I guess we all have our own story to tell. Like it or not, we’re the protagonist. We may not understand why things happen to us, come into our lives, even why we’ve made certain decisions or ended up on one career or another, but we are all playing our roles on the great stage.

I’m sorry but I agree with Gunther. Cats should not be on the table or counters. It is unsanitary. But he could have asked in a nicer way and just cleaned the counter without complaining.

I’m with Les on this one! Sometimes, it feels like Gunther gets easily bent out of shape over nothing these days!

For Les less is more and it’s all good for him.

Another reason I no longer have a cat. Couldn’t stand one that got onto the counters or around food.

It is interesting that cat and dog owners think their pets do not walk on the ground or eat feces…

I know the point is that Les talks, but he’s spending his life without ambitions and eating junk food. But Gunter is really ridiculous with that obsession for hygiene. Punk is a cat who never leaves the house and is probably cleaner than him. Making a scene like that for the fear that some hair will end up in his salad is really absurd, even disinfecting everything? Seriously? They really are the odd couple!

I don’t care what anyone says about Les anymore, cuz anyone who cares about their cat like he does is fine by me.

Spago’s, Puck’s first restaurant in LA was on The Strip, right across the street (Horn Ave) from Tower Records. In the 70’s and 80’s, Tower had the best prices, so we’d make the trip from Silverlake. Puck had turned the parkways – that green strip between curb and sidewalk – into herb gardens. Parking was terrible in the area with the Rainbow Room, Roxy et al nearby, so we’d have to park in the residential area and hoof it down Horn. I cannot begin to recount the times I saw a drunk or homeless person urinating or vomiting into those gardens. So, yeah, Wolfgang Puck, not as much an icon as clean as one’d think…

A day or two of the philosophy of life for Leslie was interesting but a whole week has gotten long. If the strip is going to be boring, at least make it boring with Luann.

well he seems happy, and the cat is loved. someday he may make someone happy besides just himself. Gun is just doing his life as well as he can also. No wrong way as long as you aren’t hurting anyone else, really

Les is perfectly content, he has Punk to take care of, eats three meals a day, does his own laundry (unless he’s got Gunther roped into doing it), manages daily transportation needs, attends to his personal appearance and hygiene, does a good job at work, and likes to play video games in his free time.

Gunther, on the other hand (after studying and attending classes), likes to make every-single-aspect of every-single-day more complicated than it needs to be, and is perfectly comfortable telling other people what a failure they are, (since he’s such a genius).

I vote for Les and Punk!

Cats use the litter box then walk on the kitchen counters. I would not eat anything in a house where cats walked on the counter. Gross.

I think all that food prep is only warranted when you have guests. When fixing for myself, I keep it simple.

Gotta side with Gunther here. It’s the same reason why I don’t like eating outdoors. I want to keep the food I’m eating and any critter (flies and cats come to mind) that have been walking in “unmentionable/censored” stuff as far away from one another as I can.

Time to move out.

But Punk loves him. . .

I can imagine 10 years down the road, when Gunther has graduated and has a well-paying job and a nice house and perhaps a wife, and Leslie comes knocking on his door looking for a place to crash.

I’m on Les’s side on this one. Gunther’s always been a constricted mommy’s boy, incapable of having a good time.

There’s a plus side to this. Very few people would be content doing what Les does for a living. But it’s still work that has to be done. And if someone such as Les is content, let him alone. Just because others don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s their obligation to make him aspire to something else. Just be glad that job is filled by someone who enjoys doing it. It’s all good.

It’s you who’s not living. Work home and repeat with just Punk for company. You need to go out and interact with people other than Gunther.

I agree that cats shouldn’t be on the counter when food is being made, but to disinfect the area is a bit much. Just wipe down the area.
