guess again, Daddy Jonah

Well, she did finish the milk.

Clearly Shannon can’t hold her chocolate milk.

Dang, Shannon – You missed. Another 15 to 20 inches forward and your dad would have had brown hair just like he had when he was first introduced to the strip.

It’s about time we see Jonah (right after father’s day) and Shannon. Going to Brad and Toni’s, all delivered for bed, except for a little mishap. How will Jonah handle that, delivering her “on time for once?” This will be a new stage in that relationship, both Jonah to Brad and Toni, and Brad and Toni in terms of taking c/o Shannon. Should be interesting, and still, possibly, all about the parents, although in this case the child in not in the stage of being able to liberate herself from bad parenting, as Les and Tiffany were apparently able to do.

Looks like deadbeat Jonah would need to clean his car before he heads out on the strip.

Well in the last panel, Shannon does look a bit remorseful about the accident she had.

Boooooo! Go back to the Les and Ann storyline. It was getting interesting.

Was that “accident” purposeful? Maybe Shannon doesn’t want to go to bed when she gets to Brad & Toni’s.

Does Shannon look like she’s finally getting older?

Jonah looks very cheerful – on the way to getting somebody to take care of his kid. At least he cleaned her up before delivery. I do realize it’s really tough for a single parent that has to work. Most of the time it’s retired grandparents that help out – but I recall Jonah & Toni’s parents are dead. Nevertheless I’m suspicious that Jonah may be visiting a girlfriend instead of the purported acting gig. In that case, Jonah should sure has hell spring for a babysitter.

Did Jonah brake, causing Shannon to spill her drink? I know its happened to my grandson when we quickly braked due to a car that cut me in the front or something like that. Well, if Toni is anything like me, she has extra clothes at her house for Shannon and will quickly change her clothes and tuck her in. Launder the clothes later.

No possible prediction to the next trip.

Here’s a prediction: Jonah will very coolly dump Shannon, messy clothes and all, on Toni and Brad, without a second thought.

Looks almost like Jonah actually try to be a good parent.

This string is played out in my opinion. Just when I was enjoying the Ann ‘adventure’, Jonah appears. I’ll be with Sluggo and Nancy until this resolves itself (it never does). Please let me know when it’s safe to return!

OK, a Brad/Toni arc, and with Shannon! If we had to go away from Tiff/Gunther, that’s the place to go. Will there be any progress on whether or not Brad/Toni adopt Shannon? Time will tell. Enjoy Shannon… just don’t let TJ get you into trouble… :D

Hasn’t Jonah had his shocking, unexpected demise yet?

Do we have any details on her mother? What happened? Who is or was she? (Don’t say Ann Eiffel please!)

I thought Shannon was older than that.

Hardly a disaster. That’s why we have washing machines. Children teach us to give up control and tolerate confusion.

What hasn’t been addressed today (until I came along!) is whether Jonah called Brad and Toni and told them he was coming, or is he just going to show up unannounced as he usually does?

I can do without this story line!

I am getting an errie feeling about Shannon’s expression and her unmodified comment “OK” in the last panel. She appears confused about the dropped drink. Add to that the lack of any clue as to what caused her to drop (not spill) her drink. Does this portend the start of another “acting out” arc, as seen in recent Fay and Tiffany arcs? Or, heaven forbid, some sort of health or developmental issue ahead for Shannon?

Something has to go wrong. That’s the way Luannverse has worked lately. Fay lies to her mom. Tiff regressed to seductive behavior. Les scammed his mother. Even Jack had a blowout on his truck. My, my, my…

BTW. Shannon is definitely shown to be older in this manifestation. Somewhat past the precocious toddled stage?

I do STILL not like Jonah’s S-E-G expression on his face. BUT, he is saying the right message. I hope for the best.

Jonah says “on time for once”. I wonder how often Shannon stays with T and B? What kind of job does Jonah have where he works at night?

to all the Shannon haters. She is a kid. Even without a ‘bump’ kids drop stuff. HEY! Revelation, adults drop stuff too! IMAGINE THAT!

@TYGE – It could indicate the beginning of an arc where Shannon has a neurological issue requiring surgery.

Will the Evanses repeat the same tired old Shannon-brings-mayhem -to-the-Brad/Toni/TJ-household storyline? Or will they try something a little different this time? I’ll check back in a week or two.

I am feeling a bit “ornery” today I guess…. but here are some admittedly wild speculations on my part:

1. Perhaps Shannon didn’t simply spill the chocolate milk…. she upchucked it. Note that Jonah said to FINISH the milk…. suggesting the container was mostly empty…. but the “spill” (aka upchuck) is large. Perhaps Shannon is coming down with some bug and will infect the Toni/TJ/Brad household?

2. Jonah must have a VERY IMPORTANT gig if he is going to be on time!!!! Woah… he must be moving on up. I wonder where his big “gig” is? Pitts? Campus of Moony U? Coffee shop on the commercial outskirts of Moony U? But…. with Jonah being excited that he is on time…. and now with Shannon’s unfortunate spill…. might he be shown as a very kind, gentle father…. by having him take time to gently and reassuringly help Shannon clean up when he is at Toni/TJ/Brad’s home…. and then….. as many (not me) have predicted…. meet some untimely end due to rushing too fast to the “gig” because he was now running late?

3. Could Toni and Brad get mandatory call-in to work due to an emergency situation where they both have to go in to help quell fires and riots that have broken out in California due to the “3-State Proposal” Controversy? And, perhaps TJ is not home, and Luann and the other DeGroots are not available…. what will they do?

If any of the above three turn out to be true…. well…. I don’t know. It would be shocking.

All we need now is to see the flashing sign telling the audience to yell “Adopt! Adopt! Adopt!”

This is the kind of accident every kid has. What’s Jonah’s excuse? He expects too much from everyone but himself.

To bad the milk didn’t end up on Jonah’s head.

Extinguish, the all firefighter band, is my prediction to save the Fuse.

Perhaps Jonah can start a single father support group / band. Except for the drummer, who is married.

I don’t think Brad and Toni know that Shannon is going to pop up again.

I think folks are too hard on Jonah. In the category of mediocre single parenting, he is fairly high functioning. It’s been 30 years, but I don’t remember that I was a whole lot better. Shannon is well-fed, never left alone, has a stable living situation with stable backup childcare, where she arrives in a reasonably organized manner.

Jonah has been a good Father these last several months now that he needs a little help with Shannon for a short time he is a bad parent?

Geez, she just spilled a bottle of milk and already people are second guessing that she has meningitis or Anthrax or something!
