Looks like Gunther can tell shes using TV show binging as an escape mechanism.

I think they need to decide what is the best way forward. Bets didn’t need to kill her channel, she needed to tone done the frequency of posting and make it less obtrusive in their lives. Streaming Comic Cons and stuff like that was fine.

Turning into what many of us did at the ramp up of COVID.

Yeah, hard pass again this week.

No, the social media took over her life, and Gunther was collateral damage.

Building a new relationship paradigm is going to tax them both!

Bets is a video addict?

A need to spend more and more time playing video media to get the same level of enjoyment.

Bets has no life beyond the computer it seems like.

Gunther is showing that he has more awareness of what is happening than Bets does. I hope Bets will open up and get to the bottom of what is going on with her.

It seems to me that Gunther is unsure about the new Bets.

There’s no fooling Gunther, Bets. Time for honesty. You miss your old life.

When you choose the eliminate something negative from your life, it is best to replace it with something positive.

What are they doing? Not much it looks like.

Gun, my man how are you going to watch that many episodes.

When you are a creator with an active mind who can’t create anymore for whatever reason, you binge just to keep from going crazy. I speak from personal experience.

its like she is suffering withdrawal from an addiction. so shes trying to fill up her time to compensate for going cold turkey. she probably needs to see a therapist.

Bets should just get a flip phone and move to whichever coast is furthest from wherever she is now.

I sense a break up. But I could be wrong.

Is this the beginning of the end? Is Gunther feeling like they are wasting their time, or that he is wasting his time?

The answer to Gunther’s question is simply that Bets is grasping at an activity that they can share together, cuddling together and possibly even talking about the innocuous content of the shows they watch. It’s an activity that isn’t challenging, personally threating, or particularly controversial. It’s a means of just “being together”.

I never knew those were the actual words to ‘All Along The Watchtower’.

Both Gun and Dez know something is wrong. Bets is going to have to come clean about what is going on inside her.

I could watch THE GOLDEN GIRLS or LAW & ORDER: SVU over and over, ad nauseum!! LOL

In Peanuts, Linus has his security blanket. In Luann, Bets has the same thing with Gunther. And, for Gunther, Bets is an enhanced friend, providing companionship, a kookie imagination, and sex.

She’s going through Withdrawal.

I hope this is leading to a permanent breakup. They have tried it both ways – now move on – no more Betsy please.

Gun needs to binge, er bring up the tough questions now, before it’s too late.

Okay, three takeaways here:

1) Gunther is slowly but surely starting to CAVE.

2) Bets is STILL calling the shots.

3) Battlestar Galatica? Dr. Who?? SHEESH! And vigorous use of the privacy hut is not even an option??

Recommendations:

1) Gunther? Suggest Bets return to social media.

2) Quietly Renew ties with your long time “lady friends” and make NEW ONES. ;-)

Good geek research here. “All Along the Watchtower” playing at the end of BSG ( 76 expisode at 45 mins each!!!) and Gunther knowing exactly how many episode of Doctor Who is a breaking point haha.

Bets is going 180 and not able to find the balance. This is such a late-teens/young adult thing. This why this strip is so good sometimes.

They should think about having sex, we don’t need to watch.

Some of you may know I took a fall back in December and crushed my kneecap. I’m gonna be okay but right now there’s very little I can do for myself. My husband has been great but it really hurts me that I’m so helpless right now. So, like Bets, I’ve been using TV to escape. Right now we are rewatching LOTR. Fortunately I’m coming around a lot better these days but if I hadn’t had the support of good friends and my husband to talk through this it might have been very different.

Talk to Gunther, Bets. Tell him how you feel. Tell him how the fans were your family and how your sense of self has become lost.

Bets has given up a lot and gunther didn’t even ask her to.

I knew Gunther would be the one who would miss their previous life the most! He don’t like seeing Bets spending her days lazing around. He fell in love with the girl who never sat still, who had big plans for the future and dragged him into her life making him do things he would never have done. Not of a Bets who passively watches their favorite series without the enthusiasm she had before, without the desire to do cosplay or talk about a show for hours with him or with other fans. I’m sure Gunther misses the fun he had making cosplays for himself and Bets and their podcasts.

Gunther is having a difficult time detecting a “we” in this.

He’s memorized how many episodes there are in every series?

Probably after episode 71, Gunther will urge Bets to revive “BetsnGun”.

Except she didn’t really quit social media. In yesterdays strip, she said she posted 8 times to social media between being seated at the restaurant and the waiter coming to take their orders.

Here’s an idea. Get an education. Learn some skills and get a REAL job being productive by providing either meaningful goods or services that help other people also be productive.

Good news! Some Dr Who episodes are lost forever so you save a bit of time.

Delaying the inevitable?

To be fair, there are worse shows.

Knowing Gunthie’s success with relationships, I’d say it’s heading for another breakup.

If Bets truly wants to stay off social media they should both take up running or another form of exercise they can do together, or volunteer someplace like the local zoo or animal shelter. Binging on tv shows day in and day out is not healthy. Or, get back on social media but instead of just documenting they are both doing they need to find a focus subject and stick to that

Actually there isn’t anything wrong with that, anymore than some people can rattle of sports statistics like reading a shopping list.

Is this now a soap opera style strip? It has had long story arcs for a long time. But occasionally, some humor popped up. As it is now, no need to wonder what will happen to Luann. She will become the new Mary Worth!

Bets trying to live her life vicariously binge-watching scifi television programs. She needs to break out of that mold and forge a new life with new life experiences, preferable with Gunther.

The word is “vegetating”.

Just be thankful if she never starts to drink!

I think Bets truly believes she’s doing what Gun wants; maybe when she discovers otherwise, she’ll turn herself around.
