that one.
What a pleasant reminder of a song recorded by my ancestors. That branch of the family are called The Singing Carters, not to be confused with another branch called The Cussing Carters. lol
once again the double standard shows, if Earl did that to Opal there would be all kinds of over-sensitive people claiming spousal abuse. For me, this was just plain funny and for Earl I think it was worth it, he’s still singing

Worried Man Blues was first recorded by the Carter Family, but the first version I remember was the Kingston Trio version.

This reminds me of the Laughin’ Place from Song of the South

Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that’s wonderful is what I feel when I’m rubbing you
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you’re near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
That’s how this refrain goes
So come on, join in, everybody
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that’s wonderful is sure to come your way
When I rub you that way
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that’s wonderful is what I feel when I’m rubbing you
Brighter than a lucky penny
When you’re near the rain goes, disappears, dear
And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
That’s how this refrain goes
So come on, join in everybody
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that’s wonderful is sure to come your way
‘Cause you’re so smooth
You’re so smooth
My troubles went away
