Mr. A comes across as kinda smarmy. Trying to impress her by handing her her tip? Shields up folks! Tiffany doesn’t need any more grief, although that’s what she’s been getting for awhile.
How sweet. Tiffany has become good with people. She has grown so much since high school. Sometimes she takes a step backwards, but then she moves forward. Maybe some of it is to get tips, but I don’t think that is all the reason she is nice to people. I think it has become automatically from the heart.
So it seems our Tiffany is a good server in spite of being the rich girl from the mansion with staff. She is learning a real-life skill. I believe cutting her allowance is a blessing in disguise.
So, I’ve noticed this trend of sorts that seems to be popular among today’s younger generations, in that they address older people by whatever the first letter of their last name is, such as “Mr. A.” in this case.
I notice, once again, that the men in this strip almost always have their collars buttoned to the top. But, my first impression is that this smiling old coot, with the pony tail, is testing the waters with Tiffany. I think he’d like a private showing from his favorite waitress.
What a shame – G & K had to ditch Luann and get back to Tiffany to show personal growth. Bern couldn’t fuel much action with Luann – they should have given Tara a shot at it.
Oh! The great Sergio Aragones ♡! It’s not the first time Greg Evans has paid him a tribute, but making him a character in the strip is totally unexpected and totally awesome! It’s nice to see how Tiffany is a good waiter, she takes care of the consumers and is appreciated by them. So nice ♡.
I normally read my daily comics on Arcamax because GoComics doesn’t carry a couple of my favorites. However, if something piques my interest, I always come back here for the comments. Thank you everybody who let me know about Sergio Aragones! The commenters over there didn’t have a clue.
Well, the Luann arc of the Luann comic strip ended on a fairly upbeat note, and now the non-Luann arc of the Luann comic strip begins on a fairly upbeat note. I wonder how long it’ll be before the excrement makes contact with the mechanical air circulating device.
I never served Sergio Aragones a meal, but I have my own memories. When I was sharing a table with him at a comic con, he inspired me to get a rolling suitcase to carry myself stuff, instead of a hand truck and cardboard boxes. At an earlier con. when I was still using the hand truck and boxes, Sergio stopped to help me pick things up when it all tipped dover and spilled. He did a nice drawing for me of himself drawing my character Patty-Cake. It was in a sketchbook that got destroyed in a basement flood. I must have photocopied it and used it in an issue of my comic. I can’t remember now.
And after I’d only been in the business for a year, I was up against him for the Eisner (best humor publication.) I didn’t care that he won- of course he did. I was so excited to be taken seriously enough to be nominated against a giant.
And, we take a break (or, just plain leave,) Luann still in future career crisis, and, move on to Tiffany interacting nicely with a customer at the Fuze. Where will this storyline lead?
Tiffany is slowly yet surely developing into a mature young woman with her head settling firmly on her shoulders. Nice to see the character development here (in more ways than one)! :D
Thanks to all who recognized Sergio Aragones. I may not know him, but really enjoyed Spy vs Spy and the Marginal Thinking in Mad magazines. Nice tribute.
Today’s sudden transition seems to confirm that the last few weeks were another throwaway arc where nothing really changed and no characters actually experienced development. Or does someone here think Bernice is gonna change her major to pre-law?
Oh wait no, we got to see Margo Phelps again! Except we already got to see her as Tiffany’s therapist, and it already covered the story beat of “no matter what form of counseling she’s doing, she’s kinda bad at it.” Feels like the only thing the arc accomplished was to tell us what Mr Fogarty has been doing since retirement. But other than his creator gREg, did anyone actually care in the first place? He was never a particularly well-rounded character, after all.
Still, at least we get to see Tiffany again today. Hopefully she doesn’t get dumped all over. And now we have Epic Mustache Dude.
Reading about the distinguished Spanish gentleman, Sergio Aragones, depicted in these panels was very interesting and intriguing. Quite an icon. Tiffany arc, showing her being very unselfishly polite and certain of herself. Does this portend go news for her for a change? I like she still is working as a server, supporting herself.
So, on to Tiffany today? That’s nice. I stayed away for a week or so because I get really, REALLY tired of watching G&K beat the same poor old dead horse over and over. What I mean is:
G&K—-“Luann is so stupid. See how stupid Luann is? Luann is just so incredibly stupid. Luann is too stupid for words.”
I’m sure it thrills the hearts of all the Luann haters here to know that G&K’s hatred of Luann far exceeds their own, but I find it incredibly tedious and tiresome, which is why I stayed away. I mean, we get it, OK? G&K hate, detest, and otherwise despise the Luann character. Luann will never be allowed to b anything but their permanent whipping girl/punching bag. I find that extremely pathetic and sad myself, but that’s just me.
The family across the street had four daughters.Hazel ,Emerald (Emmy), Ruby, and Pearl (my third grade teacher *)…I, recently sold the sold the old Family place, after seventy four years…Where I was born… ..that’s where they brought me “home”…from the hospital..Eight miles away..Their spirits still linger in the old neighborhood….Could write a great script for a T.V. series…Nobody seems to Know anything about us kids born in “44”…
The answer to the eternal question of Where Is Pitts Exactly may have been hinted at today.
Sergio Aragones, according to sergioaragones.com, lives and works in Ojai, CA, in Ventura County, northwest of LA.
If he’s a regular at the Fuse (“your usual” and Tiff knows a lot about his family), Ojai must be quite near Pitts. Thus, just as if you have a near-death experience, Death must have a near-you experience (thanks, Terry Pratchett), Pitts must be quite near Ojai.
I have to admit, I have a personal foible about the term “grandbaby”. I hate it. There are already “grandson”, granddaughter" and “grandchild” in the language. Why hickify it?
