Here comes Jack!!!

Bernice was enjoying Jack’s naked buffness, Piro. She’s lying! lol

Well, this looks like it’s about to get awkward fast. I bet Nil will be appearing shortly.

It certainly looks like Bernice has a renewed interest in Piro. Will Luann and her end up fighting for Piro?

Are you sure that being Nil’s muse was what was occupying your thoughts and not, “I wish I’d worn contact lenses,” Bernice? Because your musely duties consisted of struggling to stay still and not talk.

I have to give props to Piro for humoring Bernice’s self-proclaimed muse status by asking her, “So, you’re a muse?” as if it’s perfectly normal to unironically run around in bohemian attire proclaiming herself a muse to everybody she knows.

Also, I got a kick out of Piro connecting the dots immediately with “David” meaning Michelangelo’s David and not, I dunno, Bowie, Beckham, Tennant, or Duchovny (or another famous David). I guess Nil’s idea wasn’t exactly as avant-garde as he was convinced it was if a non-art major figured the premise out before having seen the painting.

Bernice just trapped herself between a rock, and a hard place. Jack and Walt.

Ah, don’t worry about Jack, Walt.

He’s largely and strangely indifferent to just about EVERY female in the Strip.

And the moment you meet Bern’s non-intimidating “friend” Nil? You’ll perk right up.

Right in up until you find out that Jack and Nil are pals and that Jack once gave Bern a fish as a “pick me up…….,” ;-)

So who’s on first…

No idea whether Jack was a buff guy? I guess Bernice was too embarrassed to remember all the times her eyes were glued to Jack’s posterior.

This will be some solid Three’s Company awkwardness as all of Bernice’s love interests surround her. Jack’s enthusiasm, Nil’s artsy angsty shrugs, and Piro’s gloomy intellect swirling around Bernice’s hotflashes will hopefully give us a great week.

One disappointment for me is that I hoped and expected that the Spring Fair would be part of a reorganization where the Tiffany plots and Luann plots merge into one narrative. But Tiffany had her story and except for Piro wandering into it it has not carried over into the Luann story. The jumping back and forth between two totally disconnect stories really hurts the strip.

Impressed by Walt asking a lot of questions. So who will show up next. And it is getting kind of awkward fast.

Lots has changed since you’ve been gone Piro. Time to bug out again, its gettin out of your comfort level

This promises to be interesting!

And the love triangle intensifies. Why it’s all bernice centered I don’t know and don’t much care for it.

It may not be totally unbelievable that Bernice failed to notice Jack’s “hunkiness”. She Is in the running for the “most self absorbed character”. Maybe she was too busy with her self importance to remember her past focus on Jack and his bod!

Bernice, you lie as good as you snark. Once upon a time you fantasized about Jack. You NOTICED his physique.

We just need Steph to make appearance…

Perhaps Jack and Piro know each other from “way back”, that would be interesting and they may start chatting and kind of leave Bern and Luann on the outside looking in as they catch up, which would definitely irritate Bernice as she is now the focus of the conversation!

It would be like Stef getting upset at Kip for ignoring her at Kafe Kablooie as he caught up with his old gridiron buddy Oxford!

Love Luann’s expression in the last panel—betcha she’s expecting to witness a battle royale!!

That—or Piro and Jack will pal up and ignore Bernice completely!!

Hooray, Jack is here! I love how rudely Luann completes Bernice’s sentences. She forces her to tell the whole truth and Piro seems to be having a lot of fun with this comedy duo. I wonder how Jack’s arrival will change the situation. Bernice will be unable to stop looking at him with thirsty eyes and this will make it much more difficult for her and Piro to start a romantic relationship, or the great chemistry between him and Luann will convince everybody that there’s something between the two. So Bernice will start to be jealous, leaving a very negative impression on Piro? I hope they are going to Nil’s booth, I want to see his painting!

At first, Bern and Lu both had a crush on Piro’s broody mystery. Now that he’s not a mystery, they’ve quit objectifying him.

Healthy lesson for each of us— get to know someone before forming an opinion or crush.

Wasn’t Luann supposed to be the alter ego for Karen Evans? I think she identifies more with the Bernice chatacter. She consistently portrays Bernice as the most intelligent, desired girl in the college student group.

Bern could have said “…well I didn’t have my glasses on so i wouldn’t know… too much about the buffness…”

Well speak of the David…

Both Bernice and Luann have seen Jack in the nude. Luann smiles with delight. Bernice will have a mental breakdown later on.

Funny that Bern seems to be far ahead in the romance department, in comparison to poor Lu. I hope G+K have something special in store for our “heroine”.

Bernice’s strategy: Impress them with obvious BS! What could possibly go wrong?

Bernice is just feeding off the limelight as she is wont to do…..yawn.

It looks like Luann is acting merely as a traffic cop. She is showing no interest in pursuing a relationship with Piro for herself. Perhaps her strategy is to let the chips fall where they may as Bernice and Piro figure out where they are at this juncture.

Will Bernice and Piro end up together? Magic 8 Ball says “Cannot predict now.”

For someone so literate, Bernice can’t read a room. Yeesh.

Now Bernice shoots herself in the foot? Hoist by her own petard! Moral of the story? Smile and wave gals… Smile and wave!

Luann has diarrhea of the mouth again. She seems to be doing her best to cause problems between Piro and Bern.

Time for a “Pose Off” between Jack and Piro! On the count of three, shirts off and strike a pose.

Sick and tired of perfect Bernice it’s about time someone takes her down or out whatever is easier

Luanne doesn’t seem to like Bernice being potentially successful with Piro, injecting herself when not wanted.

That’s a really quick jump – from Piro being out of touch for months, to him interrogating Bernice about her posing partner. “Some buff guy” sounds kind of condescending. And why did she lie and not admit knowing Jack? Saying she didn’t notice his physique due to intense musing is just not believable. It would be good for Piro to realized that the girl he put on a pedestal is actually just a stuck-up art groupie dressed in a gypsy outfit.

Let’s see an argument between the three boys over who gets Bernice -

Piro – “We watched movies and bonded.”

Jack – “I gave her a fish!”

Nil – “I got to second base.”

Bernice, Luann, Tiffany, and Dez are a bunch of dorky geeks. I hope Steffi comes into the picture and steals Jack, Nil, Piro and gets her boyfriend back from Tif.

Hail, hail, the gang’s all here…almost, for this arc all we need now is Nil. Luann seems to be enjoying this exposé. It seems I was wrong in thinking Piro was just appreciating Bernice’s friendship; maybe he is more serious than I thought. Luann’s dreamy eyes on Jack may be telling? Bernice is still in denial, sheesh.

Now that have a chance to read this in the morning, after I’v quaffed my coffee, looking at Anna Cabrera on MSNBC (used to be on CNN, but MSNBC, luckily, picked her up) eating breakfast) I realize how hilarious this set of panels happens to be. First, the interplay between muse, Bern, and amuse, Lu, and Walt/Piro, with Bern proudly, describing her somewhat sanitized view of being Moma Lisa smiling at a nude David (Jack) with Lu, helpfully, making more realistic the real scene with her repressed friend. Just as Walt/Piro asked the “buff” question, drily, I might add, about “some buff guy” and Bern tries to dismiss it, along comes the buff guy, which of course Lu helpfully notifies everyone. Funny as heck, and what a set-up for the week. Developments await!

No one is mentioning this but now days, maybe Jack and Piro will become a couple?

We Davids have a lot to live up to. Thankfully, most of us are up to it

Jack’s greeting is quite enthusiastic. I wonder who, exactly, he is hailing. All three of them, or maybe he and Piro go way back and…?

Hah. The glasses-less Bernice was trying awfully d*mn hard to NOT look at Jack’s nakedness and NOT look at Jack’s “buff” self during Nil’s painting session….. but I think we all understand that the myopic Bernice did likely at least see a rather blurry image of Jack…. at least for a few nanoseconds. But, Bernice is uncomfortable in stating that she did.

It looks like this is going to be quite another fun and interesting week. It will be interesting to see what sorts of comedy ensues with Jack’s arrival, and probably at some point this week, the group will join Nil at his exhibit or Nil will come over to the group. While I cannot prognosticate on what will transpire, I feel confident enough to predict some of the story will involve:

1. Some form of uncomfortable feelings for Bernice….. with the likely interplay of Piro and Nil this week, Bernice will in some way be uncomfortable. Likely folks who may inadvertently or accidentally say something to Piro and Nil would be either Jack or Luann.

2. A small chance for some potentially uncomfortable feelings for Luann could arise as well….. possibly because of Piro and Jack together here. Luann has a current interest in Piro….. and she had (has?) an interest in Jack for a while too…. even though Jack was seemingly oblivious to this (or was he?).

This should be quite an interesting story week!

I am so glad that Greg has not introduced the subject of eating disorders amongst his characters.

Bernice seems like a nice girl to the clueless, troubled Piro.

How come writers do absolutely nothing for Luann? How much more undue attention will Bernice get?!

Going around and telling everyone you’re “a muse” just seems strange to me.

Why is Bern the focus of this strip? And to have 3 guys’ stories orbit around her? Ludicrous. Though Jack seems not at all interested in her. Please, grow these people up. I have always been rooting for Luann and Jack.

Waiting for Ox and Nil and Brad so we can have a poker game for Neanderthals.

Luann’s running[-off-at-the-mouth] commentary is just adding fuel to the coming fire.
