If Piro wasn’t comfortable sharing his personal stuff, why did he agree to do the Fair reading with Luann??

I’m surprised Mrs. Horner would pick him to share, at the Fair, if she knew his essay was very personal and embarrassing for him.

Luann’s essay sounds like it will be amusing. I just hope she wasn’t shaving her bikini area when it happened (OUCH!). lol

Luann’s story sounds interesting an no doubt that what she was doing. Piro’s story will tell us about him probably more than we have known so far. I do feel he believes he has a connection with Luann.

“Shaved for a pool party?” Just where was she shaving, and wouldn’t have been more useful?

Boy, once Karen’s name was attached, this strip has driving straight into the gutter. First Dez assumes that Luann is knocking boots with Piro and today Luann is talking about below the belt landscaping. Also I question why Mrs. Horner would pick that story for a public (thank god I remembered the “l”) reading. Further more, when was the last time Luann wore a bikini? During the Quill years she wore one-pieces.

This poor, sensitive Piro schtick is getting old. Man up dude you said you would do it so do it. That’s what a man does.

Their stories might make an impression on the audience, but the two storytellers will still have psychological separation from the audience. Luanne will have to reveal her personal uncomfortable moments in order to be funny. Piro will have to reveal his personal pain to separate himself from it.

“and electrocuted my… self.” Well, GnK. It seems she was about to name a body area that was not underarms or legs. This one goes beyond the sly innuendo. ;-) Yeah, that would be painful for sure.

Now did anyone guess what Luann’s story would be about?

Luann could have written about the time she was having a sleep-over with Bernice and Delta and during a round of “Truth or Dare” Luann took the dare, which was to run down to the corner mail box and back in her bikini! and got rained on and met Aaron and his father and nearly died of humiliation. Now that was a funny story.

An interesting thought would be for the two readers to switch stories and read for each other…

I hope we get to hear the stories. I like Piro so I hope he gets encouragement from hearing Luann tell her funny personal story to not get too hung up on the personal aspect. Who knows it might help out someone listening in the crowd who had similar experiences.

With just one sentence, Luann was able to make Piro smile. Piro, which was scared and nervous about reading his tragic, personal story to an audience, now seems happier than usual. Amazing Luann! Let’s hope hearing her whole story energizes him enough to make him read without a hitch. Maybe Bernice is in the audience and she’ll be moved by his story enough to agree to talk to him, maybe they will go to Nil’s booth after the reading, but I really hope Piro and Bernice will meet. I’m surprised the reading is already this week, I thought it would be the closing act. But with all the possibilities for stories and all the characters in motion, I hope the arc don’t end after this. Can’t wait to read Piro’s story!

Sometimes in life, painful and awkwardness can work if both sides actually balance out in the end…can be a strange yet beautifully rare sight.

Piro will remain a mysterious character, since we will not likely hear anything revealing about his past. Read the book, I guess.

If Luann electrocuted her girl parts, I doubt she’d have agreed to tell the world about it, in person, at a local event. But maybe I’ve overestimated her.

Maybe this could help Piro with his stage fright.

I suppose this having them read their essays in front of an audience is training for if they become authors, they are comfortable going to do a bookstore reading? That’s the only logical reason I can see for creating such an uncomfortable situation for students. Everyone taking a turn reading their work in front of the class wouldn’t have worked, I guess.

Mine is about the time someone gave me a motor from an electric football game. Shocking!

Seeing as Luann’s story is half the prompt Mrs. Horner gave her with “shocking” I’m curious to know how the “family” part will get involved. Did she get shocked by her electric razor and her family had to call the medics in a series of wacky hijinks?

Let me make my contribution before I get too busy. Luann fills the role of straight (wo)man for her own jokes. That is something she does as a main theme, and she can, as the namesake and inspiration for the strip. I think though that with Walt/Piro we’re about to see the most consequential romantic relationship she’s had so far. I think Berb too, but not Piro. Time will tell.
