Google tells me that Kyorin University in Tokyo did a study that found ice cream for breakfast can improve alertness, relieve stress and boost mental performance – but it needs to be low sugar and you can’t do it every day. Ice cream on waffles can be good…
How about dumping the brat on your sister for the month, Brad? Just imagine if she had tagged along on Luann and Bernice’s romantic “excursion” last week!
Shannon didn’t say exactly where her ice cream fell… Probably on the carpet in the living room. Also notice that Brad and Toni do not have a dishwasher, it seems.
Nice, I’m curious to see how they’re doing with Shannon full time. it’s weird that Brad gave the dessert to her right before lunch and I hope he doesn’t give her another ice cream. But, on the other hand, it’s a Very Good thing Shannon is asking saying “Please” and has stopped ordering with an angry expression like she used to do. She’s growing.
Waffles, ice cream, mini pizzas. Sounds like the only way my son would eat when he was that age. In fact, his four food groupswere: Bread/pasta, cheese, tomato sauce, and dessert. What he didn’t know was that I would blend all kinds of veggies into the sauces he held so dearly. Gotta get em in the picky eaters somehow.
It appears I lost my bet and owe someone a nickel. Bernice and Luann never went back to retrieve a forgotten/lost item to meet the guys back at their picnic spot. Please raise your hand if you took my bet. I know at least I owe someone a half-penny. Rats.
Random thought: I look forward to Shannon becoming school aged, marching off to pre-K, and deciding she wants a boyfriend just like Uncle Brad. Except she finds some mild-mannered kid and totally bosses him around, then wonders why he won’t talk to her.
Mini pizzas?? Plural?? How many is he cooking for her?? How much food do they think a child that age needs before noon?? For someone who wants to be a dad, Brad is sure proving that he has no regard for Shannon’s health…or her teeth. Maybe her behavior problems are directly related to her diet.
I’m noticing a lot of silence from the previous arc’s “just let it play out; something’s bound to happen” crowd. Guess they don’t want to draw attention to the fact that Bernice and Luann ended up right back where they started yet again, nor to their own failed prediction that this time might be different. Maybe they’ll come back in a couple days claiming that this current arc is the one that will finally lead to Brad and Toni adoptiong Shannon full-time.
What makes G&K think Shannon is interesting? Also, why is Luann being written to make her look more and more like a ditz? More thought has to go into the writing.
One of the things I like about this strip is that, after raising 2 boys of my own and helping with 3 girls who legally belonged to friends but were often in my house, it’s very realistic in a generally positive and often surprising way. It’s great watching the develpment of a wide variety of characters, some of whom (Tiffany comes to mind at the very least) are turning out to be far better people than I ever would have imagined possible. Far from perfect, but….Having said that I am also frequently amazed at the comments, especially those that seem to be from people who don’t have a clue what raising children is or should be like. Not a big deal, just surprising. And a word for those who don’t like specific story lines. I would respectfully suggest you might consider doing the same thing I do under those circumstances. Like anything published, if you don’t like it, don’t read it. Some of us do enjoy it and if you don’t that’s your business, and possibly your loss.
I was so excited, just moved to Columbus Ohio and checked out their Sunday newspaper and they print the complete Luann comic with the title block!!! I wish I could post it here but no way to post images. I’ve always appreciated the title block for that extra humor to coincide with the strip and I’ve asked so many times through emailing Greg if they would include them (other comics do) but still no luck except for that brief run on classic Luann which once they turned black and white they stopped and then stopped the Sundays completely there!Anyway the newspaper is the Columbus dispatch if anyone is wanting to see them and also if there’s a way to find it. If anyone has another way to see the title blocks I would love to know so I can see the old comics

See you in September.

Shannon should be old enough by now to handle ice cream on a stick. She may learn quickly if she doesn’t get a replacement.

Alright, everybody it’s Shannon time! I thought about this and I want to make this arc fun so let’s make some bets! What do you think will happen:
-Shannon would get hurt during her stay, causing Jonah to rush home and actually care about his daughter?
-Toni and Brad will have to legally adopt Shannon because Jonah will finally go to the store in LA for that specialty milk?
-Toni finally gets pregnant after dealing with Shannon makes her swear off of children?
Leave your thoughts in the comments.
