So THAT’S how you win a slow race!

Another Calvin and Hobbes strange set of game rules…..

so are they emulating two points on a record?

You have to make the rules before you start playing. This isn’t Calvinball!

You need Einstein or Dad to explain Hobbes’ behavior. Maybe he’s just moving backward relative to Calvin.

W-a-a-y back in the 1940s when I was a still a toddler, my family had no car, but my dad had his big old Indian Scout that served as family transport (me on the gas tank, Mom in the buddy seat, and baby brother squished between Mom and Dad). One day Mom sent Dad to the store for some groceries, but when he didn’t return in a timely fashion, she went outside and looked up the street, and there he was … practicing for a slow race. It seems that the motorcycle club he belonged to (the “Bats” if I recall correctly—it’s been almost 80 years, after all) had a meet coming up which included that race, and my Dad was practicing to compete in it.

Another sport where Calvin makes up the rules as they go along?

Maybe this is the competition for “Upper Class Twit of the Year”. What a great twit!!

Someone needs to set an “absolute number” rule. Negatives don’t count for going the slowest.

Hobbes is a quicker mover and a quicker thinker than Calvin is so Calvin clearly thought he would have the advantage over Hobbes in a slow walking race. Hobbes outthought Calvin yet again.

When the sergeant asks for volunteers

The key to moving slowly is to lower your temperature to absolute zero, so that all your molecular movement stops.

Dad told me they used to have “go-slow” bicycle races in England. See how slow you can go without touching the ground.

I’m not seeing this as a Track and Field event in the Olympics

You know, if you try doing that while playing Mario Kart 8 online, you’ll be booted from the game!

I didn’t know Calvin was such a stickler for rules. Unless of course, the rules benefit only him. There seems to be a lot of that going on these days.

Hobbes going by the old mantra: “Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat!”

Moonrunning?

Even if Hobbes was playing by the rules, the “race” would never finish. Neither one would take the final step and lose.

Afterwards, they can go to the monthly meeting of the Slow Talkers of America club…

Ha! That’s me waiting for the gym treadmill to get started.

This sport will be in the Summer Olympics in 2032.
