Some years ago, cut off my pony tail and donated it to Locks of Love. Then I had my head shaved. I asked Spouse if I should also shave off my beard and mustache, and she said, “No! You’d look like an egg!”
Years ago, I had a mustache but I worked and attended meetings with guys and almost all of them smoked, I was a non- smoker. My mustache frequently reeked so I shaved it off.
Both my father and my husband have had mustaches as long as I have known them. Hubby has grown a beard, but he is part Cherokee, so the beard is SO scrawny. I’ve suggested several times that he shave it off, but all I get is funny looks.
I knew someone that had a beard for most of his adult life. He decided one day that he’d shave it off. He hadn’t thought it through fully as his face was tanned, but his beard line wasn’t. It looked so funny. Fortunately he grew it back quite quickly.
I’ve had a beard/mustache for over 50 years. I shaved it off once just to show my wife what I looked like without it. She told me it felt like she was having an affair. I grew it back – immediately.
I had a mustache when my wife and we met and started dating. She made a comment “I wonder how you would look without the mustache?”. I offered to shave it and she said “after the wedding”. So…. the next morning (after the wedding), I shaved it off while she was still in bed. She came in as I was washing off the shaving cream and started yelling at me. Apparently I wasn’t supposed to ACTUALLY shave it off. I might have shaved it off only 2 other times in the last 30 years and that was only for one shaving.
My partner shaved his beard/stash off when he was out of town visiting his mother. Almost didn’t unlock the driveway gate. Only thing that let him in was I recognized his dog.
I had a mustache for 30 years because my wife wouldn’t let me get rid of it. I finally shaved it when we learned to scuba dive so my mask wouldn’t leak.
I don’t critique my spouse’s facial hair. In return, he doesn’t comment about how he prefers my hair long. Every couple has to find what works for them.
As a certifiable geezer, I am always amazed and flattered that so many attractive young women love my handlebar mustache. Fifty years ago, it might have led to a closer relationship. Now it is just a bit of momentary joy as I plod on toward senility.
funny…a friend of mine was shaving one day and got to day dreaming. next thing you know, half his moustache was gone! so he shaved the rest off and started all over from scratch!!
My Father-in-Law was a Training Instructor in the Air Force. One day, he was instructing his troops on the importance of being aware of what they were doing, at all times. Apparently, that night, he didn’t sleep well, and when shaving, the next morning, accidentally shaved off half his mustache, but wasn’t aware of it, until one of the Airmen pointed it out.As sharp-witted has he was, he said he did it as an example, to see if anyone was paying attention.

Forty nine years ago a female friend told me I needed a mustache to look older. It’s probably no longer necessary, but I haven’t shaved it since!

I grew a beard in 1976 because I had no chin.
I shaved it off in 1981 and I had two no chins.
I grew it back and have it still . . .

When I shaved my beard off, my son’s dog came around the corner and stopped. He stared and stared. Then he sniffed and was wagging his tail.

I find that most men look nicer with some facial hair. There are, however, a select few that do best with a clean shave. Never know til you see both!
