This is System Planet 6! System Planet 7 exploded 6 months after we were left here. The shock shifted the orbit of this planet and everything was laid waste. Spaceman Spiff never bothered to check on our progress.
With Calvin’s imagination so active merely sitting at a desk, I’m wondering if it’s going to be launched into another dimension when he learns to drive a car??
It frankly mystifies me that, over and over, Calvin seems to be baffled by the simplest possible arithmetic (x + y = ?) Doesn’t the boy have fingers, for crying out loud?
They skipped the middle part of the story arc. The Dad attempts to teach Calvin basic arithmetic using coins, and Calvin soon catches on. The next day at school, when Miss Wormwood gives the class a math quiz, Calvin is sure he’ll ace it and bets Susie 25 cents he gets a higher grade.
As a kid, I was not too fond of arithmetic, so I created a story where the odd numbers were at war with the even numbers. Whichever way the answer ended up would determine the victor of the battle.

I’d to know Calvin’s secret to getting that ‘wind-swept hair’ look while sitting at his deck, inside a classroom.
