Why didn’t Tara already call 911?

Looks like Luann is displaying a great proficiency in handling the emergency situation. She may want to consider starting down the path her brother took. I’m sure Brad would be proud.

Ah, so I was right about Luann learning all this from her stint in childcare. Glad to see she actually picked something up and is putting it to good use.

Otherwise, is Vale supposed to be short for Valerie or something?

I knew a boy in school named Vale. Not unheard of.

Funny, I thought Tara was instructed to call 911 yesterday. Equally funny is that Vale hasn’t said anything about Luann tutoring him. I know this is an emergency situation but it’s like he doesn’t even recognize her.

And here I thought this was stuff he picked up from her Brother.

Did she also pick up some of this from Brad’s firefighter training.

Well I called it. She learned it at her work with kids. I have had my first aid certificate refreshers every few years which was why i knew what she was doing was correct. Luann I think you’ve found your place.

And you, Vale, look like a walking side of beef.

Funny how accepting Luann was about her “ordinariness” early in this arc and how insulted she feels when that stupid oaf confirms it!

Yesterday I noticed when Luann told Tara to call for help, and she acted like an idiot, standing in the middle of the room shouting for help instead of using her phone, a lot of readers rushed to defend her, as in: “Oh, she’s just scared,’ She’s in shock,” She’s panicking," etc, etc.

If it had been Luann doing that, the comments would have been more like; “Typical clueless Luann,” She’s so stupid!," What an idiot!," etc. etc. Noooooooo, no double standard here! /s

And why is everyone so anxious to pair Luann up with this knuckle-dragging Neanderthal? If it’s a choice between him and staying single, she should DEFINITELY stay single!

And I think it’s safe to say that Mr. Vale here, will NOT be Luann or anybody else’s “love interest.” ;-)

We have been notified; Luann is awesome.

I do think that Brad could set her up with a firefighter friend.

I’m afraid most of us have said a blooper that bad at some time or other.

It would be a nice change of pace to see campus security show up, see that Luann is large and in charge, and heap well deserved pats on the back on her.

I would think Brad & Tony would show up for this situation.

Tara didn’t call 911?

Vale probably means Lu doesn’t appear “medical”, not in terms of physical beauty looks. She called Vale by name, but Vale doesn’t seem to recall Luann from the tutoring session.

Is all this going to lead to Luann considering a medical career?

I think Luann might be slowly finding her dream career.

Way to go Vale. I guess he never read how to win friends and influence people.

Well, evidently, Vale hasn’t seen her in a leotard. Not ordinary at all.

Ordinary? Now she’ll want a brand.

So Bets’ and Tiff’s “Rebranding” was just a 3 week nothing. Hmmm.

I know the teacher is going to make it and Luann will have a “new brand” as hero, but I’m so much more interested in what would happen if Luann did all the right things and it still didn’t go well.

Greatness is not always visible on the outside.

Let’s hope this is a look into what could actually be a real future for Luann…

For me, with Luann’s assistance, Mrs. Horner can be considered safe. I don’t think any of the young people in that class did as many jobs as Luann and she only listed the ones where she learned safety protocols. Vale is right, Luann is way more amazing than she looks at first glance. Finally we know the names of the students in the class, we can imagine them talking to each other about literature and laugh together. Let’s hope that, after this story, this group will be more united.

It’s a dream epiphany. Nursing, ENT, FireDept. I didn’t say doctor because very few get into high pressure situations and Luann’s grades are “good”.

A cool. collected, Luann in an emergency. Who would’ve thought it. And, why campus security? Can they perform emergency medical treatment? Probably the best they could do is operate an automatic defibrillator, and, call Pittsville Fire Department, who’d send out Toni. Why not cut out the middle man?

Well, regarding the campus security, there are two answers… One, Luann didn’t instruct Tara to call 911 and she just did what first came to mind (which was yell, btw! lol). Two, this is a campus. Calling 911 won’t get them where you need them. Someone at the entrance needs to get them in the right classroom. So both need to be notified.

I work concert security. We have all sorts of people who work for us. One is a woman who’s a little… odd. She came upon a guest who had overindulged a bit, and was unconscious in their seat. She immediately began CPR, without checking for pulse or breathing, without laying them down, and of course they woke up like “what the heck are you doing!” Now she tells people she has a “save” under her belt.

The big one: Luann performed CPR on Bernice when she got a head injury in high school.

Good job Luann! But why did they have to dumb down Tara? It’s not feasible at all to imagine she doesn’t know about calling 911 (given her family history and all) LOL!

Luann’s eyeroll reaction in the third panel would be a bit less hypocritical if she hadn’t literally just been bragging (to the point of getting a t-shirt made: a t-shirt she is currently wearing by the way) about not having a discernable personality.

The Vale character is growing on me. He’s the only other student who tried to help Mrs. Horner. He’s just kind of a big goofy guy without an “edit” button, but he’s not as dumb as he seems (he certainly had enough “where with all” to steal Luann’s ideas for his school paper).

Vale is saying what 90% of us readers are saying—-probably unfairly.

On a side note, I was realizing how many male jocks there are in this strip. Jack, Kip, Ox and now Vale. That’s at least half of the male characters (of Luann’s age).

What’s the water for? You (generally) don’t give a drink to someone who has a medical emergency.

What an astute observation Skippy (Vale). You look like an overgrown fella, but you have a great heart. Not real good with words… But I’m glad LuAnn was there to guide him along.

Tara why didn’t you call 911? All you’re doing is delaying medical help.

A few years ago, the American Heart Association ran advertisements that told people to use “hand only CPR” if someone loses consciousness. They did not bother to point out that it was important to check if there is a pulse of it the patient i breathing, when it was pointed out to the American Heart Association that to do any CPR on a person with a heart beat could be very bad, their answer was that they were just trying to raise awareness and no one would do CPR without getting proper training. It is a good thing (I know, it is fiction) that Luann was able to stop the jock from killing Mrs. Horner with CPR.

Who’s the palooka? (Well, I suppose we’ll find out eventually.)

I know all of us is cheering Luann on!!! I’m so proud of her! She’s staying calm, focused, and is totally owning this!!!Go Luann!!!

See Luann, even if you are bored with yourself, you have a lot to offer, on a number of different levels.

Truly talented people don’t need letter jackets to know they are special.

Dang Boomers, your age is really showing here. Campus security rent a cops is going to get there first to limit campus liability against well meaning college students. They don’t really much other than observe and report. Now go back to Perry Mason. I’m done.

Ooh, wouldn’t it be cool if Brad is among the first responders? Can’t wait for tomorrow….

Ms. Horner will be OK. She passed out from playing the instrument. She will need treatment for her fall. Maybe a hospital stay. Not checking to see how many others made this prediction…..

Luann has that look that says if this wasn’t an emergency situation, she’s stuff her phone into his jaw. There’s plenty of room for it.

Either Greg is using Neanderthals for models, or he’s been hanging out with Cedar Savages from the U.P. of Michigan.

It didn’t occur to me that this might be a dream, but that would make sense. It would explain why Tara is acting so incompetent when she’s usually the one who takes charge.

By the weekend Mrs. Horner will be in the hospital recovering. The TV news will cover the story and Luann will become a local hero, unless gorilla-jaw tries to steal her thunder. Then, next week Luann will appear on the local news when the college presents her with a special award.

Haven’t we seen that stupid jock before?
