Reminds me of a video I saw in my Facebook feed one time of a nurse cutting in line at a coffee stand saying she’s privileged to cut in line. She storms out in a huff when told she cannot cut no matter what.
Got my first jab last Tuesday, so by March, one year to the day, I’ll be out of house arrest.
I’m sufficiently of age & have the requite handful of co-morbitities, but it was 10% pluck, 90% luck. I made ‘em promise me that it wouldn’t make me (any more) autistic, and I’m really not too worried about Bill Gates tracking me. Smartphones & Facebook already do a great job of that…
Stephan, Stephan, Stephan. Tsk, tsk, tsk. When you say you do all the great puns – shouldn’t you admit that you actually do some of the worst puns? Then again the worst puns really are the greatest (I was wrong Stephan, you are essential.).
I’m in Aroostook County in northernmost Maine….we are very isolated and really at the “end of the line” you might say. This week some elderly man drove five hours from southern Maine to get his shot in Presque Isle. He somehow managed to get on their list. So that was 10 hours of driving and he’ll have to come back for his second shot. Personally, I think he was unthoughtful towards those of us here needing vaccines…..but I really think he’s a jerk because he bragged about it on the local news. I don’t care if he’s seventy something years old….there are plenty of people here in the county that should have been offered that shot before him. By the way, he did not break any laws or guidelines by the State of Maine….he just took advantage of them. I’m only 69 and don’t qualify for a shot at this time.
I’m trying to think of how many comic strip artists are so famous, their names are household words and a group of people standing in line would automatically know them.
Did anyone see “Shakes the Clown”? They were party clown that hated mimes. They came up on some mimes, and Adam Sandler called them “You silent mother******s”
If my state continues to follow the progression they’ve been using, I’ll be in the fourth group to have the vaccine available. They are currently giving it to the second group, so I’m not holding my breath.
On the bright side, if there turn out to be any nasty side effects that they don’t know about yet, maybe we’ll know by the time they tell me it’s my turn.
In my state, just getting on the list to enable you to attempt to make the appointment for a possibility of getting an injection because vaccine supplies are uncertain is pretty much like filling out a lottery ticket, except the odds of success in the lottery are much better than the odds of succeeding at just getting on the list to enable you to attempt to make the appointment for a possibility of getting an injection because vaccine supplies are uncertain. Oh, but the lottery costs a dollar to play. The attempt to make the appointment for a possibility of getting an injection because vaccine supplies are uncertain is free. /s
Nobody would get it if anti-vaxxers had their way. They temporarily shut down a clinic in Los Angeles yesterday. Perhaps they should have the right to not take the vaccine themselves, but they certainly don’t have the right to interfere with other people who do want to take it.
I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it and I don’t have the time to go through 114 previous comments so apologies in advance. In Manitoba, prisoners, including murderers, rapists et al go to the front of the line for the covid vaccine. Figure THAT one out !!
Seriously, I still don’t “get” today’s strip. I usually have no problems with puns. Maybe I am having a senior moment as an octogenarian, but I really would appreciate a simple, not-sarcastic, and not even a witty explanation.
“It was said that [Vetinari] would tolerate absolutely anything apart from anything that threatened the city*… [Footnote] And mime artists. It was a strange aversion, but there you are. Anyone in baggy trousers and a white face who tried to ply their art anywhere within Ankh’s crumbling walls would very quickly find themselves in a a scorpion pit, on one wall of which was painted the advice: Learn The Words.”
Ha ha (in best Nelson Muntz voice)! Big shot Stephan Pastis, a.k.a. Cartoon-Boy, gets last shot. I kinda sorta think there’s an ethical lesson lurking somewhere in there. Right, Pig?
I’m below the felons on the vaccine list too… Of course I want it first but, (with a few exceptions,) felons aren’t sentenced to death, yet because they are packed into a place where they can’t easily stay 6 feet apart and get fresh air, they are kind of doomed without the vaccine. (Also, so are the guards.) Where as I can continue to live in a house and go for walks in my neighborhood and have my groceries delivered for another few months, (I’ve been doing it for 10+ months now…)
