Bernice left out that Luann was making bad puns the whole night, as well. It was a disaster!

I think it’s safe to say that Piro isn’t really interested in Luann romantically, and that’s why Luann is acting pi$$y.

Luann is rightly disconcerted. It’s great that Bernice is there to “help” her work that hot mess out.

Sloppy as well, having a hard time to comment, nothing much is happening the last few strips. Not bad, but not grabbing one’s interest.

Lucky they aren’t having cornflakes, because Luann just….wait, those are technically cornflakes.

I’m glad that cousin love fest is over. Also Luann’s pathetic attempt to make herself relevant with lame attempts at humor. Maybe these two can come up with some sort of plot advancement; personal or otherwise! 8^ \

She’s probably pissy (surprised that the funny papers let that word slip through lol) because she knows that her old buddy Bernice is judging her as usual…

So, Piro and Tara left and nothing about the assignment was accomplished? Tara and Piro make a better couple than Luann and Piro. He has too much baggage.

There is more than one fish in the sea Luann. If Walt is not interested in you as anything more than a friend then it is time to quit brooding on it. If Luann cannot move on she should take her angst and put it into a really creative essay for Mrs H’s class.

Because Tara was there and acting like a third wheel.

And why has there been no talk about the writing assignment. I guess I’m too literal-minded for this strip because when they say they are going to have a study session for a writing assignment I sort of expect a study session, not bragging about how reckless one has been.

Quill called Luann “pissy” and they never saw each other again. Could that happen this time, too?

For someone who purports to be so smart, Bern can be quite obtuse!

I don’t care about the word prissy, it’s funny. It’s a word someone pike Bern might use with her BFF to describe how she understands Lu is disturbed by how Tara interacts with her cousin. I’m not sure Walt/Piro even weird. Kinda subtle actually. Not like the boring nebbish, Aaron Hill

I’m truly amazed at the level of indifference Bernice has towards Piro. She was sincere when she said she wasn’t interested in him? She probably didn’t even go to say hello when he arrived… So, more than just not interested, she’s avoiding him as much as she can?! Luann seems genuinely annoyed by Tara’s presence. It’s easy to understand why, but I hope the two don’t end up fighting about it. I would prefer them to speak frankly, maybe finally Piro will decides to tell his tragic past to them. I love the annoyed rudeness with which Luann prepares the snack for her friends. The way she opens the bag with her teeth. Luann has an exceptional mimics that no other character has in the strip.

Gee.

Between Tiffany mooning over someone else’s b/f, Gunther’s M.I.A. “girlfriend,” Bets, Lu’s “pining for Pyro,” and whatever is going on (if ANYTHING) between Bernice and Nil, there AIN’T a Whole Lotta Love going on among the UNMARRIED Young Adults in this Strip.

I mean, these kids got more “action” in Junior High. ;-)

My “Bets & Gun” book came yesterday. For some strange reason, Greg & Karen sent me two of them..

Geez, the language and suggestive nature lately! I’ve taught high school kids and I wouldn’t say pissy in front of them. I’m by no means a prude, but I don’t love the direction this daily comic strip is taking.

And who declared that YOU are a prosecuting attorney, Bernice?

Define “lately”.

Yeah that was depressing Luann, but really Piro isn’t much of a catch. He seems like a lot of work. Never mistake “clinically depressed” for “strong and silent”.

Luann, maybe you should try finding someone else. Piro is way out of your league.

Everyone assumes they have left. Luann could be getting the stuff to bring in the other room. Bernice could be staying out of it. Before anyone says that Bernice is speaking in the past tense, it would apply in either case. Either they came and left, or they are still there.

Possible character development? Luann might not be romantically interested in either Piro or Tara but just didn’t appreciate hosting a study session where nothing gets done beyond them talking about ways she is an outlier in the small group. Maybe like Gunther she will have to think about who she is and what that means for her future? Maybe if Gunther likes stable and predictable he needs to admit that to himself and others he might pair up with (or even have as close friends)? Maybe if Bets likes taking risks and living one day at a time fully exposed online then she needs to find people who also value that instead of lecturing her to change? As youthful characters part of their mission is to figure out what makes them who they are. Luann seems to struggle with that more than the rest – unsure who she is or what she wants to be – fairly common for people who go to college because “everyone goes to college” not to chase a passion.

Maybe Tara is a military recruiter? How else can she pay tuition, be poor, and offer opportunities to do expensive activities like jumping out of planes? If you want to risk your life without paying top dollar, and get help with tuition, maybe joining some high risk military venture helps?

Not being “pissy.” Say the young woman who doesn’t seem to be able to get the the salsa, and/or chips in the bowls.

So…Why is Piro interested in his cousin? Creepy!

WTH is that hideous looking BLACK STUFF?? Is it supposed to be salsa to go with the chips?? It looks like the dinner Irma prepared for Gunther and Bets. Do you not have the color red in your crayon box? Note to G&K – never a good look to have food stuff colored BLACK! Sheesh!

She’s not pissy. She’s not self-aware either.

His cousin was trying hard to keep his attention on her and away from Luann.

It’s odd that the even characters like Bernice are implied to think Tara and Piro are implied lovers. I was hoping for Tara to just be a supportive cousin. Having the characters insinuate and hint that it’s more is a deliberate choice to make their relationship look weird.

Mrs Horner assigned writing an imaginative story. Luann imagined getting to know Piro better. It ain’t t working.

I take it the tandem dive is off

I received the ‘Bets and Gun’ “book” and read it last night. Was a fun read but not worth the money; should’ve been half the cost. They didn’t break up but are taking a break from one another for a while. No big surprises or profound happenings.

I’m not she says pouring the chips on top of the dip instead of in the bowl.

Oh look at that, nothing ended up happening between Luann and Piro. Whoever could have seen that coming?

And no Luann-based arc is complete without Bernice showing up to offer her unsolicited advice about the situation.

It’s wise of Berniece to not intrude on this so called “study session”. And it shows that she’s truly not interested in Piro at this point.

So, is Luann getting snacks for during the ongoing study session….. or is she getting herself a snack after they (Piro and Tara) left? Her messy food could have different implications depending on which is the current state of affairs.

Tara IMO was acting as a “chaperone” of sorts…. for some reason she wants to “protect” both Piro and Luann from getting together because she (rightly or wrongly) fears one or both of them will get hurt.

Okay Bern let me know the next time you invite anyone over to get to know them better. I’ll invite myself alone and undermine your every effort, talk over you and imply that your presence isn’t needed in your own home … OH YEAH , you don’t have one! The same tone and attitude that Luann would NEVER take with Bernice if the tables were turned.

Please don’t make me mad. You wouldn’t like me if I was mad.

This is the first time I remember seeing the word “pissy” in the comics. This is obviously a major milestone. Or something…

Sorry, Luann. Piro just isn’t into you and doesn’t mind his cousin coming along. I suspect he is relieved – he is probably one of those guys who are intimidated by aggressive girls and views you to be those girls and takes comfort in using Tara as a buffer.

While I think it would be interesting to have Luann and Piro explore the potential of being a couple…… depending on Piro’s history….. and depending upon Luann’s level of naïveté……. the mix of those two together COULD be good….. but also COULD be a disaster.

It is my opinion that Tara’s recent behaviors reflect how SHE feels a Luann-Piro pairing would go….. I suspect she thinks it would be damaging to Piro or damaging to Luann or damaging to both of them.

My read on this also has me thinking this is more of a subconscious action on Tara’s part. She typically has not shown a lot of what could be called “empathy” before….. but at a subconscious level this could be a viable explanation.

Interesting. I offered an opinion on the content (like everyone else here), and folks sprung into action to defend characters who don’t exist in real life in a comic strip they (presumably) don’t write or draw. It’s just an opinion. It’s just a comic strip.
