Nancy does have a point, But some actress look older than they look.

Jane is an excellent actress. It would probably be wise, though, to point out that his wife has grown more beautiful with every day unless he wants to be in the doghouse.

Why did they choose of all people Jane Fonda who is a traitor to this Country.

Plastic surgery has something to do with it…

Like many of us guys, Frank can and will sometimes “tune out” idle nattering and chattering. It can help with “sanity”. :)

Once Luann mentioned an old VCR “workout video” to Nancy…. I am almost positive Frank’s mind drifted away…. into his imagination…. to think about something more interesting…. like his dream car…. or a meal he would like to be eating…. or hell, wondering how long it would take for paint to dry.

He IS going to be getting into a helluva lot of trouble….. NOT because he doesn’t think his wife is gorgeous….. he does think/know that she is. He will ultimately be in trouble because he was oblivious to the discussion at hand and did not catch the context cues. :)

Why don’t the DeGroots, and indeed most of America, clean out that useless junk in their garages and and start using them again for what they were intended? That is PARKING THEIR CAR?

Well that went quickly off the rails.

Suzanne Somers had a workout video around the same time. A lot of boys became men thanks to those videos, and more than a few girls realized something about themselves as well.

Frank probably did not even hear what Nancy said. Most men would not be listening to 2 women talking a few feet away. My husband is like Alexa. I have to say his name before he starts listening.

So, what’s your take on Nixon, Regan, Bush1, Bush2 and orange hair? All committed acts of treason. Nixon cutting a deal with Hanoi not to sign a treaty to end the war so he could get elected. Regan and Bush1 for Iran not to release the hostages before November to get elected. Bush2 to attack Iraq so he would get reelected as a wartime president. Orange hair with his Jan 6 attack to stay in office.

She apologized and admitted she was wrong, none of these traitors ever did.

Still have problems with “Hanoi Jane”. It was before my time but that level of disrespect to men who did NOT want to be there but had no choice.

Let’s not forget the other actresses who were in “80 for Brady” who are still plugging on as well like Sally Field (all three of her shows will be the subject of next weekend’s Catchy Comedy Catchy Binge), Lily Tomlin and Rita Moreno (one of few EGOT actors out there), or the great careers Henry, Peter and Bridget Fonda had themselves (I especially like Bridget’s performance in “Single White Female”).

Also, an ancestor of the Fonda family established Fonda NY, close to where I am.

I have to wonder if the writer/artist of LuAnn is too young to remember what Jane did to our country and our servicemen during Vietnam. She is a traitor and should not be honored in any way.

It would be nice to check in with Brad and Toni.

I’m going to resist the obvious political lob, other than to say I respect Jane Fonda immensely, and what too many of my fellow “Mericans” misunderstand that it is the soul of democracy to criticize it while supporting it. Sixty thousand Americans died figthing in a war where years later you can stay at the Grand Hyatt in Hanoi. Those who resisted against it were patriots as well. Democracy works that way. Anyway, Nancy is clearly still “hot” but Frank does what husbands do, causing Lu to question it. He know’s what he’s got and does not have to do a show ahd tell. Enjoy SuperBowl Sunday, Love and Honor to all verterans for their service, particularly those who gave their lives for America and respect those who exercised their rights as citizens of the greatest country in history to protest what they saw as wrong. That is what we fight/fought for, honor it, understand it, thank God for it, don’t hate on it.

I saw Jane Fonda in the second Bookclub movie last week. She looks like too much surgery to me. And, BTW, don’t bother with the movie.

Aside from Jane Fonda, I’m perplexed as to why they have a hot water heater in their garage (looks like a garage door that disappeared after panel one). That seems to be a recipe for frozen pipes in most of the country.

No question about that for some but not all….

All this anger against Jane and none towards ‘Heel spurs’ Trump for dodging the draft?If his daddy wasn’t rich enough to buy his way out of it, he’d be Canadian today.

Luann’s mom looks pretty hot, tbh.

Jane Fonda’s extracurricular activities aside for the moment, her father Henry’s lifelong accolades always seemed a bit of a mystery to me. He was so low key on The Smith Family that he made Brian Keith on Family Affair look like a nervous wreck in comparison. And at the risk of howls of indignation from the half dozen or so here who might actually get these references, I absolutely LOVED the closing scenes of Easy Rider. A perfect ending! ;-)

Frank, if you value your life, better pick up on this clue, and, compliment Nancy’s looks.

He blew it, BIG-TIME!!!

Oh My Gosh! People, have you missed the symbolism of all this? 1) The dvd is discarded, an irrelevant relic. Luanne doesn’t even know about why it would be there.

2) To moms of an indeterminate age it symbolizes the frantic need to be slender to be attractive, and the sweat and effort it took to achieve that. (That era spawned ridiculois shiny spandex gym-wear btw.) To young Nancy, it represented trying to keep an unrealistic youthful figure after two kids. (Diet pills and Ozempic weren’t in the picture for her.)

3) To mature moms the discarded dvd symbolizes accepence of self, either by acceptance of the limits of available time as working mom or acceptance of themselves in changing bodies. To Nancy it probably reflects security in her family and work life, being loved and respected by those that matter.

4) To older men, it reflects an obliviousness to the lengths women went to for “beauty”.To Frank specifically, the above plus his reflex association with that name: a nostalgic memory of a B movie plus obligatory wall posters in boys’ bedrooms of a lucious babe in a fur bikini, kneeling, legs slightly spread.

5) Modern Nancy is aware of the Oscar awards, the Netflix series, the recent movies with a septuagenarian babe who still looks hot. It reminds her that she is more than a mom, housekeeper and businesswoman. She’s still hot too!

6) The discarded dusty dvd is a reminder of the passage of time: bodies decline while minds and characters flourish (except maybe Frank’s).

7) And to those hung up on the politics, who will never watch an old movie if it aired on the Turner Network, channel your anger to modern equivalent situations and really look at what this little Sunday comic strip is saying. Or just enjoy it.

May you all be as comfortable in your mature selves as Nancy, and may you all have strut-your-stuff moments where you still know you’re hot tamales.

I know those of you who hate Jane Fonda won’t read or consider any of this, but I’m still going to say it:

Greg Evans included her in today’s strip because, as a few others have already pointed out, her exercise tapes are the best-known around. I did some of the exercises and have enjoyed her in Nine to Five. As an American citizen, she was well within her rights to protest a war that so many other people were against; she had plenty of company. Furthermore, what you’re accusing her of doing have been proven to be lies. LIES.

In addition, Greg and Karen Evans are Americans, too, and they have every right to mention whoever they want in their strips. His intention was not to make this strip political. Any politics you see here are coming entirely from your own minds. So if you don’t like what they have to say, you’re more than welcome to never read this strip again. No one forced you to read it and no one told you to say what you’re saying.

And finally, calling for Jane’s death because of a protest she did is very cruel and inappropriate. The comments say nothing about her but everything about you—and it’s ugly. If your comments are doing anything, they’re revealing you for the people you really are.

Someone wrote a while back that Nancy was the “second hottest woman in the strip” (I don’t like the description “hot” as used here, so I’d like to amend this to say “second most attractive”). I’ll have to agree, in fact I’ll have to add that it is a close second. She certainly outshines her daughter and any of her daughter’s friends

Henry Fonda could be a bit of a puzzle as a man.When Jane and Peter were growing up, theirbirth Mom was a suicide.

Then Henry married some phony-baloney European Countess(an Ann Eiffel type) who everybody warned him off.And they were right.

Jane and Pete were grown up by the time he married the wonderful woman who was his widow.

Also,Fonda was an ill man the last few years—-heart trouble and a pacemaker that kept quitting.
