Well, at least we know Tiff is still working there, even though she has plenty of BRIBE money stashed away. lol

Nancy needs to vent before she explode and fires everyone.

Casual ageism, frustration over stress and energy expended working while older; generational lesson? Nah can’t be unless a certain KE wants to stimulate an hilarity ensues arc… interesting.

I’m sure once Nancy gets over the two customers she had to eject, she will realize that TJ and Tiff mean well. It’s the juxtaposition that is creating her present attitude.

Just as long as Luann doesn’t say something later in this arc.

Stabbing with a knife and twisting the blade. So now Nancy is going to join Frank in a mid-life crisis. sheesh! Also whatdayaknow — Tiffany is still working at the Fuse.

I’m surprised because I was expecting the baby Karens to kick up more of a fuss. But it’s possible when Nancy walks back out they’re throwing a Karen-level tantrum in the dining room. Maybe they’ll leave but Karen-out on social media with bad reviews and blog posting. The worst scenario I can imagine is the girls running into Ann Eiffel, the Karen of all Karens, on their way out and she recruits them to get back at Nancy and Tiffany because that’s what a vengeful Karen like herself would do. But, they’re young, so maybe they’ve learned their lesson and won’t grow up to be COMPLETE Karens, and maybe this comic strip will be more about Nancy trying to feel better about her age than dealing with all these Karens she comes across. At the very least she should give herself a break to relax after handling these Karens before getting back to work.

Now we see the wear and tear of trying to maintain two careers in middle age.

As I age I can now recognize times in my youth when I was patronizing but was clueless back then….

I respect that even as the owner, she’d rather be serving customers on the front lines, alongside her employees. But even so, I still feel like she’s pushing herself too hard.

I dunno what the “problem” is.

In an era of short tempers and escalating violence among masses, Nancy, using just a few well chosen words, managed to dispatch those two “harpies in training” just as easily as she did with Ann Eiffel.

That’s something to be kinda of proud of.

But Nancy. Just don’t looking for moral support and sympathy from “folks” younger than you.

Bide your time. I’m sure Frank will make it all better.

Nancy isn’t that old. Really she isn’t. I’m surprised the way this story is going. She didn’t need to make excuses for herself that have nothing to do why she is upset. Who hasn’t been asked if they are okay after having to deal with a difficult person? She should have said that she just had to deal with a difficult customer. Her excuse is what brought on Tiffany’s response, which wasn’t meant to be insulting. Just take a walk around the building until you calm down, Nancy.

Considering what happened earlier, wrong choice of words, Tiff. But, you didn’t know.

Those of us behind the 4th wall know your heart was in the right place.

Well, while it is insulting, the fact is the older you get, the less stamina you have. We just don’t like being reminded.

Ageism is the next -ism that will touch everyone

Now we see where Luann gets it from.

I like Nancy’s response that is like the dark silhouette of a sledge hammer with a bent handle.

Greg never did name the two girls that were ejected. In that case, I will name the one on our left – the one in the greenish top. “Flippy” sounds good.

So confirmed—Tiffany still works there. And apparently this is going to be about Nancy feeling old. In this case at least the youngsters are showing respect and caring.

Time for that handsome stranger to show up again.

Hmm. The first time we saw Nancy come home from working at The Fuse [2020/04/24], she was full of energy. On a later occasion [2020/10/12, ff.], she said she was “beat”, mentioned what I presume to be her age (47), and subsequently fell asleep while sitting at the kitchen table to keep Luann company. We have seen her arriving home from work at least a couple more times since then, not being so worn out [2021/04/05, 2021/05/24]. Still the contrast between 2020/04/24 and 2020/10/12 has me wondering whether G&K might already have been contemplating whatever’s going to happen in the current arc.

Warn Tif once then if she show you lip again, FIRE HER!

Wait, this particular strip isn’t about Luann, or Tiff! For me , that’s one of the delights of this particular comic strip, that Greg follows the lives of several characters, and their situations change.

Tiffany… Worst choice of words ever!!! But it’s sweet to see her so worried about Nancy and she can’t know what just happened to her. I think both Tiffany and TJ see Nancy as a mother, TJ a lot and Tiffany at least a little bit. Nancy is having a hard time with the way others see her. She needs to rest and talk to someone. Perhaps Mr Gray or, even better, with Irma if they will came. It would be nice to see her with some friends.

On her feet for five hours? Huh, I’ve just got home from a twelve and a half hour night shift on my feet all the time, with just two very short breaks for half a cup of tea. And I’m older than Nancy!(I work in an emergency theatre and we had non-stop long and involved operations last night, so no chance for any of us to have our proper one hour break).

Okay, hear me out! I am 55, I still enjoy jogging very much on Sundays, I am not your “oh look there goes an Olympic athlete” kind of guy, but hey, I am trying to eat healthy, stay fit and strong as much as possible. Why am I telling you this? Well, one time I went to my local sport store to get a new pair of running shoes, the young girl from the cash register couldn’t help to notice some of my gray hair, never said anything, but it was obvious she tried to “guess my age,” it was uncomfortable and upsetting! She made me feel like I didn’t belong in there! If you are very young and are reading this, pleeease don’t treat people that way, even if it is just a look! You’ll be surprise how competitive some of us can be! After seeing this strip, I had to vent… sorry!

I take what Tiffany says as “let the younger people do more of the work, because that’s how the guys I work with treat me. They aren’t mean or condescending, they’re really just showing respect for all my years of working a really heavy job.

OK, now we see the idea behind this arc. Nancy gittin’ old? Age shaming? Battle of the generations?

A cursory browsing of https://notalwaysright.com reveals that if she can’t take what transpired she’s not cut out for the hospitality industry; what happened to her was mild rudeness at worst

I don’t see how they could say “angry” looks the same as “tired”. Nancy does NOT look tired or droopy in the first panel, she looks like she’s going to put her fist through a wall.

I think they have a liquor license… Looks like she could use a drink.

Chaosed2 has hit the nail on the head. The problem with writing arcs for Luann is that she has become a responsible adult. Do we really want her to regress and start making bad decisions or have her life fall apart just to make the stories more interesting? That is why we see Tiff grow and then go back some. It would be great interesting for about a week if she stopped being self centered. The answer is a time jump of about 15 to 20 years and write about there kids. Tiffany’s daughter is a bookish Freshman interested in Gunther’s jock son and since this is not what they were in school there not really much help (not bad parents just more of perplexed)

Tiffany look thinner. Good. I’d like to meet her. Her hair is so pretty.

At least they mean well, but feel free to call them asses too and chuck them out. I enjoyed that. :^D

Looks like this is going to be an arc about Nancy and age. Think she might be getting tired of the routine at The Fuse??

That reminds me when my niece – at the age of 19! – told me “Aunt Dayle, I don’t want to get old!” First, I was going to kill her right then and there (problem solved – she wouldn’t get old) but I flat-out asked her, “When are you going to kill yourself?” and she was shocked, “What do you mean???” and I replied, "Well, if you don’t want to get old, then you’re going to have to kill yourself so that won’t happen! What do you consider “old”? 35? 40? She shut up after that…

Wow. the % of people blaming these 2 is astounding. I mean REALLY? They did nothing wrong. And neither did they say anything wrong either. I am 65 and sometimes feel older, until I read the comments here and realize how old people really are. Some of you give OLD FARTS a bad name.

To be fair neither of them heard the exchange so they’re not aware of why Nancy is so miffed.

The most insulted group in this country are older Americans. They’re bullied, laughed at, or ignored. The only thing they’re good for is their money, if they have any. Just wait until it’s your turn maybe then you’ll see.

I seriously doubt that employes would make condescending, patronizing, agist remarks to their boss, however well-meant. Karen’s having TJ and Tiff act like this to make the blameless, overworked Nancy’s life more fraught. N. doesn’t deserve it. Neither do we.

1. Nancy gets along great with her people, but today she won’t just tell them what happened?2. The problem was not the hours but the jerks. Why write that Nancy looks ‘droopy’ when that is not the case or the issue?3. Why make this an age issue when it’s about customer service and teamwork? Other times staff has jumped in to address problems, like Nancy helping out Tiff with Ann Eiffel. Why leave Nancy alone now?

Greg fumbled today’s strip.

A bit surprised that Tiffany is still working at the Fuse after getting her Dad and mansion back,She is being written as a blend of opposite traits as she goes between selfless (helping Goun and Bets get back together)and selfish (planning ob stealing the QB from his girlfriend).I hope the character continues to mature from the selfish one dimensional cheerleader she was in High School.Since she is still at the Fuse maybe explore some bonding with Nancy

Not exactly how Tiffany should have put it but yeah, if she needs help, you’re the boss!

If i recall correctly when Tiff started waiting tables she too complained about being on her feet for long periods. I hope these episodes don’t cause Nancy to stop working at the Fuse; working there has added a dimension to her character.

You want help? Find an adult.

I am afraid that Nancy will have to become more used to this attitude as time goes by.

Oh, this actually made me laugh. Talk about pouring gasoline on an already lit fire! Poor Nancy. Getting older ain’t for sissies. (Trust me, I know.)

Remember when Tiffany was getting bullied at work by Ann Eiffel and TJ didn’t do a damn thing to help his employee, and Nancy was the one who had to finally step in? Boss lady here deserves a lot better than the people she’s surrounded by, just sayin’.

The down side of aging you start falling apart. What is the upsides of aging again?

The Customers were bad enough. Now, she’s getting it from her Employees.
