Had it been a spider, my wife would have cleared the pool by ten feet or more. Screaming all the way…

My wife would have gone for the ocean rather than some rinky-dink pool.

If that happened to me (a Japanese beetle on my knee), my biggest danger would be if I grabbed my phone to take a picture of it and lost control of the mower.

(Japanese beetles are colorful and iridescent. I haven’t seen one in years, and I’d love to have the good close-up feature on my phone to get a good picture).

Just because something has more than 4 limbs and isn’t fluffy doesn’t mean it’s cause to panic! They say that before long, we’ll be EATING things like beetles.

I flicked one off my leg last Saturday while gardening. Insects is why I usually garden in long pants so that I do not even feel them, but I was wearing shorts because I was out and about before getting home and deciding I could do a little gardening before dinner.

I used to use a John Deere all by myself, and if I had done something stupid like this, I would have had to fix the problem, too. I remember changing the battery myself, out in the middle of the yard. Ditto a tire. Now I live in a condo and just cringe at the lawn work that gets done (or not), and I have learned to ignore it, since I don’t have to do it.

I used to mow a couple acre lawn with a big riding mower with zero turn and stick control. When mowing, all the bug critters would flee and fly away, and a flock of swallows would follow me around and take advantage of the easy pickin’s.

A woman comes into the house and tells her husband the car won’t start; She says she thinks there is water in the carburetor. Her husband says you don’t know anything about cars, what makes you think that there is water in the carburetor? She says it is in the pool.
