me too, i had a boss years ago when i was working for BK no one in the place liked her but only one person, she’d walk up to you and say what are you doing? even if you were busy doing something. i hated her to the point that when i found out later she had cancer i could not feel sorry for her and i normally never say that about anyone who has it.
you might as well say i had Anne Eiffel for a boss cause that was her to a T. only difference was she wasn’t running a scan like Anne here when she was a boss a few years back.
Who’d’a thunk? All the discussion over the years of taking down Ann Eiffel, the candidates have been primarily Tiffany, with help from Dez or Les, maybe a rematch with TJ or Ox. Who’d have thought Nancy would get to do the honors. Don’t let us down, Nancy. Don’t let us down.
Hey Ann, respect is earned not given. If you want respect, you gotta give it first, which to this point- you haven’t displayed any. Employees are human beings, not robots or your slaves, they deserve the same respect you would want for yourself. If you want to be treated like a human being, trying acting like one first.
I’ve always liked Nancy more than a lot of other characters in this strip, and today shows why. I really hope it ends with her giving Ann the boot from the Fuse and the strip altogether. Ann needs to go.
As I predicted, although as my poster flyboy said, Greg runs a shell game in his strip. This shell game is not going to be on who wins, but how the “win” is going to happen. Unless Ann does something like use physical response, which would be deadly wrong for her, this should be a really cool mind trip. Tiffany and the others are going to see how this is done.
I’m wondering. Last we saw, Les was at work, which is there. Does he not hear the commotion and will he at least peek to see what’s going on? Unless he doesn’t want “Mamma” to know he’s there.
So Ann had to take a punch. How will she handle it? Hopefully Ann’s already picked up that further nastiness will cost her more cred. And getting up and storming out will make her look like a loser. Ann might try her croc tears and say something like she has a son and a future daughter there who won’t speak to her. Nancy could return the serve with a line like, “I’m so sorry – would you still like dinner here, or should we wrap it to go?”
I still wonder what if anything Ann has to gain from being this outwardly b*tchy. It just seems so out of character for someone usually so calculated. Does she have something to gain from being kicked out of The Fuse or is it just lazy writing to have a reason why she can no longer harass Tiffany at work?
Well, don’t jump to conclusions about Nancy being the girl in this battle against the evil. Remember Tiffany came strong initially in her battle with Ann and then lost horribly. Ann is not intimidated easily. She won’t walk back from Nancy. She will look for her weakness and go after it. Tiffany’s weakness was her ego. She went to Ann thinking she had a trump card but Ann pulled a fast one on her. She will again with Nancy. She is a pro. Only Les can help Nancy win. He knows his mother and her weaknesses. He will go against her. I doubt Al Gray, if he happens by, would lift a finger. I suspect he is afraid of his sister.
The caricature of Ann is rather interesting/humorous. Has she indeed gotten away with this behavior for so long? Ann will be kicked out in the day or so and Frank will no doubt berate Nancy for her actions citing “inexperience”, because um Frank.
It’s fun watching how Nancy doesn’t take any guff from Ann, but I don’t see Ann’s real undoing coming until Tom gets wise to her. One result of the current interaction could be that when Tiffany vents about Ann to Nancy, Nancy will be inclined to believe her. Anyway, I’ll now go out on a limb with a four-part prediction about Ann, Tiff, and Tom.
(1) Events will eventually unfold in a way that puts Tom wise to Ann’s true nature.
(2) It will happen in time to keep Ann from getting Tom to the altar.
(3) It won’t happen until after Tiff achieves more growth. And, no, I don’t mean physically.
(4) After Ann’s departure, Tom and Tiff’s father-daughter relationship will be stronger than before her arrival. (Even an ill wind can indirectly blow some good.)
Re (3): I’m not specifically predicting that Tiffany’s maturation will enable her give Ann a comeuppance. It’s just that the desire to be out from under Ann’s thumb is a source of motivation for Tiff and I don’t think the writers are ready to remove that motivation quite yet. And, yes, of course I realize that we’ve seen Tiffany be capable of backsliding even with the specter of Ann in the background.
Is Frank still sitting at the bar drinking his hot toddy? TJ is still working on the inventory list? Is Tiffany still hiding out? Is Leslie Knox still washing dishes? Who knows that Thursday, Friday and Saturday will bring?
Only G&K knows! Maybe another story plot disappointment and the witch will fly off to do battle again.
Yes, A real and experienced snake handler and not a snake charmer. You can’t always charm a snake and not expect to get fatally bit. Handling a snake is the only way to help everyone’s safety.
I wonder if Nancy would get as much sympathy if this was a random customer with a complaint rather than a character who has been long presented as a vile human being (though Nancy does not seem aware who Anne is).
Once again we are faced with decadal amnesia. We are faced with the proposition that neither Ox nor TJ remember Awful Annie from their Weenie World encounters and vise versa.
I think Nancy should stay professional… not sink to bad behavior even when talking with Ann… This is her business and customers like Ann always have lawyers on speed dial. You can ask someone to leave without invading their space. Why jeopardize your financial investment over foolishness
ann only understands one type of leadership, the brutal sort that has no respect generated. I’m told my style is avuncular. so when i am angry it carrys a lot more umph because it’s a break from normal so must be important.
Speaking of Voila, quite a few years ago, the company I worked for merged with another and we moved into their building and the two systems were also merged. On the day that we all had to do the onsystem training, the computer would quiz us as we went through the steps, and when we got the correct answer, it would reply, “voila!” After a few of these had transpired, one of the trainees named Debbie shouted out, “ This computer keeps calling me Viola!” We all cracked up…
Ann Eiffel has been a consistently seductive character in Greg’s world. It started with jealousy over the relationship between Bernice and Zane at Borderline Books. She was transferred to Tokyo in a “white knight” fashion by manager Jim Hernandez via a “lawyer that Zane happened to know on the board of Borderline Books.” Ann then had designs on Brad at Weenie World. He was fired when a jealous Toni physically threatened her. This prompted TJ to arrive, again in white knight fashion, and con her into resigning. She tried to seduce TJ with a kiss back then; Jan 2013. One got the impression she was more enamored with his ability to out con her than his physical attributes. This also rekindled the “TJ is gay” crowd when he rejected her blatant advance. Finally, Ann seduced her way back into the strip via Tiffany’s father, Tom. She was once again out conned out of Les’ life with the customer list ploy. This again was a con designed for Les by her brother Al Gray.
So if Greg follows form and history, the only way we’ll get Ann out of the strip is for a “white knight” to appear and out con Ann. Is Nancy that white knight character? If she is, when and how will GnK bring it about.
Tyge’s opinion is that this current confrontation is just the opening salvo in the big war.
The pout on Ann’s face in the 1st panel says it all. Nancy has put a serious crimp in her style, and her mission in coming to the Fuse (whatever it was) has been derailed. It’s the face of a child who has lost round 1 of an argument and who is trying to figure out their next move.
Eiffel is a bully, a coward, and a thief. Nancy hasn’t heard about her before because the kids have always tried to handle her on their own. Ann is about to find out who the sheriff is.
Obviously, Ann’s experience is speaking here. Remembering how much “respected” and “obeyed” she was… I like the personality Nancy is showing. GO NANCY! SMASH HER !!!
Nancy has been a professional Mom, raising two kids, keeping her house in order, and dealing with a clueless husband for decades. I think Ann is way overmatched in this matchup.
So Nancy apparently doesn’t know that Ann ran an illegal scam fake lingerie operation out of her restaurant? I guess nobody ever told her and Frank about it. And where’s TJ?
This is not going to end well. I’m afraid the next characters we see will be the Health Inspector and the Fire Marshall come to investigate “complaints” they have received.
Madam?-no, miss?-no, hmmm; ah ha!- “Lady, there are a lot of other places to eat in this town. Go take yourself and your crummy attitude to one of them. You are ‘fired’ from this place.”
I don’t see how it can get any uglier. Nancy may have leaned close but she did not touch or abuse Ann in any way; mostly Ann was startled. She can’t complain to the owner because Nancy is the owner. She doesn’t have much recourse; I could see Ann throwing the water at Nancy (in her face) and then stalking out.
Ann could retaliate in some serious way e.g. by spreading false rumors about the cafe, like getting food poisoning on top of bad service. She could post it somewhere. She is capable of doing something like that.
Bingo! And what the startled b*tch doesn’t spill on herself, Nancy, you could pour over her hairdo (get Oxford to bring a pitcher, with plenty of ice!)….
Hey ann, if you find the service at the fuse to be SO lousy, why are you complaining that you haven’t gotten your order. Just get up and leave and don’t come back. I think you remain there because you want to torment Tiffany. You want Tiffany under your thumb and you’ll stop at nothing to make this happen.

How and when will Awful Annie exit the strip?

Well this is kind of going nowhere. But at least Nancy got Ann’s attention.

This is getting almost as silly as Gunther bodychecking Les with that huge backpack in high school.

I like it but be careful Nancy. Ann seems to get the last laugh, and if history serves, the cartoonist won’t protect you here.

Ann could retaliate in some serious way e.g. by spreading false rumors about the cafe, like getting food poisoning on top of bad service. She could post it somewhere. She is capable of doing something like that.

Be careful what you wish for . . . Especially if you think you deserve it for who you think you are.
