Vive la différence! Only knew a few men worried about the color of their hair, and, conversely, only a few women who didn’t.

Come on Janis, it’s not like you can’t change it up if you don’t like it.

It wasn’t a “big decision” for me. 4 years ago I had my hair colored. It took 3 hours and cost 100.00. dollars and lasted about 6 weeks. Vanity is not cheap.

I didn’t have my hair colored till I was 65. I did it every other haircut. I had to quit when my husband passed, a cut and color was $165 + tip. I wasn’t doing it for anyone but myself, he wouldn’t have cared if I was bald. :)

I will never understand why a grown man would want to color their hair, you are what you are and that’s just life, I am starting to go gray and white a little and I like it, so does my gal.

It’s not a “final” decision… if you don’t like it, you can always start dying it again!

Arlo is comfortable with who he is and within himself. Janis is too aware of herself and needs to accept that she has a grown son and move in with her life. We all get old eventually. It’s what’s inside our hearts and inner self that matters. I am 71 walking firmly now into 72 and in the last quarter of my life and feel within meself that I am in my mid-30’s. My body? Not so much AT ALL. Our parts don’t regenerate. All we are is dust in the wind <3 Enjoy it while we CAN.

My wife quit coloring her hair. It’s got some really pretty streaks of gray, I think she looks great, she thinks she looks old.

I had dyed my hair for years, but one day, I decided that it was time to stop. I did wait until summertime because my hair color always got bleached out by the sun. Then the color of the grey/white was hardly noticeable. When my hair finally was all changed over to natural, my hairdresser said that it looked beautiful and that many women would “kill” for the same. That was about 20 years ago, and people are still commenting about my wonderful hair color.

My wife used to have her hair colored. I tried to do mine and just gave it up. Now both of us just worry about having hair.

When she said “No, I mean letting my natural hair grow in,” my thought was she was referring to “other” natural hair. I thought she was no longer going to shave her pits or legs.

I went natural, and besides saving tons of money, I actually really like the color of my hair. More salt than pepper, but it’s silvery salt.

In our society a woman who looks old is typecast as done for, out of the game. It’s a terrible shame. Older women are wise and have much experience about life. Janis is afraid of losing Arlo’s love.

Try on a gray wig first and see what you think of the look. Very few of us look like Emmylou Harris.

I’m not sure what Arlo said that Janis believes Arlo is making light of? He just asked what she expects her natural hair color to look like, and Janis gets her feathers ruffled. He’s not making a big deal of this decision of hers, but perhaps his responsibility here is just to listen, smile, nod, and not rejoin the conversation with any opinions or thoughts of his own.

Start with a lot of highlights, and keep adding them, Janice. By the time your gray grows in, it will all blend together.

I had a guy friend from college. Even in late teens he had splotches of grey in his black hair. It looked like some had dribbled a bit of grey paint in his hair. This guy got very tired of the constant questions & jokes. He decided to use a hair dye.Time passed & he began dating a woman who eventually became his wife. He eventually explained his dyeing of his hair. She thought this was hysterical & she frequently would tease him in front of people. My friend asked her to stop. She slowed down the public teasing but never fully stopped. So, we were all in our 40’s. My friend told me how he finally his wife to stop with the embarrassing jokes. He & his wife were at a back yard summertime party. She again teased him about dyeing his hair to a group people. My fiend looked at his wife & said how he did dye his hair and that was something that he & his wife did together. That comment drew laughter. The wife was livid that her secret had been exposed to their friends. At home she shouted at him. He told her how he would do it again any time she would do it to him. A few years later my friend stopped dyeing his hair. The grey returned only slightly larger than what it had been decades before. In fact he looked pretty good.

I colored my hair for in my late teens, 20s, and early 30s. When my hair started to turn gray I figured why not!!! I earned every one of them and being gray doesn’t bother me at all. I see more women letting their hair go gray and they are all beautiful!!

I’ve been thinking the same question. My now “natural” color is snow white. But I still like by deep brown color from my younger days. I am open to opinions.
