Yes, it is difficult to see oneself, in an unrehearsed, spur of the moment, video. It may also be a shock to see what’s-his-name, with his big ham hand, on her back. (see May 16th)

There’ll always be a new arc, just as there’ll always be folks for whom it can’t arrive soon enough.

If the camera adds ten pounds – like they say – Luann’s pants shouldn’t look so baggy.

It’s good to see Luann getting positive attention for once. Maybe the Evanses are on vacation?

I didn’t believe it at first because it hasn’t been long since we saw Gunther in his dream. I have changed my mind. Normally this wouldn’t even make the student newspaper. I studied journalism at a community college, and we wouldn’t consider covering a story about a teacher or anyone else fainting anywhere on campus.

I’m still waiting to hear what caused Mrs Horner to pass out. Yesterday’s strip mentioned “tests” while she’s in the hospital, so we should know something soon (in the real world we’d have details by the end of the week, but time runs different in the comics).

Filming it is tasteless. Was it the guy who thought she needed CPR?

Been waiting since the first panel she wore the custom “B.S.” shirt for someone to call her out on the obvious initials joke. Might be the TV notoriety will do it…

[smirk] Yup, like when I saw the low-quality camera video of myself crossing a street before getting run over. (To my disappointment, I never saw the accident itself: partly because the camera was positioned at the wrong angle to catch that; and partly because some car—very possibly the perpetrator’s car—got in the way.) Anyway, I said “I’m balder than I realized, and my walk looks ridiculous. …Excuse me while I watch it again.”

This is minor, but you would think a new reporter would give Mrs. Horner’s first name as well.

If Luann is going to obsess about how she looks on TV, at least it’s about how her pants look. Now if it were a certain Moony U business student/waitress come ex-model, SHE’D probably obsess on her looks, not her clothes.

In reality the news would never show an old woman lying on the floor like that.

The camera always adds bagginess to our clothes, I guess. ;-)

The reporter’s image is much more pronounced than the other characters of the strip, like she represents and actual person, or was superimposed by another artist on the background drawing.

Hopefully not just a dream, but if it is, maybe it is a sign Luann wants to make her parents proud, like Brad does, and she can’t imagine a different career doing that?

It’s just a nice 15 minutes of fame for our “hero”, Luann. I don’t think she’s going to make a career move out of it. But it is nice to see something positive happening for Luann.

How nice to see Luann on the news. It’s also nice to see the homage to Pam Kragen, who is certainly a friend of the authors. For a moment, given the similar hairstyle and hair color, I thought she was Bernice’s mother. Then I looked her up and she’s a real person, but her hair should have been blonde… Whoever recorded the scene must never have appeared in the comic. I wonder who they are and if we’ll ever know. The big question is how this will change Luann’s life. Can’t wait to see.

Gen Z-ers generally don’t watch much television news and I daresay few see much local news online. But those who do (most likely, Gunther and Bernice…yeah, where is she?) will spread the word. Plus, parents of those students and her fellow classmates will share her heroics. As a Luann DeGroot fan, it pleases me to imagine those parents saying, “Why can’t you be like that Luann?”. :)

No one is ever prepared and ready for their moment on the 6 o’clock news.

I don’t know of any news cast that would show an old lady on the ground, unconscious. They would always blur out the face, at least.

“Well Luann, if you think your pants are too baggy, have you considered dressing in a more flattering style instead of in all these shapeless clothes?”

Well, maybe Luann will stop dressing so frumpy and actually start thinking about her looks.

Wait’ll we get to the part where Luann is interviewed, after so much has happened so quickly that she hasn’t had a chance to refresh her makeup.

That is a self-depreciating comment, who said she was narcissistic? Remind me of the Annie movie, when she saw herself in the big screen and said, “my hair is big!”

Isn’t that what a lot of folks do when they see a picture of themselves, critique how they look?

Maybe Luann will care more about her wardrobe now! Fingers crossed she stops dressing like her great grandmother. Although when I see myself on TV or in pictures, my first thought is always “My hair!!!”
