Those faces in the last panel, makes me think both are ready to start a family. Disappointed they are.

Voice acting from home? Is that really a thing?

Well, that’s an unexpected turn of events. Both for the characters and for us readers.

If he’s voice acting then he won’t be able to watch the child as well. So unless his work is strictly in school hours and term time, Brad and Toni will have to step up as before…and take their annual leave/rearrange their shifts/cancel their activities as before…

The way he talks about her reminds me of a video where a fisherman in a kayak rescued a six year old boy floating in a river, water temp 34F and when then located his Dad he showed very little concern!

Certainly, a friend of mine used to go into the studio every day, moved to Florida and goes into his spare bedroom every day. Another friend does voice work on the road from his hotel rooms, (he’s a standup comedian) did part of his stuff for a major animated movie from his room on the road.

Poor Shannon, she can hear her dad asking if she was a pain, and calling her an imp. No wonder she acts out. All you people who complained about Shannon should direct your hostility to Jonah.

They will need to make an imp of their own.

Brad and Toni have so grown fond of Shannon, that it’s gonna be hard to let her go.

Again, quit jabbering and look at what Shannon made for you!

The little kid is showing some manners and appreciation.

Nice, Jonah finally has the stability he was lacking and now he’ll be able to looks after his daughter. I hope this work lasts, but I don’t think that means he will never ask his sister to look after Shannon again. I love seeing how sad Toni and Brad are at the thought of not having to look after Shannon anymore. They like having that imp around.

they actually sound sad that they don’t get to watch her anymore? in someway, it’s not surprising. You do get attached to them. :J

I think Shannon herself will want time with Brad and Toni after a while of 24/7 with Dad.

IMP?! I resemble that remark!

Obviously Brad and Toni are conflicted. On one hand, they’re glad Jonah got this potentially great gig that he can do from home, and, take care of Shannon. On the other, they’ll miss taking care of Shannon.An obvious solution is that’s time for them to have one of their own. But as much as Toni liked playing mother to Shannon, is she ready to take that big step?

Cue up the Boston tune, in the last panel; “we’re ready.” B&T’s disappointment shows that they enjoyed the parenting experience, and could be ready to make one of their own. Our visitations with Shannon shall likely decrease for the near term. It will be interesting to see how she is age-progressed. Perhaps she will reach the early teens in time to babysit B&T’s kid, who just might be a flower/ring kid at Luann’s wedding to…Gunther. Gotta stay consistent with my long-term predictions.

I think the incident in the park had an effect on Shannon; she witnessed first hand another kid’s parent who was aggressive and abrasive (“not nice”), and somehow she came to realize that however imperfect her situation was, the people around her trying to raise her are caring gentle people. Jonah may not be the perfect parent but he loves her and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Brad & Toni (and TJ and Nancy) have stepped in; everyone is moving up the learning curve. i think Shannon realizes that she has “nice” people around her.

Well, that’s a “Delightful” plot twist. Let’s see where it goes?

This is stupendous news. Jonah actually will have the time to raise his own child!

Maybe instead of having a baby, Toni and Brad will consider adoption of an older child.

There has to be more disgust here about him calling his daughter an imp. Even if Shannon hasn’t been a perfect little girl she deserves much better.

I missed the back-story. Who is Shannon’s biological mother? Why isn’t she involved in the child’s life?

Shannon can be a little imp at times. But it still seems a little harsh coming from her father.

No more…til he loses the job…next week. Jonah is a deadbeat dad.

And it’s only Tuesday - how to fill out the week? Yet more pre-parental discussions by B&T? Or will Jonah and Shannon actually take up several more strips before they are out the door?

Wow, nothing can stop the Jonah haters! I guess he fills the role of villain for some readers who miss She Who Must Not Be Named. Not a very good villain, IMO.

FINALLY!

Voice acting gigs from home can be done at hours of your own choosing. I know of one voice actor who worked from her home studio because she had kids and wanted to be there, while the main voice studio was in Vancouver. She could do 3 – 5 episodes a day, if not more, as well as other gigs besides her main show.

About time. And realistically, it’s not like they’d never see Shannon again.

Disappointment rather than relief.

Oh for crying out loud! Is there nothing Jonah is not criticized for? He calls his daughter an imp and people act like he should have CPS called on him.

Let me point this out. Jonah became a father at a very young age. And he had to be a single father because babymama skipped out and left him holding the bag, diaper bag actually. He may not win father of the year, but as least he’s trying. He made the choice to keep the baby and raise her at an age when most guys biggest worries are passing the SATs. And he must be doing something right because his daughter adores him.

Shannon seems to be developing into a bit of a graphic artist, or at least a cartoonist ! ;-)
