Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for October 27, 2024

Trump rubbed his magic Supreme Court lamp and a six-headed genie came out from the smoke and mirrors and gave him one wish. “I wish for PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY for any acts taken in my official duties as president.”

“Granted” said each of the forked tongues on the six-headed Genie.

Suddenly a bright light flashed in the Biden White House and a voice told him that the sitting president was granted total immunity from any acts within his “official” duties (such as maintainging the public order).

A little voice said to Trump: “But Biden is president right now. Be careful what you wish for.”

Also note to remember: Trump claims the Vice President has the authority to reject electoral votes. On January 6, 2025, that will be … KAMALA HARRIS.

The U.S. will never lock up a person that once sat in the White House. It would tear the country apart.

Ford lost the election because he was reviled for pardoning the criminal Nixon; but it was probably for the best for the country. (My first election was the ’76 primary and I voted for the peanut guy.)

    Unlimited presidential power.

The Supreme Court knew what they were doing. Congress can impeach him if he lets them but nearly all the Republicans are already claiming he isn’t cognitively responsible so they would about have to acquit.

Give Him A Grandiose Time Out

Black Ops him using the combination Truman and Groundhog Day Plan as approved by an official presidential act. Starts with a needle making him comatose. He is then taken to the undisclosed location which is a replica of the White House Oval Office and residential wing where upon awakening he is treated as being #47.

Everyday is the same. He is inaugurated, declares himself dictator on Day One , and signs the order listing his “enemies within” and their punishment. He then wants to go golfing but has to use a simulator because of the raging stormy weather he sees outside the Oval Office window.

At night he tweets and eats junk food. Faux News is always on the TV playing the same entertainment every minute of every 24 hours. Another tranquilizer and sedative and “it’s déjà vu all over again”.

One of the papers he signs but does not read is a statement telling his MAGAts to stand back and stand by for the location of a rally to take place on January 6, 2025. It is released to the American public and declares that it will be a totally peaceful rally and a day of love.

Every day until Harris’ Inauguration Day is the same. The cognitive impairment test he is given always provides the same result for him. He is a stable genius.

President Harris sends him to Guantanamo. Everything done is legal because the elected President did it.

I try to learn what’s happening in the world from AOL News—which is just a compilation of stories from other sites. To tell the truth, I don’t know WHAT to believe any more! Who is leading in the polls? Or is it a dead heat? BTW, my brother and I already voted by mail. Too bad they can’t be counted until Election Day.

I see there’s no “icon” to symbolize the Biden Administration. Wasn’t the last one a battered Roman centurion’s helmet symbolizing Dubya? My personal favorite was the icon for the Reagan Administration—a movie clapboard in front of the White House.

    FASCISM

See Heather Cox Richardson’s substack post on October 26, 2024. It starts:

Beginning in 1943, the War Department published a series of pamphlets for U.S. Army personnel in the European theater of World War II. Titled Army Talks, the series was designed “to help [the personnel] become better-informed men and women and therefore better soldiers.”

On March 24, 1945, the topic for the week was “FASCISM!”

This one isn’t actually funny, but the SCOTUS thinks America is a judicial dictatorship. And I don’t think Biden’s proposals can work. Especially no chance of a Constitutional Amendment these years. But he could write an Executive Order saying “faithfully execute the office” means “obey the laws”. Yeah, I know it won’t matter if the orange puppet gets back in, but at least we can laugh at the explanation. Or ROFLMAO if the Court intervenes to declare the EO unconstitutional for defending the rule of law.

So how about a couple of light jokes?

    “You’re fired!”

    “Why?

“You voted for the orange albatross and then he crashed the economy.”

Or how about a seasonal song based on “Hark the herald angels sing”:

    “Squawk the orange albatross lies,

Glory to me the American KING.

Scares your pets with illegal tooth fairies…”

Next line should rhyme with “reconciled”? Okay, so I won’t quit my day job to write jokes.

    He sounds exhausted and defeated.

The message is something like “well, we’re down to the wire not and you folks have been generous with your donations, which we’ve used very effectively. There is still time to air more ads if you can find the money to donate for them”

Since he’s now a convicted felon if trump causes trouble his bail can be revoked and imprisoned until his sentencing hearing late next month that’s been delayed twice already. The Judge can hand down a harsher sentence than he would otherwise if he incites any violence. Let’s all hope he loses decisively next week

Ok, now Trump is “predicting” a bloodbath—which means he is ordering one up from his supporters. You can not say that Trump didn’t incite an insurrection. He just failed at it, as he has a history of doing with just about everything he has ever attempted. His announced “blood bath” isn’t going to succeed either.

2000+- of his supporters have been indicted, 400+- have been jailed. I doubt if any of them are showing up for another attempt. He has sponsored Jan 6 anniversary rallies that were poorly attended. He has been indicted 90 something times, found guilty of fraud and sexual assault and no one rioted. Many Republican politicians, even those who don’t denounce him publicly will not support him when it comes down to it. They just don’t want to lose MAGAt votes. And, I suspect that even most of those who actually believe his nonsense will be busy that day if possible jail time is part of the plan.Even if they do manage some damage, it could not possibly be as bad as what would happen if Trump were elected.

This in no way negates the possibility of a few MAGAts shooting up a school or something, but as far as a big event, I just don’t believe there are that many hopelessly stupid Republicans

It would be virtually impossible to undo what the Trumpists plan to do if they win the election, especially since they encourage violent means to get what they want. Please note that i don’t say gain power in that it is obvious that they have been leading a shadow government in parallel with the elected one the past four years. And, they haven’t even bothered to hide the fact. Why have they been allowed to get away with this?

Most of you people are unbelievable! You are accusing Trump of doing exactly what the democrats have been doing for the last 4 years and that Trump most definitely did NOT do when he held office. Can any of you give a list of what Harris has done that would indicate that she is worth electing? (And you can’t just scream “Orange Man Bad!” which is all I have heard from any of you.) Other than sleeping her way to the top, what are her qualifications? Opening the borders? Record inflation? Giving billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine so that they won’t spill the beans about the Biden’s dealings there? Leaving more billions in military equipment for our enemies to have and use against us? Driving the price of everything up to near record levels? Taxing and spending worse than drunken sailors? Weaponizing the FBI and BATFE to murder American citizens? What, exactly, has she or Biden done that deserves another four years?
