Luan is asking an important question. The way she describes herself is not necessarily the way she is. I describe myself as young, tall, devilishly handsome, and totally irresistible to women.

Yes, you ARE the indecisive type. That is why you are at the career workshop and taking that aptitude test. To find a career that suits you the best based on what personality type you are and what your values are. You are the social type who depends on others for advice and decisions. Just now, you are depending on Bernice. Bernice is just the opposite. She does not depend on others. She does things on her own and is pretty decisive. That is why she snarks at you – she doesn’t understand your personality type and makes fun of you because she is not social and is decisive and believes she knows herself. Methinks this will become clear to you after you’ve taken this aptitude test and compare tests with Bernice.

I think Bernice will try to rig her results by lying and Luann will not even finish the test. I remember early on Luann suggested to Frank and Nancy that she was thinking about Juilliard school for the performing arts. Frank nearly had a stroke. Now, she has become a real space cadet.

If the answer to question #8 is just a simple “yes” or “no” answer then Luann definitely reads too much into any question or action as well thus complicating her decision making process even further. Hint: If the question says “Would you describe yourself…..”; then the answer is simply how you would describe yourself not what you actually are because you do not know except for opinions from other people like Bern which is not all that reliable! So lets face facts, as you are so indecisive you do not even realize you are indecisive because you can not answer the darned question in the first place because you are over-analyzing it.

Can’t see all the „hate“ toward Bernice, even though apparently G&K want us to.

I like cap9 s summary above, which explains far better than I can, why Bernice „snarks“ at Luann.

The two have nothing in common, it would seem, though this is an opportunity in its own way for the two to understand each other and maybe make a positive change.

It still looks like Luann’s biggest problem is that she really isn’t interested in the help she is being offered.

Bernice may have a thing or three to learn about how to carry herself, but it is clear that she is light years ahead of Luann in so many ways.

But Luann just isn’t paying attention.

Interestingly, back on March 20, 1985, the scene is almost exactly the same – Luann is asking Bernice to move over a little so she can copy Bernice’s test. Even more interesting, you will also see, is that at the time, Luann was originally right – handed.

Many people see me as indecisive and wishy washy, but I’m not really. My problem is simply that i can see too many sides to any issue and can see valid reasons for supporting each side and it takes longer to decide on the correct decision for me as i need to work my way logically through several positions before i know the right answer.

Poor Luann. She’s so insecure about herself and doesn’t like herself at all♡. This test could be very difficult for her because she has to go through all these things about herself that she doesn’t like. I can understand how Bernice can be bothered by her behavior, but just want to change place is such a lack of empathy.

See Luann from a week ago:

    https://www.gocomics.com/mycomics/1687419

Where Bernice gives her the same diagnosis:

    Wikipedia:

Aboulomania is a mental disorder in which the patient displays pathological indecisiveness.

It is typically associated with anxiety, stress, depression, and mental anguish, and can severely affect one’s ability to function socially.

Although many people suffer from indecision, it is rarely to the extent of obsession.

The part of the brain that is tied to making rational choices, the prefrontal cortex, can hold several pieces of information at any given time.

This may quickly overwhelm somebody when trying to make decisions, regardless of the importance of that decision.

They come up with reasons that their decisions will turn out badly,

causing them to over-analyze every situation critically in a classic case of paralysis by analysis.

Lack of information, valuation difficulty, and outcome uncertainty can become an obsession.

…and yes, Bernice, you may move, to Kansas (or Oz).

A public apology to MOST of you.

I realize I am very opinionated, and snarky myself, but generally I like to think my if my answers are of course sarcastic, and a bit over the top, people are intelligent enough to tell.

For those who do not see it, it is not a failing of course. But if you actually have read many of mine, you will see that I usually take the side of the one being picked on.

I was bullied a lot. Later in life I learned not to take it. I will stand up for women every time, so don’t expect that to go away. I also will not sit idly by and let certain things be said without a response. So I think that maybe, to an extent, that is why I did not sit by and let them do it.

One of them, came in quite late to the party, and basically went after me, but more importantly my wife. Also implied that I should “smile for the reticle” which I learned and at first did not connect, to a scope n a rifle, as a t_hinly veiled threat that I should be shot._ (A reticle is basically the site lines on a scope of some kind, a telescope, microscope, or a scope on a gun as it happens)

I have flagged the monitors about this person.

Whatever I have said in the past, all this was triggered by a response mocking me for characterizing a comment as if addressed directly to a character in the comic, something many of us do.* It has gone on way too long. I am done. They have not won. I just have realized it isn’t worth my time any more, and they are not worth anything to me.*

That said, I am sorry if you have either had to scroll past a bunch of escalated crap, because 2-3 individuals with a collective mind set chose to keep coming at me. More importantly, I am sorry if any of you had to read this crap.

I haven’t commented on here in quite awhile (though I usually read the comments), but this arc is too much for me to stay quiet. lol

Luann missing her Kidz1st job makes sense to me. It’s not about goofing off, it’s a creative output for her PLUS when you have a knack with kids, watching them grow and learn is so rewarding. Someone here once mentioned that she should get into working at a kid’s theater, and I agree. I highly doubt that an aptitude test will tell her this, as they usually don’t ask about your interests or one’s ability to work with kids. Which, some here seem to think it’s a sign of immaturity, but that’s not always the case. Some people, my self included, are able to see things from a child’s perspective- doesn’t mean that we’re childish, just that we realize why a child is acting the way they do. The kids I look after love me, and so do the parents. I can’t tell you how many times I was able to steer a kid away from doing something destructive without them realizing that that’s what I was doing. lol Because I always enjoyed working with kids, I just assumed that I should be a teacher… then I was a teacher’s assistant a few times in school. Yeah… realized that that wasn’t for me. There are many different jobs out there for people who work well with kids, it’s just about finding which one works well with your personality and skills. The problem with the way Luann is seemingly always played for laughs and facepalms (unlike the rest of the characters it seems), makes me worry that we’ll never see her find what fits for her. Which, I feel is a shame, because there could be plenty of funny and dramatic situations in that. Maybe even meet new potential guys to befriend/date?

I think Bernice’s smugness about her career plans is due to be taken down a peg. She’s not cut out to be a psychologist, and definitely not a therapist.

Luann might be a decent therapist, if she wants to be. I could see her being a psychiatric social worker. At this point, though, she seems more interested in the arts.
