I’m gonna call Brdshtt on this one. If it was serious or at least important to Luann, I don’t think they do it near the end of the week with only two more comics left in the arc. And I highly doubt they will actually spend another week on this.

And of course, now that I said that, watch them spend three more weeks trying to find a picking out a cute bob and another finding a barber to do it.

The hair is not the real issue, even though the snip looks scary. The real story is Luann’s angst about her life now. She is stuck, with no relationship either. Actually pretty common for her age. Shannon is channeling a truth finder in her play-acting.

On Saturday, Shannon becomes a lumberjack.

Who talks about their deep concerning life issues with a hyperactive 6 year old. Also where did Shannon get scissors? Didn’t Luann put them away in a drawer?

Odd. Luann took the scissors away on Monday. And Shannon isn’t holding them in the first panel.

The scissors should show up in the first panel of Friday strip.

Nah, I think one of the most widespread majors you could choose is Mechanical engineering. Or Computer Science which has many job opportunities (including engineering).

I don’t really know much about undecided majors except the stereotype that they are only at college because their parents forced them to.

Poor confused Luann. Not being able to decide on a major is really painful. Then, there are all the other unsolved sentimental things in her private life, especially with her so-called BFF. I hope Shannon didn’t cut her beautiful hair, but Luann needs something to give her a boost to start a change in her life and I have to say, a new hairstyle would be a good start.

I’m betting the snip didn’t come from Shannon, as she doesn’t have any scissors in the first panel or, it seems, the second. Unless she’s like the Joker and has scissors in every hem and pocket, ahahahah!

Okay, one little snip by way of Shannon could lead to something better for Luann. A journey begins with a single step. Perhaps this single step is Luann being awoken from her doldrums by the actions of a bratty child which leads to other things beyond a new hair style (which she may have to get in next week’s arc). Changing this one thing could make Luann realize that other parts of her life can also change such as settling on a major, finding new friends (considering that Bernice is her best friend, this is a priority) and meeting new people, getting a job, trying new activities, perhaps even meeting a potential love interest, the options are many. She does not have to be stuck in neutral while the world zooms by her.

Here we see the purpose of this story arc. Greg wanted to give Luann a new haircut and wanted to justify it.

OK, Luann. Time to stand up, take off the towel, get those scissors out of Shannon’s hands, and tell her you’re going to wash her hair and then she’s going to bed. You told her she wasn’t allowed to use the scissors and she did. Fun’s over.

Well, it was probably time for Luann to update her look anyway. She’s had the same hairstyle for years.

Ok, so what this is, the writers have decided to change Luann hair do and are using Shannon as an excuse to make Luan go to the hairdresser and get a new style.

After dealing with Bernice’s hyper-active tongue and the Gunther-Bets declaration of love, Greg has returned to his comfort zone: the world of childish minds and muddled teenagers.

Wonder if this is somewhat prophetic of what is going to happen in Luann’s life. Her life is a tangled mess and something needs to be “snipped” out of it for her life to proceed.

Well she picked those scissors back up. Looks like Luann is getting an unexpected makeover.

Well what did Luann think was was going to happen. Duh.

Is the tangled mess comment about the hair or Luann’s life? Time to get rid of that tangled mess from both.

Shannon cut out one small tangle. No big deal, it will grow back and hardly show.

Shannon seems to be a better guidance counselor for Luann than the ineffectual one at her high school.Agree with Boomer on t he “tangled mess” remark.Shannon’s just getting the imaginary chewing gum out of Luann’s hair.

for the first time in this arc there is actually a wee bit of depth; Luann opens up to Shannon who is 6 about her own personal tangles and snarls, i.e. indecision about the direction of her life. Shannon only sees the tangles in her hair and attempts to cut them out. Is it possible that all of this will lead to Luann getting a new hair cut which then leads to a new perspective on life? …..a tall order and I am not too hopeful.

Normally, I don’t mind Shannon. But in this instance, if she actually cut Luanns hair after being told no and had the scissors taken away, there needs to be some sort of punishment. You just don’t do that.

There is no actual snip. We do not see Shannon actually cutting. It is a metaphor representing Luann’s literal need to “cut” out the indecisiveness that has plagued her life…

Oh good, maybe we can see Luann in short hair for a change!

What’s interesting to me about Shannon is how she’s grown up in the last week or two. She’s visually bigger and acts more like a grade schooler. Those who teach elementary ed (or mothers) may have noticed as well.

This would have been a great Saturday cliffhanger, cut away to another arc, then revisit the new Luann and her new „do“!

Love it! Now that’s worth waiting for! Not only is Shannon an expert hair stylist, she can also levitate off a chair and back onto a chair in a half second to get the scissors! Is it possible she developed teleporting skills? Maybe she will advise Luann to take a break from school and find a job.

I guess Luanne will be getting a new look. I believe Greg was considering that a few years back.

We could get all Zen here and see that Shannon is Luann’s inner child cutting the ties to her bland, arrested development past and breaking out as a real full fledged adult. Ooooommmmm!

so Luann is aimless by her own admission. She wants a boyfriend but what guy (who wants a real relationship) would date someone who has no interests or goals, no dreams or aspirations to share.

I DON’T RECALL ANY MAJOR ARC THAT HAD TO DO WITH H IGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE SPORTS.The cast tries out for every other kind of activity,but nothing athletic.

Okay,with Knute that was no surprise……

This reminds me of the last time Shannon was messing with scissors without permission and accidentally cut herself (9/19/2020 for those interested). I mentioned that Brad needed to lay down the law right then and there instead of just babying her about her injury, but the commenters here insisted that Shannon had learned her lesson and no scolding was needed: she now knew never to touch scissors without prior adult permission.

Except that even if today’s comic is just a misdirection, Saturday/Monday already showed her messing with scissors yet again. Shannon clearly HADN’T learned her lesson. So are people here gonna man up and admit that they were wrong about discipline being unnecessary, or will I need to do some “I told you so’s” and call people out by name? Just let me know. ;-)

Well, it looks like I was wrong. Shannon still had the scissors. I wouldn’t leave my dog with Luann. Totally irresponsible.
