We’ve had Nancy’s take on child rearing this week.

If you regret having kids, that’s your issue to deal with. Don’t take it out on them. They didn’t have a say in the matter.

Parents want their children to live long enough so they—the parents—can spend their inheritance.

18 years? Didn’t Brad live at home after high school for a bit? I know it’s hard to tell time passage in the Luanniverse.

Don’t blame Shannon?

I hate it when parents push their kids to have babies.

My son apologized yet again today. Every time his 6 yr old does something sneaky or rotten, he remembers his youth. He said he hopes he wasn’t as bad as her. He was much worse.

I hope Toni’s pregnant

Then, after you’re good at cleaning up after the kids, you’ll be able to care for your Dad and me in our retirement years

Sure glad I was a little angel all th time

Now we’re drifting into platitudes. Time for a good plot next week.

But, won’t it be TJ picking up after Brad’s kids??

And the great things about being a grand parent is that you can spoil them, get them on a sugar high, and then dump the back to their parents.

As a father of four I don’t wish anything like this on my kids.

I’ve enjoyed watching Brad and Nancy bond over raising Shannon this past week. It was a safe environment for Brad to just talk and enjoy being with his mom while doing cleanup housework. My mom is gone now, so this week brought back some good memories for me.

My bet it’s TJs crumbs.

My kids are now begging me to lift the Mothers Curse (that they have kids just like they were)

Whenever you feel like telling your kids “I hope you have kids just like you!” remember, your mother said that to you.

I don’t quite understand the point of having kids only to wish upon your children that your grandchildren give them the same problems as when you were raising your own kids. It sounds a bit vindictive. Nor can I believe that people wanting children are so naïve as to believe raising children is going to involve nothing but unicorns, flowers, butterflies, and rainbows. Raising kids involves sleepless nights, hard work, exhaustion, drama, unending effort and sacrifice, and they tend to be very expensive. I’m not sure I would wish this type of burden on any particular couple, and I certainly would be pushing them toward such responsibility if they chose to remain childless.

Now we know that Brad joined the Fire Academy at the age of 18!

18 years? he’s older than that, his younger sister is in college

My father used to say “Wait till you have kids!” Well, fooled him, never did.

We used to tell our daughter “I hope your kids are just like you” and she’d accuse us of being mean

I was 8 yo when I decided to not have kids; 64 years later still child-free.

The sooner the better so that the grandparents can enjoy them longer.

Yup, I also think that some of those crumbs were left by Brad. I loved seeing Nancy help Brad through a difficult time with Shannon. Let’s hope Frank gets a similar opportunity of shining in the future.

i said to my son, just wait until you have kids and theywill just be like you. he never had any kids. lol he is a good stepdad and loves his nieces.

Nancy, you might have to wait a long time.

Brad is realizing the challenges of parenthood.

No, Nancy, it’s not the “Mother’s Prayer”. It’s the “Mother’s Curse”, as in “I hope you have a kid that’s just like you.” And, yes, I’ve seen it happen.

I’m sorry for your loss. Praying you’ll shed no more tears in heaven!

I guess next week we might get to see how Toni does with Shannon. This is so boring. I have no idea why G&K think Shannon is an interesting character.

And WHY ON EARTH is Nancy running the VACUUM when Shannon is sleeping?

It’s more like every PARENTS’ prayer, not just mothers!

And poor Nancy is still cleaning up Luann’s messes.

I’m enjoying this arc with Nancy’s presence too, but I would be fine with something new next week. Maybe TJ at Kafe Kablooie to remind everyone that he has his own business and is Brad and Toni’s roommate, not their live-in help. I have wondered what will happen when B&T do have a baby, as I believe they will. Will TJ move out? Will the baby sleep in the room Shannon uses when she’s there? Will TJ remodel the place to add a bedroom without Frank and Nancy’s permission again?

Yeah, I’ve been texting my mom about little moments that my niece puts my sister through that us kids used to put my mom through.

Okay, now it’s time for Frank to come in and make a snide, unhelpful remark.

Every parents prayer.

My hubby is 68, and still leaves crumbs everywhere he eats.

I’d take this banter over the BS I put up with in my family any day.

Ah yes, the good ol’ “I suffered so should you” type of parent. Guess they never heard the old saying “Every kid deserves parents, but not all parents deserve kids.”

I can remember drawings of Brad stuffing himself with Oreos and with crumbs all over his face.
